Discovering the last train home is at 9.15 puts a bit of a dampener on it. Public transport in Scotland is awful. 18 hours ago, Todd_is_God said: Fair enough. I live 8 miles from the city centre of Glasgow. I find it utterly bizarre that in today's 24/7 society (obviously taking covid-19 out of the equation) that there are not 24 hour transport links to and from the city centre from this area. If the SG are serious about reducing carbon emissions then public transport is an area that must improve. 8 miles is only two hours walk. Women in the Sahel do that before breakfast with 20 gallons of water balanced on their heads. Wear sensible shoes and don't be such a pussy.

Have you ever seen a dog tears? There was a bit of water, can't see it in the river. Edited July 30, 2020 by SlipperyP

Jacksgranda
Creeping Americanisms get on my wick. I was listening to Radio Ulster yesterday, and their sports reporter said "Derry City have added 2 players to their roster". They're not a f****** baseball team. Then I was talking to one of our granddaughters about her big brother, he's been spending some money on football uniforms. No he hasn't, they're strips, they live in Pomeroy not Pittsburgh.
WhiteRoseKillie
For a train driver's salary I would. I've worked night shifts in the past. Started and finished shifts at every hour on the clock. I know they are shite. But, and this is my point, the main reason for having to do so is that we live in a 24/7 society. If we expect people to start and finish work at all hours of the day then they should, within reason, be able to get to and from work on public transport. As night shifts start between seven and ten, then finish between six and eight next morning - why would you need a service running throughout the night?24/7 society my arse. Night shift keeps you up all night, but you're not exactly socialising.

Seen the flash a couple of times when I was well over the limit and didn't get a ticket. Were you on a 60 limit road?
Markka
You are making the assumption that no one ever starts work or finishes work between 12 & 5 This is untrue.Your original moan on public transport is that you couldn't get a train home after 9:15pm this Friday. Unfortunate, but later services are back on from Monday and I'm sure you could get a bus home up until about 11pm this Friday anyway.Your argument for 24/7 public transport is nonsense. The number of people who start or finish work outwith normal public transport hours that don't either have access to a car, or an arrangement with their employer (i.e. staff taxis for pub workers) is too few to justify it.

welshbairn
Just now, philpy said: Nope, a 70mph Doubt you have anything to worry about then. Talked to a traffic cop who said they never do anyone at 79 or less on a 70 road, unless they're doing something else wrong or the conditions are bad. That was about 5 years ago.

If you didn't you won't. Think the motorway gatso cameras get triggered at about 76 so you may just be unlucky but no worse that 3 points and maybe £60 or so.
Stellaboz
How does it work with points with speeding abroad? I've been caught 3 times past year. Was never caught in the UK, the cameras here are made to fucking camouflage in.
JamesP_81
Can't be any worse than mile long bloody goods trains rumbling past at 2am!Don't exaggerate, the longest length limit in the central belt is a little under half a mile. Where exactly are you experiencing this nightly annoyance and I'll make sure to pass as quietly as possible in future?
