I’m in a group chat with some diehard Cowden fans, and the general feeling is disappointment there’s no communication, explanation, clarity or whatever you want to call it over the signing of Craig Thomson.
The club is danger of alienating some fans without communication over this.

What do you expect the club to say exactly?

I SUPPORT COLT TEAMS IN THE LOWER LEAGUES

This is about putting Scottish football first,

My priorities as a Scottish football fan.

    1) Scotland has a strong national team.

    2) Scotland produces club teams who do well in Europe.

This would allow both things to happen.

I think Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Motherwell and Dundee United should all have colt teams in the SPFL.

This is about maximising the chances for young players to develop.

This is about ensuring that all the most talented Scottish players can develop,.

3 - And some clown will say well why don't Celtic and Rangers put all their first teams as a team of young Scottish players,. Bu they would get slaughtered in Europe then. Not even part time teams fill their first teams with under 21 players.

This is about ensuring that young players develop without damaging the first teams of Scottish club in Europe.

4 - Why do some clowns think their part time football team finishing 4 or 5 places higher in League One, is more important than Scotland producing top players? No wonder Scottish soccer fails with that divisive tribalistic attitude.

I WANT SCOTLAND TO PRODUCE TOP PLAYERS., END OF STORY,

And yet if Celtic, Rangers or a big English club sent a youth team to play these sides in a friendly no one would bat an eyelid,

And the loan system is not enough,5because someone the players might not be wanted by the smaller clubs at their stage of development.

1 - Ah is this because Andy Robertson started off playing against League 2 clubs?  All makes sense now.  We're just trying to replicate that one example.

2 - why do lower league clubs care if Celtic/Rangers do well in Europe?  Why does a colt player playing Cowdenbeath mean in the future they'll be able to compete in Europe?

3 - why can't they play their best Scottish players in the league and then leave their star foreign players fighting fit for the European games?

4 - I don't really care that much about the national team.  I'm obsessed with my club team.  If Scotland win I smile but I'm not going to lose sleep over defeats.

5 - ah so the clubs in League 2 don't want them as they aren't ready for this level of football.  Stop and have a think about that for a minute.

You're clearly an utter moron (or a supporter of one of the Old Firm).

  3. We were looking after our 7 year old nephew last week who has been struggling with his maths at school.  I wrote down some sums ( like 12+15, 13+19 etc) just to see if he'd manage to cope with carrying the 1 etc.

First sum he does was 12+15 and he's sitting trying his hardest with it.

    "Twenty six?" he asks nervously.

Before I can say no my wife starts cheering and goes "Well done!".

The look on her face when I pointed out that maybe she should be doing the quiz as well....

  4. Firstly let me state that what he did was horrendous I can remember sitting at an airport reading the papers when the news first broke.  However I'm personally a firm believer in giving people second chances if they show genuine remorse and work to improve themselves in the time after.  However I'm also not one of the fans who'd be shouting abuse at Goodwillie, Tiffoney or anybody else guilty of a crime.

Thomson appears to have knuckled down and tried to improve himself. I had no issue with him playing for Edinburgh City so I think it's a bit cheeky of me to suddenly think it's a disgrace that we've signed him.  I'm maybe in the minority here though.

He said in Falkirk herald interview that he would probably go with just 1 or 2 loanees - more chance of developing them than having larger number who end up not playing. Looking at the squad I’m wondering whether striker maybe option, or goalkeeper (currently only got 1 fit keeper although we played tribalism keeper last night). If we will be playing 4-4-3 we are well placed with 7 defenders and 6 midfielders.

if we only take 1 or 2 on loan is it really a ‘fancy’ strategic partnership?  Anyway we have done well getting the bulk of a squad together in good time to gel. Some teams got very few signed

Must be a good joke to be made here but I can't think of any.

Got to give  Thomson a chance ,we have all did stupid in the past some of us never been caught !!!! Other fans from other teams will give him a hard time , AS fans do  but he is in our family now an every family got a black sheep !!! let him prove himself on the park and lets support him!!!!!!!

Not sure I've ever done something that stupid though.  Worst I can think of is eating some Millions straight from the Pick n Mix in Moffat.

  7. So the current team:

GK - Cammy Gill (signed from Dunfermline)

DF - Ross Clarke, Fraser Mullen, Craig Barr, Jamie Todd, Ross Pollock, Lennon Watson, Craig Thomson (Edinburgh City)

MF - Robbie Buchanan, Kyle Miller, Gavin Morrison, Harvey Swann, Kyle Hutton

FW - Liam Buchanan (Alloa), Kris Renton

Left - Michael Herd (Spartans), Iain Russell (retired), Jamie Pyper, Mac Whyte, Jay Sandison, Jacob Glass, Lewis Owens, Ryan Finnie, Graham Taylor (Berwick)

  8. 5 seasons with each club paying £290K to the other teams. Can't get promoted beyond League 1.

What an utter load of shite. Nothing about this is good and it's a disgrace that they're trying to take advantage of clubs struggling due to the pandemic.

It won't get voted through but FFS stop trying. They've not even given the Lowland League trial a go to see if the players actually enjoy it.

I can relate. Also applies to friends and workmates when messaging via WhatsApp/Facebook/Instagram.

When i ask who she asks what she should write when she's messaging me, it's "but that's different"

Think I've said this before on here but my wife does this loads.  She always starts it with:

"What should I say back to *insert name here*"

Firstly I don't care.  Secondly I haven't a clue what the conversation is about.   Thirdly see point one.
