Savage Henry
Has that been rumoured? No, other than I just rumoured it, but it has a Cockerill type move written all over it.

I know it’s not popular to say, but both television and radio coverage has improved exponentially over the years since Sky got the rights. The amount of cash being spent by the counties has also risen, and the national team had become increasingly successful. Increased money, fall in participation, is the story of crickets love affair with pay TV. The ECB are so worried about the fall in participation and its link to lack of coverage on terrestrial TV, they devised an entire tournament (the Hundred) to tempt the BBC to show cricket again.

Yeah think you've a point there. Wouldn't like to see it but Scotland isn't exactly awash with good back three players coming through to play for the club sides in the international windows...
ajwffc
That's Ashton left Sale at short notice, with Cammy Redpath already having departed in the last couple of weeks (albeit for a fee) at the start of a five-year contract. Next big salary cap scandal? They've not the biggest squad but a lot of full internationals and experienced guys who won't be playing for pennies in there. Making space to pick up some Saracens players with Ashton going to France or America as he has no chance in getting back in the England team.

A lot of that seems to be from the fact he's mates with, and indeed does the BBC rugby podcast, with Danny Care and Ugo Monye, but it would make sense given his family still stay in one of Nigel Wray's houses in a house down south.

peasy23
Two testimonial dinners for Tom Smith held last night and tonight. I remember when they were announced there were genuine fears that he might not make it this far.
Allan Jacobsen
That's Ashton joined Quins. What a lovely man.

Detournement
And Fraz Brown is in at hooker. I've no idea what to expect here.
GAD
It's a bit weird. Haining going from in the team, to out the squad and back again. Jones now bombed out, and Hutcheson as well. Weir back from the dead, Steyn out of nowhere. f**k knows.

That bench though, dear me. I think I'm officially out on Toony. Edited March 6, 2020 by Savage Henry
afca32
Wtf is wrong with that bench? Edited March 6, 2020 by afca32
honestly united
If Hutchinson is out, we have no cover for 10. You put Weir on the bench as cover he can only play 10, and Hastings could only really move to 15. Steyn is the ideal option as can cover centre and wing so you have all positions in the backs covered. I think Jaco van der walt joins the ranks of kilted springboks in August along with VDM so gives us another option at 10
Detournement
The bench looks good. If we are defending a lead Duncy is a great sub to bring on. Steyn definitely deserves his chance. Good to see Skinner back involved as well.
Allan Jacobsen
Not really getting the dissent about the bench. Looks quite good to me plus if we're losing by two points in the 80th minute then big wee Dunc can be relied upon to knock over a drop goal that I originally thought was going to miss and made me call him a stupid c**t* to win the match: *drink was involved
