peasy23
What an atrocious dropped catch from Jos Buttler. The rwo drops more than cancel out the brilliance of the one he did take.
die hard doonhamer
The first drop was a hard chance, but he had done the hardest part in moving his feet to get there. The second one was just a dolly, he takes that one 99 times out of 100.
peasy23
Yep, the first one wasn't simple by any means but it was right in his gloves, has to be held on to.Actually surprised to get out of bed and find that England were only 1 over short of the 90.

I think they ended up bowling Root so they could get through the overs quick enough to get a few in with the new ball.
peasy23
Labuschagne gets his ton, gets caught behind off Robinson on 102 but gets his third reprieve of the innings as it's a front foot no ball. He doesn't get to add many though as he is finally out lbw off Robinson for 103.Aussies up to 251-3 and it is bloody roasting. Bowlers look knackered already.
peasy23
Decent session for England, 302-5 at lunch.
Mark Connolly
Tremendous fielding from Burns there
peasy23
Smith out for 93, 385-6. Australia might have thought about declaring later to have an hour or so under the lights with the new ball.
peasy23
Decent catch by Hameed, Australia 390-7 at tea. Only the tail left, so they will probably add another 150.

Surely they'll bat for half an hour or so, get it over 400 then put England in, to be about 37-4 by close.

Would guess Starc will come out swinging hard.
Mark Connolly
Good start there - Mitchell Starc has hit more Test 6s than Mark Waugh
Michael W
Do enjoy when Starc is given the oppportunity to play with a bit of freedom and just piles on the misery. Edited December 17, 2021 by Michael W
Fuctifano
How many down at the close? I'm going 3 including a nightwatchman
peasy23
Do enjoy when Starc is given the oppportunity to play with a bit of freedom and just piles on the misery. Neser and Richardson weren't hanging about either. A strike rate of 300 for Richardson. England have a real problem with cleaning up the tail. It was going to be a tall order anyway, but they lost 83 runs in 10 overs after Carey was dismissed.Australia declare on 473-9.
peasy23
First wicket down, Burns edging Starc to Smith in the slips.

Mark Connolly
Another tremendous day for Burns, with his shite run out attempt going for 4 overthrows, convincing Root to review a potential catch that was nowhere near the bat, and then getting himself out for single figures. In fact, in the last couple of hours, he has scored the same number of runs for both teams.
die hard doonhamer
England still Englanding. Decent knocks from Root and Malan, but both fail to convert to 3 figures. Pope and Buttler fail again. England a long way back at 179-6. 95 more needed to avoid the follow on.
Arthur Orton
Typical England, Root and Malan poor shots unfortunately but at least they dug in. Pope is an absolute fraud of a boy, one of the worst players of spin I have ever seen. Dreadful just dreadful. Away back to your flat track and medium pacers for your county son. Buttler's head has gone. Average wicketkeeper and just cannot play test cricket. In essence England are woeful and I've seem some shite over the years but this lot are worse than the early 90s drivel. Embarrassing.
