  1. He seemed to do an okay job despite a horrible owner and squad. I certainly would not mock him. I imagine he will be picked up by a decent Scottish team in the summer.
  2. Top 6 is gone after yesterday sadly. I think we just have to continue plugging away to 40 points, then work on a system for next season in the remaining games. I don't see 3-5-2 as the long-term solution if we lose two of the three centre backs.
  3. Agree 100%. Very underrated player whether behind the striker or in a midfield three.
  4. Hmm... Bigger club and I'm sure he's getting bigger wages but for me, it would leave a bit of a bad taste. We picked him up despite his overhanging court case and then re-signed him immediately after he got out of jail. I'm sure he'll say he's shown enough loyalty but with the likely exit of Halkett, I think he could have stayed a further year. He will improve Motherwell's centre half options, without question.
  5. Pleasing to get a positive result after the news of John Bain's death earlier today. I read an article recently about his time at the club from working with Ferranti, playing for and managing the team before becoming honorary life president. A constant presence throughout our history and a very sad loss. Hopefully the club can go someway to commemorating his legacy at the stadium. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/3016431/livingston-football-john-bain-almondvale-spfl/ The article.
  6. On paper we've conducted some really good business in this window. Promising talents and experienced heads in whilst loaning out youngsters for game time. I really hope the club are doing all they can to get Lawless, Halkett and Gallagher to sign new deals.
  7. That was caused by fannying around with a system that works and trying to shoehorn players into positions they are not suited. Erskine got absolutely roasted on the left when we switched to a 4 at the back. Horrendous from Holt and hopefully a lesson learned. Tiffoney looked like a good option when he came on. Pleasantly surprised. Also happy the players looked up for it at the end. Hardie back in next week for Erskine and we stand a chance of getting something. Mentalitywise, it's a massive game. Really need to get some of these injured attacking options back in. How far away are Robinson, De Vita and Miller?
  8. Lyndon Dykes from Queen of the South on a PCA apparently. Good move for us, I think he'll fit into our system well.
  9. Agree with all the comments. Tough challenges for both players, I hope they do well. Think we're down to 23 first team players now which is a bit lighter than previously. Most concerningly for me is the defensive situation given we do have some good attacking players to come back. Presumably Menga is looking good for Sunday.
  10. Said it in the match thread but I think that corner of Tynecastle made inswinging corners difficult. Short run-up and cables running along the ground. Our corners have generally been pretty good this season.
  11. That's a good signing for Thistle, I'm surprised Falkirk weren't in for him. I would have kept him for cover personally.
  12. Conversely, 10 points over the next 17 games would be abysmal. Surviving was quite rightly our aim at the start of the season (as it will be next season) but now we're in a great position, we should be getting behind the team as much as possible to try and challenge the top six. We know the players will put the effort in; the fans need to do the same.
  13. Don't blame him, there was hardly any room to get a run up. They should have had a right footer on corners at that side. Think we got it wrong tactically today. Wylde is not ready to play wing back within our system and should have been hooked for Lamie at half-time. Maybe he will get better but if he continues like that, he should only play as a 10. Hardie should never have been brought off either, even if he wasn't having his best day.
  14. The guy is a unit. I wonder if they are looking at a permanent deal, I don't see much point in bringing him for 6 months to cover GHL when we already have Van Schaik.

  16. Depends how big an impact you're talking (e.g. top European leagues) but otherwise I completely disagree with this. Dominance in the air has never been an issue in any of the games I have watched him play. He is also exceptionally good with the ball at his feet. There were so many times last season where he would intercept in defence then start an attack through the midfield before releasing to a winger or striker.
  17. Wouldn't surprise me if Saunders leaves permanently or on loan. There a lot of Championship teams that he could do a job for and I don't think there is much benefit for him or us in him just playing reserve football. McMillan/De Vita covers right-back, van Schaik centre-back, Cadden/Crane/Burns left-back.
  18. Good post. For me, the only chance of him signing with us would be if we offer them a swap deal for Halkett and get the deal done this month.
  19. Ha! Actually listening to him after, it sounds like he was being genuine in his praise before the rest hopped on it thinking he was being sarcastic. So you were probably right and I should know my place.
