DomDom
You can see why Beaton has been so good over the course of 2009. Brilliant stuff from the guy so far.
The Naitch
You can see why Beaton has been so good over the course of 2009. Brilliant stuff from the guy so far. Absolutely - the 170 he hit in the 2nd leg to set up D16 was just fantastic. That's him 4-0 up now and hitting a 99 average. It's only over a short distance but impressive all the same.
northernscum
Beaton needs to have that dodgy dart looked at before his next match, too many not staying in the board and nothing to do with the wires.
The Naitch
Beaton wins it 5-2, good opener to the afternoon session.
The Naitch
Thornton in ruthless form as he breaks Hamilton twice to go 3-0 up. EDIT: Hamilton finally shows up and takes the last leg before the break. Edited November 15, 2009 by The Naitch
DomDom
Robert Thornton with a 3-1 lead. With an injury, he's still playing the best darts he's played on TV for a while and looks like he could be dangerous. I guess the short format will only help, but it'll be interesting to see how he holds up in the latter rounds if he gets there.
The Naitch
Thornton wins 5-2, though Hamilton had chances at 3-2 and 4-2 down to get back into it but his doubling let him down. Good start for Thornton, especially given the injury mentioned by Dom.
DomDom
That was horrible from Hamilton on the doubles. That should not have been as comprehensive a scoreline as it turned out, because Hamilton was scoring like a madman but he gave Thornton chance after chance and he eventually took the match because of it. 5-2 to the Thorn though.

The Naitch
Darin Young is a fucking imbecile. Cannot believe he missed the big single TWICE when trying to check out in that leg. Brilliant 147 checkout from Young though to go in 2-2 at the break.

DomDom
Darin Young getting his act together here. I thought it was all going to be the same in the third leg when he started missing tops, but he managed to pull it out. This is actually a high standard from both men here.
The Naitch
Young has really turned this one around ... 3-2 up and in command in the 6th leg.
DomDom
Those big numbers missing must have woken him up. Darin Young completely commanding the match, and Adrian Lewis, even though he got into some sort of gear before the break, he hasn't done much afterwards.
The Naitch
Surprise of the tournament so far as Young defeats Jackpot 5-2. Great recovery from the American.
The Naitch
Whitlock races into a 2-0 lead against Mardle, including an excellent 142 out shot.
tigerton
Good to see the original Wizard playing well here, cracking 142 checkout. Mardles new shirt is shite.
DomDom
Good to see the original Wizard playing well here, cracking 142 checkout. Mardles new shirt is shite. I liked the old shirt more. He's playing well here Whitlock. Much better than he was playing in Vegas, but Whitlock should have won that third leg. Shame on him.
The Naitch
Good to see the original Wizard playing well here, cracking 142 checkout. Mardles new shirt is shite. What were you expecting? All that build up they were giving pre-match ensured that it wasn't going to anything other than shite!
