The tories are way out of step with todays society and I'm sure they are aware of it, social media has infiltrated all levels of our society and is used constantly to out wrongdoings and bring culprits to justice, no longer can an MP have a fiddle going with companies through lobbyists when in the past a rap in the knuckles would have been the justice while the culprit stayed in position.

I think that over the next few years the tories will bring in major changes to their policies and people, future candidates will no longer have a public school background but will be chosen from a working class background and policies will have a more classless tone with no more lowering taxes for the rich.

To kick this off they will, in opposition, argue against any Labour party policy to present themselves as champions of the people, it would not surprise if they attacked Labour on the 2 cap child benefit.

Nomination open this Wednesday and close on Monday.

Tory MPs to whittle it down to 4 to speak at the conference.

Then they whittle it down to the final 2 for the members to choose between.

Result Saturday 2nd November.

Sunak to stay on as interim party leader until then.

Thought they might stop the demented members getting the final say to stop another Truss, who knows what mentalist they'll pick this time.

They’ll do that for sure next time they’re picking a new leader while in government.

Maybe they’ll keep the mentalists out of the final two.

Seems optimistic to expect 4 candidates for a hustings at their conference, would imagine with such a small pool of 121 MPs they won't have that many realistic candidates.

Although my preference would be lots of candidates and in-fighting leading to splits on both sides as some think the lead candidate is too right wing, and some think it not right wing enough.

is it too much to dream of splits both ways just think if 31 defect, and 19 of them go LD, the LDs would be on 91 MPs and the Tories on only 90 and third in the HoC.

Bring on the squabbling, back-stabbing, front-stabbing and insanity.

Just ask Truss who it will be then.

It would save lots of time.

They will pretend to have a debate.  Nigel Farage will be asked who he thinks it should be.  Whoever he suggests will win.  The Tories will hope that will be enough to make Reform go away.  It won't.  More fun and games.

They will continue to move rightwards and do an electoral pact with Reform IMO. The members will keep voting for maniacs so there is no chance for any One Nation type to claim the leadership.

Tories are potentially in trouble. If they move rightwards then they lose more voters to Lib Dem and Labour, if they move leftwards then they lose more voters to Reform.

The Tories have been in trouble ever since Brexit won.  It was only meant to deflect criticism on to the EU.  Now the UK is out they have to pretend it was a great idea but they will never be the true believers like Reform.  Brexit has destroyed the chance of One Nation Tories gaining the upper hand.

Was out in the car and tuned in to hear Braverman on LBC.  One of the expressions she used should ring alarm bells for any Tory even considering her for any position of authority ... "so-called human rights".

"So called." FFS.

Perhaps Kieth should have Stalinist purge - starting with her - maybe then her views on "so-called human rights" would change then?

LBC need absolutely slated for giving this evil c**t a platform - surprised they didn't have Tommy Ten-Names as one of their 5 guest hosts.

Bit late to chuck my opinion into the thread but I reckon they'll go for Jenrick or Tugendhat - they'll be playing the long game hoping that Farage will be not be motivated to run again in 28/9 and can be bought off with a seat in the HoL and that they can hoover up most of the Reform vote.

A lot of truth in what you say there, Sand Wedge.

Good chance they’ll become more of a populist party, an attempt to tempt voters from both Reform and Labour.

If that doesn’t happen with the new leader, then it’s still inevitable in the not too distant future.  Their ‘One Nation’ faction will eventually have to accept this.
