I’m curious to understand how he could “overturn brexit”.  What is it you think he has the ability to do here?

Commit to a referendum if he believes that the UK is better served being part of the EU.

That’s s far cry from “overturning Brexit”.

def: to cause something to turn on to its back or about face. Rejoining the EU would seem the action that would best achieve that. How would that be delivered (?) - by a referendum. Would seem quite logical sequencing to me.

If you have it in your manifesto you have to get elected, then win a referendum, then persuade the EU to allow the UK to re-enter.  Theoretically possible but a heck of a challenge imo.  I suspect the EU wouldn’t be falling over themselves to welcome us back if a referendum wasn’t hugely in favour of us rejoining.

Any political leader couldn’t commit to “overturning Brexit”.  The best they could offer would be a referendum..

ah okay - you are picking up on nuance of language. Not on substance of position.

It wouldnt make sense for any political party at the moment to promise overturning Brexit or even offering a referendum. Thats something that is going to have to be a longer term objective and its going to start with first steadying the ship and getting good relations again with The EU. That should be the objective first and when thats achieved see what the options are.

Spot on. All this 'but, but..Sir Keef isn't overturning Breixt so he is a waste of space' chat.

'If' the Labour Party at the moment entered the election promising another Referendum on Brexit, what would the result be?...Straightforward Tory victory.

Look what happened to the Lib Dems in 2019 who were going to 'overturn' Brexit..Jo Swinson anyone? No, me neither.

Rather, Labour have the opportunity to move closer to the EU and possibly move to joining EFTA (as an example). Or..at the next GE if the mood of the country dictates it, 'then' put another Ref in the manifesto.

Again, why would they simply hand the Tories a win this year, by

bringing it all back up again at the moment?

'Make Brexit work' is suitably vague..its not 'pandering to the gammons'...its leaving the door open to work better with the EU (at the moment)

Forty-odd years of politicians promising to fix crime by punishment.

Presumably this is how it's always been, but it's depressing that this is (apparently) the stuff that still wins elections.

Labour MP Kate Osamor has been suspended for tweeting this:

It was her inclusion of Gaza that upset party leadership.

Blair said this when instituting UK Holocaust Memorial Day:

Events in Kosovo at that time were a far weaker example than current events in Gaza.

Folk have compared Labour's censure of Osamor with their inaction over Christian Wakeford, Margaret Hodge and Ruth Smeeth. Those three MPs made a show of solidarity with the Israeli government earlier this month:

The man sat in the middle of the photo is Isaac Herzog. His statements of genocidal intent towards Gazan civilians have featured prominently in South Africa's ICJ proceedings against Israel.

Christian Wakeford is a recent Tory defector to the Labour Party. Margaret Hodge is a billionaire.

Kate Osamor is the working class daughter of Nigerian immigrants whose father died when she was a child. Her mother was a prominent anti-racism activist in the 1980s and has been involved in Labour politics since then.

Colour me shocked at Labour's official position on the Rwanda bill. Jedi2 can rest easy now that he knows he's voting Tory wherever he puts his wee pro union X on the ballot paper. A shower of desperado arseholes.
