Steve Beaton won his first tournament since 2001 yesterday after beating Wes Newton 6-1 in the Players' Championship Final.

James Wade and Brendan Dolan are set to contest today's final.

Oh, and here's the draw for the European Championship which is on for four days starting on Thursday though, unlike last year, there will be no TV coverage...

Phil Taylor vs Toon Greebe

Wes Newton vs Robert Thornton

Ronnie Baxter vs Andy Smith

Co Stompe vs Gary Anderson

Terry Jenkins vs Jamie Caven

Wayne Jones vs Jelle Klaasen

John Part vs Colin Lloyd

Mensur Suljovic vs Roland Scholten

Raymond van Barneveld vs Dennis Priestley

Kevin Painter vs Mark Walsh

Adrian Lewis vs Steve Beaton

Michael van Gerwen vs Vincent van der Voort

Mervyn King vs Carlos Rodriguez

Colin Osborne vs Paul Nicholson

James Wade vs Alan Tabern

Andy Hamilton vs Remco van Eijden

Will be interesting to see how Rodriguez gets on as he's pretty much disappeared from the scene since his decent showing at the last Euro's.

Just read that Andy Jenkins was involved in a scuffle during the Colin Monk/Andy Smith quarter final which resulted in him punching Terry Jenkins and getting into a scrap with Nick Fulwell too.

He's only just finished a ban for this sort of behaviour, I don't think he'll have much a future with the PDC after this latest incident.

Must have been riled up something awful if he punched Terry Jenkins !

Apparently the drink's to blame -- I think Hearn will think about banning alcohol at these events in the future if that's how the professionals are going to behave.

I was reading this as well apparently Terry Jenkins was floored so he must have gave him some punch.

I can't see Andy Jenkins throwing another dart in the PDC to be honest after having previous for this kind of thing.

A bit disappointing that this tourney isn't on TV, to be honest. Here's the results from tonight's matches:

Terry Jenkins 4-6 Jamie Caven

Mensur Suljovic 6-3 Roland Scholten

Wes Newton 4-6 Robert Thornton

Ronnie Baxter 6-2 Andy Smith

Co Stompe 5-6 Gary Anderson

Phil Taylor 6-2 Toon Greebe

John Part 5-6 Colin Lloyd

Wayne Jones 2-6 Jelle Klaasen

Steve Beaton continued his fine form with a 6-2 win over Adrian Lewis tonight - The Adonis could be a real dark horse for this tournament...

Good to see Lewis getting a spanking. He is a tit of the highest order, especially after his recent gamesmanship shite with Gary Anderson.

Second Round Results

Colin Lloyd 9-5 Mensur Suljovic

Mervyn King 9-6 Colin Osborne

Jamie Caven 8-9 Jelle Klaasen

Ronnie Baxter 1-9 Gary Anderson

Mark Walsh 9-7 Raymond van Barneveld

Steve Beaton 9-7 Michael van Gerwen

Phil Taylor 9-0 Robert Thornton

James Wade 9-5 Andy Hamilton

Surprised that Anderson won by such a margin, though no real surprise to see Taylor whitewash Thornton.

Taylor has just thumped Anderson 10-3 with a whopping 118 average and Anderson averaged a pretty 106 too. Its fucking unreal how he is pissing away the competiton and constantly getting better.

After beating thornton aswell yesterday its not looking good for the jocky wilson cup

Semi Finals

Phil Taylor 11-3 Jelle Klaasen

Steve Beaton 11-10 James Wade

Final

Phil Taylor 11-3 Steve Beaton

Taylor deservedly the winner today going by the averages he was cracking out (118 in the QF against Anderson, 109 against Klaasen) and brilliant to see The Adonis really come back to form.

EDIT: Forgot to add - Beaton's run in this tournament means that he's earned a place in the Grand Slam later this month. Not bad going considering he was commentating on the event last year.

Shame not to have Beaton in commentary. We do have Chris Mason though. Might be a bit of a w****r, but he clearly knows his stuff and is miles better than any of the Sky lot.

Seeding for the Grand Slam is as follows.

Pool One

*******

1. Phil Taylor

2. Ted Hankey

3. James Wade

4. Raymond Van Barneveld

5. Mervyn King

6. Terry Jenkins

7. Gary Anderson

8. Tony O'Shea

Pool Two

*******

Steve Beaton

Daryl Fitton

Adrian Lewis

Colin Osborne

John Part

Robert Thornton

Mark Webster

Simon Whitlock

Pool Three

*********

Andy Hamilton

Colin Lloyd

Wayne Mardle

Kevin Painter

Co Stompe

Vincent Van Der Voort

Darin Young

ITV Wildcard

Pot Four

*******

Anastasia Dobromyslova

Francis Hoenselaar

Kevin McDine

Gary Mawson

Denis Ovens

Kirk Shepherd

Scott Waites

Brian Woods

Check the quality gap between Pot 3 and 4. Scott Waites is the only one of that lot who really could worry. Ovens if he finally gets his form back in front of the camera could be tricky.

I know hes a world champion, but most from pots 2-4 will be praying for Hankey. Same for O'Shea probably.

another few observations, Hamilton in pot 3? hes better than all bar 2 or 3 of pot 2! Francis Hoenselaar  . Brian Woods

Wheres Klaasen? must be the wildcard!

Klaasen will be the wildcard if he can get past the hellacious qualifying, which will have the likes of Walsh, Jones, Baxter, Priestley, Tabern, Smith and more. Loads of decent players will be sitting this one out I'm afraid.
