Glasgow were absolutely superb today, that was an absolutely huge win. Especially loved Leinster bringing on their big gun front row at HT and us obliterating them at the first scrum.

Johnny Gray was absolutely immense again today. His injury a few weeks back was the best possible thing to happen. Not so serious it was long term, but bad enough that he had to have a proper rest, and what a difference since.

So if Glasgow hold on to first place in the conference then the winner of Ulster v Connacht come to Scotstoun for the semi final.

If it does work out like that you’d have to be confident of Glasgow making the final at Celtic Park.

Yeah, whereas if we don't, I believe we have to play one of Edinburgh, Bennetton or Scarlets at home, followed by Leinster in Dublin. The game against Edinburgh is massive!

The top side from each of the two conferences are given a bye to the semi-finals and have home advantage. Teams placed second and third in opposite conferences meet in the two quarter-finals to determine the other two semi-finalists with the teams ranked second having home advantage.

So if Glasgow top their conference they play the winner of 2nd in the other conference v 3rd in their conference at Scotstoun

am i right in thinking that 4th place goes into a play off for the last European place? So at the moment Embra vs Ospreay's unless Leinster or Munster win in Europe and both get in?

I saw someone say yesterday the Champion's Cup winner's league only gets an extra place if all 4 Challenge Cup semi finalists have qualified through their leagues. That won't happen this year.

Edinburgh need a bonus win against Glasgow to make the Champions Cup playoff.

Pro 14 have 7 slots that go to the top 3 non South African sides in each conference with the two 4th place (or 5th place if a South African side in top 3)sides with the side with most points getting home advantage. If the Pro 14 get an extra slot the best 4th place (or 5th place if a South African side in top 3)side gets a place with the other 4th place (or 5th place if a South African side in top 3) plays the 5th place (or 6th place if a South African side in top 3) from the other conference at home.

The conferences are apparently getting rejigged.

Quote

Seems there will be a re-rank for 19/20:
Conference A Ireland 1 & 4 (Leinster + Connacht), Wales 2 & 3 (Scarlets + Ospreys), Scotland 1 (Glasgow), Italy 2 (Zebre), South Africa 1 (Cheetahs)

Conference B Ireland 2 & 3 (Munster + Ulster), Wales 1 & 4 (Cardiff Blues + Dragons), Scotland 2 (Edinburgh), Italy 1 (Benetton), South Africa 2 (Southern Kings)

A Glasgow vs Leinster battle for top spot could add some good entertainment.

How the fixtures fall is arguably more important.

That was always the plan to swap the teams (Irish and Welsh mainly) every 2 seasons.

Finally took the plunge after Glasgows result at the weekend and got tickets for the final at Parkhead. Anyone else bought tickets? Hopefully we make it now and avoid a repeat of last year in Dublin where I think more glasgow fans were in the stadium than scarlets fans.

Yeah, I bought some. At a tenner a ticket I figured it was worth a punt! Probably jinxed it.

I got £10 tickets for section 406 as well which they were selling as "restricted view". Fairly certain my seats are in front of the big pole in that section anyway so considering the view I'll have, £10 is quite good value. Wasn't sure how long they were selling the cheap ones for so took a risk on them and figured I could get in ahead of the mass of people who'll wait until the playoffs to buy them. (worked really well when I went to Dublin last year expecting us to take care of Scarlets in the semi!)

That's a terrific pass by Price for Johnson's try.

This. It was terrific and largely missed. Price has really come back to form after his nightmare post Cardiff. Scotland's No1 9 for me but has to watch George Horne.

Can't see Edinburgh with much left to play for given other games but pride and a whitewash of Glasgow. That said beating Glasgow's would seriously harm the chances of a Scottish home team final.

We got the £10 tickets but the seats directly in front are £50 so hopefully the view shouldn’t be too restricted. Can’t be any more restricted than the west stand at Scotstoun with its 11 pillars and no sight of the top of the posts
