If you mean Rangers then I think they're in it.  They weren't in the Lowland League last season but they were in this cup.  We had to reschedule our game against them because they had players off on international duty, without whom they couldn't possibly be expected to play Airdrie.

It's also hilarious that the B teams are being kept apart in the draw, presumably because even as brass-necked an institution as the SPFL would feel just a wee twinge of embarrassment as 17 assorted mums, dads and bored younger brothers playing in their phones turn up for Motherwell Weans vs. Hibs Weans.

Attendance kept a secret.

Absolute disgrace to invite Shire, Cowdenbeath, Berwick and Albion over the teams who finished in the top 6.  What happens if they get relegated to the EOSFL / WOSFL do we still invite them over Linlithgow and CCS etc? Should be done on merit also get the B teams into the sea and have more actual clubs from below the SPFL cracking to visit grounds like BoD and Linlithgow Rose last few years.

Luckily for those clubs it's currently near to impossible to get relegated from the LL.  Just look at Gretna 2008's record over the last three seasons:

2021/22 - w2  d5  l27  f36  a109

2022/23 - w8  d2  l26  f39  a91

2023/24 - w3  d3  l28  f26  a114

Total - w13  d10  l81  f101  a314

and they're still there.  Beith denied a chance of promotion after 2 consecutive WOSFL titles.  Talbot overlooked despite finishing runners-up twice in a row and having a support.  The LL is just as much of a bad joke as the SPFL Trophy.

Only the bottom club is relegated in the Lowland League, whereas in League Two the bottom club isn't relegated, they enter a play-off.

If anyone denied Beith, it was the SFA closing the licencing process for a year, meaning Beith could not obtain a licence to qualify for the play-off.  Talbot weren't overlooked as only Champions qualify for the play-off, which Broxburn won and are now in the Lowland League next season.

This cup has potential.

Unfortunately… they make an arse of it every time.

I agree with getting rid of the Welsh and Irish teams. The B teams should also follow!

Top half of the LL and the HL should be invited in.

Scottish tournament only, with no B teams. Let’s not forget teams that should be there on merit as well.

The likes of ES and Cowdenbeath supporters should be mortified at this. Board will be rubbing there hands at the extra cash, but still an embarrassment to be in it

Not just related to this but all these club statements that now, for some reason, have to be a jpg that is almost always formatted badly, miniscule margins, illegible fonts, tiny, awful contrast, barely readable on mobile.

Im begging just one club to put some thought into the readability & accessibility of what they’re putting out!

it seems like there’s nothing more to it than “it’s the done thing” but the reason it’s that is so that your corporate apology isn’t searchable after the drama dies down.

Neither of which are relevant criteria for winning promotion in professional Scottish football.

The BBC have now woken up to this, although it took them a while. Should have been obvious to any journalist who knew his beat that this would cause a stink.

It’s people from all the same clubs who decide things in the SFA!

There is no neutral oversight of Scottish Football. That’s why an independent regulator is badly neeeded.

Things like the SPFL Trophy invites should be passed on to the regulator who has the power to decide the outcome.

Maybe the mere fact that there was an independent regulator would mean these clowns wouldn’t even try shit like this.

The one positive of this has been seeing  showers like Cumbernauld Colts raging. Was never a problem creating a carve up when you wanted to bend over for the Old Firm boaby was it eh? Maybe it'll create a change a heart for them in future being on the wrong end of this. Aye right.

So Dumbarton, who won promotion and play in league one, have to play in the second round while Peterhead and Spartans, who play in league two, get a bye

Because Dumbarton finished fourth

If you want to lobby against 4th placed teams having the chance to get promoted then go ahead, but while the rules are how they are there's always the chance of this happening.

As ever - get the B Teams in the sea.

We did the long trip to Oswestry to watch TNS v Elgin; a most enjoyable trip... however - I still won't be walking down to Borough Briggs to watch us against any B team.

There used to be the hope that by not attending games with the B teams you could point out to clubs it was affecting gate revenue - now they've increased the prize money it's hard to make that argument.  I'm absolutely sure that wasn't the SPFL's reasoning though.....
