peasy23
Looks like England will finally stop the rot and scrape a draw. Surely not even they can f**k up from this position in a single day? That said, surely Lyon will be looking forward to this - if Leach can take 4 wickets, he should be able to cause some havoc. I think if the series wasn't already in the bag the Aussies might have declared 20-30 minutes earlier, but instead opted to stay out long enough for Khawaja to get his ton. It's a damning indictment of England's batting that Khawaja has come in and scored more in one match than every English batsman apart from Root has managed in the series. You can easily see England collapsing as usual tonight/tomorrow, they might need a rain delay or two to help them see this out.Pope had a decent day behind the stumps, equalled the record for catches taken by a sub in a test innings.
Fuctifano
If there's no rain, I can't see England batting it out. Think they can manage about 55 overs max.
Mark Connolly
They also look like they'll have no players left for the final Test, which could be funny
peasy23
They also look like they'll have no players left for the final Test, which could be funnyEspecially as the Lions squad are already home and even the BBL players who they might call up are also heading home. Looking forward to Gower and Root batting together.

Gower looked fucking horrendous when they showed him on screen, and not just his outfit.
peasy23
Ben McDermott out for 93 for Hobart Hurricanes as he was chasing his third ton in 5 matches.

I was mesmerised by Pat Dooleys bowling action watching that game, no idea what is going on there but it seems to work.

Not sure who wins a game between England's Sydney side from 2014 and this one in all honesty.

I had this conversation with a friend the other day. I was shocked when I checked his age to see he’s only 64. He honestly looks about 15 years more senior than that.
peasy23
Here we go then, 98 overs to go.
PB1994
There is no way they are batting out the 98 overs, so should they not try treat it as an ODI chase? See off the new ball for another 15-20 overs, hopefully with only 1 wicket down and then see what happens?
die hard doonhamer
Hameed gone, and I’d think his place in the team goes with it for a little while.

It says a lot about the state of English test cricket when Khawaja can score back to back 100s and he might not play in the next test and that’s Crawley probably got himself a solid spot opening for England now.

dirty dingus
Think England got a wee break there with stopping the pace bowling in the last few overs. The floodlights were on could they not have turned the brightness up. Edited January 9, 2022 by dirty dingus
