Bully Wee Villa
So if Scotland finish above France we would likely be seeded?
honestly united
Hadn't realised it had been changed to May, but yes the top 4 countries in the world rankings are the top seeded teams 5-8 second seeds then the other 4 teams that finished in the top 3 in their groups are third seeds. Current Standings as follows - note Fiji are 10th but still have to qualify 1 (1)New Zealand 96.10 2 (3) England 88.50 3 (4) South Africa 86.03 4 (2) Australia 85.43 5 (5) Argentina 82.87 6 (6) Wales 82.49 7 (7) Ireland 81.96 8 (9) Scotland 79.50 9 ( France 78.09 10 (10) Fiji 77.14 11 (11) Japan 75.89 12 (12) Georgia 73.57 13 (14) Italy 71.57 So at the moment the seedings would be NZ, Eng, SA, Aus Arg, Wal, Ire, Sco Fra, Japan, Georgia, Italy And you just know we would get France Edited June 21, 2016 by honestly united
come on shire
Easiest way of working it out is just to win as many games as poss between now and the end of the 2017 6N. Fiji have to qualify as they are a Tier 2 status. Only Tier 2 sides who finished in the top 3 in their WC pool last year get auto qual for 2019 WC. Tier 1 sides (Scotland) qualify auto. Only time Tier 1 sides would need to qualify in the pro era would be if they finished 4th or 5th in the last WC pool. IF I'm not mistaken.
dogmc
We were a 3rd seeded team last time but were incredibly lucky with the draw. Can't be that lucky twice on the bounce.

Yep, doubt that you could have hand picked a better group than Scotland got last year coming out of pot 3. Getting Samoa from pot 2 was definitely a massive stroke of luck, and from pot 1 the only team that would have been a better option would have been France instead of SA.
Eednud
State of Origin game 2 tonight in Brisbane. Hard to see anything other than another win for the Maroons and the series with 1 game left.

honestly united
Nope its the teams that finish in the top 3 places during the group stage of the last world cup that get automatic qualification regardless of whether they are tier 1 or not - Japan and Georgia this time round as an example and last time round we had Samoa as second seeds in our group. If England or Italy for example had finished 4th behind Fiji or Romania they would have had to qualify fr the next world cup - although im sure it would have been made extremely easy for them. For example the 3 PI teams are near guaranteed qualification as they are playing in a 3 team group and the 2 winners qualify, last place plays off against the winner of the other oceania group (Cook Islands, Vanuata, PNG etc) to enter the repachage tournament against the other teams that didnt qualify directly for the last 2 places which they should win. The qualification process is a joke to fair, and seems to be changed every year to suit agenda's
Eednud
26-16 to Queensland so they win the series. Game closer than the result indicates but JT was magnificent plus a trick of tries for Dane Gagai.

dogmc
Really like the look of that side. Might have switched horne to 10 but you could argue that nel and brown aside its very close to our best team. Great to see Pyrgos back at 9.
come on shire
This Wed is the Challenge/Champs Cup draw. Glasgow in Tier 2 and could draw Toulon, Racing or Sarries. Even from Tier 3 we could draw Northampton and Scarlets form Tier 4. I'm terrified. 1pm start. Don't know if that's the Champs cup draw or the full thing. As a Scotsman I'd like to see Edinburgh get a decent draw too.
honestly united
The best draw would be, i think Connaught / Exeter Glasgow Scarlets Bordeaux / Castre Tier 3 is a nightmare though any one of, Leicester, Montpellier, Ulster, Northampton, Tolouse and Scarlets

Those stats really do emphasise how few tries Scotland have scored in the last decade. Seymour has scored almost as many tries in 30 caps as Lamont has in 100.
dogmc
I think Hardie would be in Scotland's best side. Those stats really do emphasise how few tries Scotland have scored in the last decade. Seymour has scored almost as many tries in 30 caps as Lamont has in 100. Wouldnt argue against hardie as we have plenty of great back row options. Tbf to sean lamont he has played in some stinking Scotland sides which were terrible for white line fever. There were several seasons when 2 tries for the whole 6n would be all we could manage. Its only with the emergence of Glasgow as an attacking force that we have become a try scoring side. Lamont has been a great servant to scottish rugby through thick and anoxerically thin and hopefully will contribute a lot as a coach in the future. Ps tommy is a prime poacher on top of every other skill who has learnt lots from dth and would grace any team in nh.
