  1. Apparently. £4m has been suggested as the donation. And at the weekend the cost per week for testing was £2k per club ie £100k pa x 42 clubs. I think it's a bit of a logical jump to suggest to suggest it will cost £100k per annum for a club. It might cost £2k a week right now, but there's absolutely no guarantee that that will still be the price in a few months time, nor is there any guarantee that we'll even need to carry out tests in December, let alone this time next year.
  2. If he wants it to be split differently it can be split differently. There are a number of mechanisms for that, the simplest being for him to give the clubs the money himself rather than going through the SPFL formally.
  3. If it's a donation from a third party then it's entirely up to him how he wants it to be split.
  4. Aberdeen weren't saved from the playoff by reconstruction. That playoff only existed because of reconstruction. They were saved from the playoff by Falkirk's shoddy ground. It's true to say that Aberdeen (who never earned their place in the top flight on footballing merit in the first place) were saved from relegation by league reconstruction.
  5. Doubt it would be streamed given that it'll be live on BBC Alba (and potentially BT Sport).
  6. Given what happened with a player Accies fans all told us was shite, I'm looking forward to see how good a player they actually rate is.
  7. Yes, it's astonishing that a Reuters article might be taken more seriously than a discredited Comical Ali type professor.
  8. It's all relative though, isn't it. Motherwell bring in more but also spend more. If the income disappears but the outgoings don't then it's going to be the bigger clubs who are in a bigger pickle.
  9. I agree that any handout specifically for lower league clubs can't go via the traditional sponsorship route. This is surely another reason why Doncaster can't simply accept the money without being provided with some sort of document outlining how these mystery benefactors want to distribute it. I'm not necessarily sure that it's true that the Premiership clubs need the money the least though. Every club will be severely short of funds right now - I can't see why Motherwell would somehow be better off than Queen of the South, for example. If anything, the larger the club, the less likely that ordinary fans are going to provide sufficient funds to keep them afloat. However, it is certainly true that the money from the benefactors will go further with lower league clubs, since they'll generally need less of it.
  10. At the very least, even if you wanted to suspend automatic promotion/relegation for these short seasons, you could still have the play-offs (or even extended play-offs) to ensure some movement between the leagues and something to play for.
  11. Exclusives from Hearts in exchange for doing Budge's bidding?
  12. Or the LL might call their bluff and say "Planning to run your League Cup group stage with 38/39 clubs, are you"?
  13. From a business point of view, the cost of ending 2019/20 is almost certainly much lower than the cost of failing to start 2020/21 on time. You're weighing up breaching the last few games of a less valuable deal versus breaching a five-year deal worth over £150m.
  14. The Scottish Cup is planned to take place when crowds have returned, so no this fantasy scenario won't be taking place. And they won't be in Europe, because the teams who are participating in Europe have already been decided (obviously, because the Europa League will kick off long before the Scottish Cup is completed).
  15. Even more than this, as of right now the Scottish Government has not even allowed the Championship to resume, even behind closed doors. Football has its own legal and legislative process which clubs can follow. Hearts are more than welcome to challenge this decision first to the SFA and then to the Court of Arbritration for Sport in Lausanne. They chose to be members of the SFA and therefore chose to abide by the SFA's rules. If Hearts want to be part of a football organisation which uses the normal courts, then they are more than welcome to set one up.
  16. Shotts Bon Accord took the Central Junior League to court in 1995 and were banned from the league for a year before having to re-enter in the bottom tier.
  17. I haven't heard about this either, but I'm pretty sure Hagi will be registered as a Rangers player already anyway.
  18. My guess would be an abridged qualifying tournament, perhaps similar in nature to what they have in the Women's Champions League, where four clubs play a group stage in a single venue over the space of a week or so.
  19. There is absolutely nothing at all in that document to suggest that "they're not gearing up for football". They've confirmed that all football activity is suspended by the government until 10th June, and that once that is lifted additional measures will need to be put into place for it to restart. They're allowing registration of leagues, teams players and coaches, which suggests they do envisage these starting at some point. Almost every other answer comes down to "you can't do this before the 10th June, we'll update you at that point".
  20. You're surely not saying that they're able to predict things and look into the future rather than remaining paralysed and making no decisions while we're still in Phase 1? Based on what I read elsewhere on this thread I thought the Scottish Government would just have said to schools "We can't at this stage provide any indication of when we will move into Phase Two and therefore we can provide no date for the return to schools", rather than telling them they should prepare to return on 11th August.
  21. They may not be able (or at least willing) to do so publicly, but they clearly can (and have been) with major stakeholders throughout.
  22. It's not really a pointless exercise is it? I think it's reasonable to expect that we will probably have reached Phase 2 in two months time. Even if we are in Phase 2 the resumption of any large scale events such as football will require government advice to go ahead. Fortunately for Scottish football, the government aren't chippy weirdos who will stonewall every reasonable question with the sort of generic thing you've posted, and have been actively consulting with sporting bodies about these things almost from day 1. They're not going to guarantee anything, but they'll be able to advise whether they think it's going to be reasonable.
  23. The other way around surely? They told Sky when they were starting and Sky therefore started charging again.
