lichtie23
St Michael’s was looking lovely today. Greens in great Nick as well for being so late in the season. Pity my putting inside 5 feet was borderline criminal

VictorOnopko
Really interested to see whether/how often Bob goes over to the PGA tour next year. From one or two things he has said I doubt he'll do so full time even though he has a card as a top-10 player on the Euro tour. Also, that is a horrible shirt.
Ignoramus
Not a fan of a lot of what this account says but it feels bang on here. The DPWT’s identity seems to be increasingly as a feeder for the PGAT. It was always the case to some extent but to effectively say to a lot of the dregs in America to come over and take some spots in Euro tournaments doesn’t quite sit right with me. It’s the same as the ‘elevated event’ stuff - there’s no reason why the likes of Wentworth, maybe France or Italy and one of the Middle East tournaments couldn’t have those fields as well but it feels as if it’s the Scottish is the only one because most of the US players are over here the week leading up to the Open anyway.

Totally agree, this is absolutely going to stiffle talent coming through in Europe. So we send the top ten elible from DP World tour to the PGA and in return we get 74 duffers from the PGA. One one hand this weakens the DP World tour and on the other hand it weakens the DP World tour. There are only 156 slots in pretty much every tour event, say all 74 US PGA duffers wish to come over for the bigger events....where does that leaves the likes of David Law, Connor Syme for example?
The Moonster
The Flushing It mob are wee LIV cocksuckers, I just can't bring myself to agree with them. The best players will always play on the PGA (minus a few money grabbers), the other tours need to get on with grabbing the best talent they can.

I saw a few people suggesting that his recent caddy change may be due to him planning on giving the PGA Tour a proper bash next year. The new guy is Danny Willets ex caddy who has plenty of experience over there and wouldn’t have any issues with being based there.

Syme, Law etc will get into events before any of the duffers from the PGA Tour, they will have full playing rights (assuming they keep their card) whereas the Yanks will only have associate privileges.

I really hope he goes and gives it a shot given that he's got the card for the full season - go and commit to it, and see what happens. At his Dunhill links press conference he said stuff that made me think he wasn't going to go (or not full time) - chat about not wanting to give everything in his life up to golf, family and home life being important, etc. Thing is, unless he wins a Rolex / elevated event (which he almost did in the Scottish this year) he's unlikely to get a better chance than the full card for a year which he has right now. Maybe he's still weighing it all up.

Having Full Member status is a bit of a catch-all phrase, though, as there are umpteen "Exemption Categories" that players fit into. It'll all depend on where the new "PGA failure" category gets placed - if it's above the current Category 10 (previous year's DP Tour Top 115 or whatever) there will undoubtedly be a bit of a stramash, but if it gets slotted in somewhere behind Category 14 (previous year's Top 20 on Challenge Tour), I can't see much of an issue. As it happens, there's currently no Category 15, so that might be the solution right there... https://www.europeantour.com/dpworld-tour/players/exemption-categories/
Donathan
Is there a case to be made for scrapping the European points list element for the Ryder cup and having the six automatic berths decided purely by world ranking? If the DP world tour is falling further behind the PGA tour, it could hamstring future European sides. In practice: 2023 - Fleetwood gets in automatically over McIntyre. 2021 - Lowry gets in automatically over Weisberger 2018 - No change 2016 - No change

It's most certainly a feeder tour now. Funnily enough, now that Aberg has raced further up to reflect his form, this year's team were basically the Top 12 Euros in the OWGR as things stand right now - except for N Hojgaard instead of Meronk. Personally I'd just make it the top 8 Europeans in the world rankings and 4 captain's picks in future.

peasy23
Disappointing final round for Bob, out on the final group but shaves the hole with lots of putts and ends on 14 under where he started and tied for 6th. Great week for Scott Jamieson though, he came in right on the bubble for keeping his card, but a back 9 of 31 today after a +2 front 9 sees him finish in a tie for 3rd. Playoff between Campillo and Valimaki for the win. Edited October 29, 2023 by peasy23

Marc Warren finishes outside the top 116 required to keep his card.
RH33
Course was badly flooded about ten years ago. Incursions again. The local clubs and community helped clear up last time, I'm sure they will again.
Caledonian1
Pity that Bob had a poor day yesterday in Qatar - he has owever moved up to 54th in the world (from 57th) Needs a couple of good weeks in SA and Dubai to get into the top 50 and all the exemptions that brings with it.
