The howls of outrage from some mentalists who demanded the game be replayed were glorious.

In 1989 Scotland hosted the U16 World Cup, and made it all the way to the final where they lost to Saudi Arabia at a sold out Hampden.

The only ones in the crowd, which included me, that believed the ages on the passports of the Saudi time were the FIFA reps with brown envelopes in their pockets,

Would say that more of hosting a tournament as all games were played in Scotland to amazing crowds.

Oops, forgot about that one. Well, it was 35 years ago now...

How many other brothers of Pumpherston Juniors players have ever scored in a World Championship Final?

I went to Scotland v Portugal at Tynecastle- it was a bloody crush mere months after Hillsborough.

My pal had been supporting Portugal throughout the tournament and didn't change his allegence. He got a lift back to his house on Portugal's coach and got the young Luis Figo's autograph.
