Jaggy Snake
Price is always so slow to use the ball at the back of a maul. Gets both Scotland and Glasgow into trouble with it far too often.
Detournement
Dumb from Fagerson to carry that into the Irish forwards there. Porter illegal on the maul but nevermind.
Mark Connolly
There were 3 Irish players there who had done exactly what Fagerson did at the earlier maul. Result? Play on, penalty Ireland at the next ruck.
Mark Connolly
He's grabbing the face, which would be a high tackle, and therefore foul play anyway, regardless of a gouge. TMO even says he grabbed the jaw.

Maitland, Graham and VDM? Could justify that. Maitland is the best defender of all our back 3 options.
Mark Connolly
The tighthead is driving straight in -that's why the loosehead hits the deck, and why there is space to go blind. The TJ is 10 fucking yards away from that at most - how can they not see these things?

I think an on form Hogg is the best full back in the 6 Nations, but it has been quite some time since we’ve seen that.
honestly united
Irish prop in at an angle but gets the penalty
Detournement
Given Maitland's age I'd stick with Hogg. If they were the same age I'd drop him. Hastings could be an option but his kicking from hand isn't great. The ref here is happy to debate everything and anything with POM and Murray but only the Scottish captain.

Ultimately can complain about Irish cheating as much as we like, but they've been doing this shit forever. Not playing to/managing the ref is one of the very many game management failings we have.
super_carson
We can point the finger at the ref all we want, but Scottish discipline is shocking. If you're giving away that amount of penalties at the international level, you're on a hiding to nothing. Murray is a perma-whinge but all good scrum-halves are. You remove the opportunity to be pinged by not taking risks at the break-down. You're more likely to regain possession from pressure from a solid defensive set by forcing a kick or handling error than you are through a penalty at the ruck.

TBH, that's just a general point from me. Wales got away with fucking murder against Georgia last week, England the same against Ireland themselves, and you see it happen in every game now. They can argue all they like about "the dark arts", but with the number of cameras on scrums now, there's no excuse not to have the TMO looking at the overhead shot and say "Blue 3 driving straight in on engagement" or "Red 1 driving straight up". Scrums are nowhere near as complex or mysterious as they used to be, yet they still have these muppets ignoring obvious infringements so they can show off that they know technical ones.
Genuine Hibs Fan
The sin binning absolutely changed the game. Having Taylor, a competent linking centre, working with Jaco gave us a pattern and a platform we've rarely seen for a long while. No coincidence that Hogg was actually making the odd half break and Harris/the forwards some strong carries. If we can carry that on, get the wingers more involved and drop Finn in there then we could have the attack looking more effective again. We were shell shocked by the physicality at the start of the second half and once ireland have a few points on you it's not gonna end well. It's worrying that so many of the issues we're having are still mental. Just seeing the playback of the yellow there fucking hell that's a bad call Edited December 5, 2020 by Genuine Hibs Fan

John Lambies Doos
Ffs, about 50% of posts during the match blaming the referee. Tbh it's getting boring lads, we are Ireland's bitches plain and simple.Depressing.

Leggy Blonde
Ref had a dismal game but Scotland weren’t much better. Especially once Ireland picked up a head of steam, we had no answer. Almost one way traffic after the sin binning.
