tigerton
Klaasen will be the wildcard if he can get past the hellacious qualifying, which will have the likes of Walsh, Jones, Baxter, Priestley, Tabern, Smith and more. Loads of decent players will be sitting this one out I'm afraid. Just seen it was an open qualifier. How does Webster, Young, Stompe and McDine get thru and Klaasen, Baxter et al don't? Must be based on last years grand slam performance in some cases but its still a bit crazy.
DomDom
There's a three year cycle. Woods made the BDO World Semis. McDine made the semis of the Grand Slam. Stompe made the world semis. Young made it through the US Order of Merit I think. Webster won the BDO World Title. The names you see that haven't qualified haven't done anything in a major for the last three years.
The Naitch
Shame not to have Beaton in commentary. We do have Chris Mason though. Might be a bit of a w****r, but he clearly knows his stuff and is miles better than any of the Sky lot. He's certainly better than any of the analysts that Sky use (i.e. Harrington and, on occasion, Taylor) and he's light years ahead of Nigel Pearson - I could do a better job than him. He's got a while to go before he surpasses the likes of Dave Lanning, though. EDIT: The Grand Slam draw takes place this Thursday at 6pm. DomDom
Poor Francis. Group H actually looks cracking. Wadey is going to have a wee bit of trouble escaping that group. Group E is going to be hellishly close, which is going to make it interesting to watch. Taylor is finally gonna get to hump Anastasia. He's been waiting for the day.

Group F looks fairly even as well, really could be any two from four.

DomDom
I actually just noticed an Evander Stevenson in the list. I wonder if that's the guy from the Port that's in the Inverclyde Darts League.
The Naitch
I actually just noticed an Evander Stevenson in the list. I wonder if that's the guy from the Port that's in the Inverclyde Darts League. Given the locality of the event and the presumption that there's not too many Evander's around, I'd imagine it is. He won his first match 4-0 as well.
DomDom
Mark Dudbridge has fallen already. HA ! It was Andy Boulton who put him out, and he is certainly not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination.
The Naitch
van Gerwen is gone as well - crashing out to John Quantock.

DomDom
He's up against Mark Walsh in Round 2 - good luck to him. I seen that. If he can get through that one, he's capable of going very close to getting a shot I reckon. If he plays his best darts, he IS capable. I'm pretty sure he won the Inverclyde Open.
The Naitch
Those top 32 seeds are being dwindled down quicker than most would have expected - that's Brendan Dolan gone now. EDIT: As is fellow Irishman Jacko Barry. Edited November 6, 2009 by The Naitch
DomDom
So is Jacko Barry. John "I'm older than you lolz" MaGowan will be the only guy from any part of Ireland left at this rate. EDIT : Just noticed Mick McGowan is still there. Edited November 6, 2009 by DomDom
