  1. yeh not the greatest, dunno how many of those appearances are from the bench
  2. wonder if that would be Dale Hilson, if rumours are to be believed?
  3. Will ‘highlights’ be available for those who couldn’t make it yesterday?
  4. The ref was actually advised by his assistant to give a red, he was obviously unsure. I think Aiden made a genuine attempt to for the ball but was slow and that made it look reckless. had it been against Montrose I’d have been screaming for a red right enough
  5. not wanting to start ant rumours, but on Saturday I heard that Lesser Hampden will not be ready until well into next season at the earliest, ie 2023
  6. Never thought this game would ever be a classic and it turned out exactly that way. Awful pitch condition meant neither team could play any kind of decent football. Quinn’s header aside, there was rarely anything to trouble either keeper. Queens went close with a free kick, looked far too close for my liking but that was maybe just due to my vantage point. Happy to get back up the road with 3 points and zero injuries from the tattie field
  7. Decent performance on an awful pitch, neither team could play any real football, good header from Quinn to win it
  8. it went ahead, was hoping for some feedback as well as I couldn't make it
  9. Lyons' red card is being appealed, but I'd be surprised if he played anyway, the Firhill surface isn't really one to suit his game
  10. As soon as the penalty was awarded CJ was running to get the ball. He’s been scoring recently so guess he felt confident. I’d have kept Milne away from it after his attempt earlier this season.
  11. Agree on all counts. Not sure who else should have stepped up to take the penalty though, maybe Eli to get him off the mark? As much as I think Brown could turn out to be a good player I think this level is above him currently.
  12. Another frustrating Montrose performance. Played well in first half, forced Parry in to 3 or 4 good saves, including the penalty. Think the ref went with out shouts from behind the goal to award it, not sure if it was handball and he certainly couldn’t have seen it from where he was standing. Second half was so flat. Not sure of the substitutions that took off our attacking threat. Red card never helped things. Not sure if match coverage would clear it up, appeared that Clyde player had a hold of Lyons’ foot as he went to get the ball and ref saw it as a stamp? It seems now that links park is a place where teams are happy to leave with a point, frustrating for us but just a few years ago that would never have been the case. Big game next week to extend the gap between ourselves and QP
  13. Important to get back to winning ways for the Mo, and a game that should provide that opportunity. Hopefully we have Gardyne and Quinn back, although should still be strong enough without them
  14. No snow, just a wee bit of wind and rain. It’s more the surrounding roads that were troubled by snow today
  15. I think whoever loses this can realistically rule out automatic promotion, even at this time it's hard to see Cove dropping many points. In the 3 fixtures against them this season I have seen nothing to suggest they are any better than the Mo, but have a way of grinding out narrow victories. We have the upper hand over Airdie so far this season but this will no doubt be very close. Hopefully Blair Lyons is fit for the game and some of the play from the second half against Dumbarton will be in evidence for more of the match on Saturday. I would not be surprised for this to be a draw, which only helps Cove
  16. Thoroughly frustrating afternoon, 3 points would have come in handy given the other results. 1-1 at the break was probably a fair score line in a fairly dull half. Montrose started the second much better, some good build up play but no end result. Big Aiden unlucky to see his attempt hit the post. Then Dumbarton decided to stop play at every opportunity by going down and rolling about like they’d just been shot. Took all fluidity out the game and pretty much ruined it as a spectacle. Definite red card, stupid reaction but would have been born out of frustration due to the negative tactics from Dumbarton. Fair play, it got you a point but I couldn’t watch that week in week out. plus point was Lewis Milne getting 45 minutes of action. Looked good on the ball. Was it a tactical switch at half time or was Lyons injured?
  17. As said earlier, Dumbarton are one of only two teams to come to links park and leave with 3 points. Need to make sure that is not repeated, especially after a great performance against Falkirk. New signings are bedding in well, as well as Blair Lyons, Cammy Ballantyne and Aiden Quinn performing the best they have all season. Here’s hoping that all adds up to an exciting victory
  18. That free kick incident was bizarre, he appeared to award Falkirk the free kick, book ballantyne then give the free kick to Montrose all at the same time. He’s been piss poor in all games I’ve seen his ‘officiate’
  19. Deserved 3 points for Montrose. Cracking first half, chances at either end, Fleming making saves and Montrose just not pulling the trigger. Disaster from Seagull for the opener but rather than heads go down the Mo scored 2 good goals to lead before Webby was inches away from a third. Thought we scored our 2 goals when we had our poorest period of the half Second half was a little less end to end, more a midfield battle which Montrose won. Masson must have won every challenge he made. Simpson was able to come on and hold the ball up from the front, good shift from CJ before he made way. Gardyne, Lyons and Quinn were top performers for me, need to take this performance into next week. Decent gap opening up between us and 5th spot
  20. hopefully Lennox is fit as I'd be more confident with him in the sticks instead of Seagull. Can't really predict the Mo starting X1, centre back pairings have been varied of late, or even played with 3. Hopefully Terry Masson is back in the starting line up, will need his bite and drive I expect. I predict a high scoring draw, hopefully Simpson and Gardyne get off the mark and can start finding the net regularly to cement a play off spot for the Mo
  21. i doubt anyone will touch Hester until his court hearing has passed
  22. I thought that ruling was only in use for games in which VAR is being used? I could well be wrong. agree with with your view of the game. We were poor first half, Webster, Lyons and Gardyne switching positions a few times never really helped us. Second half was much better but we seemed to lack any idea when we got within 18 yards of goal, just shoot!! regarding the officials, I was near the far side linesman second half and he was awful. Luckily he was never up with play and missed a few potential offsides in our favour. we now find ourselves 10 points off the top and I cannot say I’ve seen anything to say Cove are 10 points better than us, other than an out and out goalscorer. Still well in with a shout of top 4 though which would have been our aim at start of the season.
