When I stayed in Stirling I saved about £10 on a train back to Aberdeen by getting a Stirling to Perth, Perth to Dundee, Dundee to Montrose, Montrose to Stonehaven, Stonehaven to Aberdeen tickets, selecting the time did the same train.
