    post-11339-0-52064700-1340143025_thumb.j

Seb's just the man needed at Ibrox given how well he controls his budgets...

This is what we need and not a penny more

Oops forgot the vat, More money please

Oops spent it all. More money please

Oops spent that too. Even morer money please

Oops we didnt spend it after all.

Look Look...weve brought it in under budget.

Oh well done Seb. You are magnificent. Have a knighthood and a couple more peerages.

  2. I hope that when we get to 1965 that someone points out that it was the greatest year ever in the history of the Scottish League.

    :):):):):)

Nee naw nee naw nee naw ...WOW...Everyone hold it right there....this is the pedant police...the afore mentioned table has obviously been reconstructed by a modern day whipersnapper. All old buggers viewing this crime scene should know better. Shame on you I say. Shame.

  3. Just received this from The Daily Ranger - given that I'm apt to think the majority of people registered with the DR are likely to be followers of Newco I thought I should post it on here so we can give them a more balanced view of the thoughts of the average football fan.

    Simply email your answers (e.g. 1=A, 2=B, 3=C)

How on earth do they expect Oldco & Newco supporters to work that out?

  4. There is your post, season in the singular, obviously a type error on your part so for my sarcasm i apologise. However the graphic is a nonsense in that this investigation is covering the EBT years,2001-2009,nothing to do with any other season up until that point, whereas the poster was trying to infer that clubs from 1988 up until 2011 suffered from cheating by the club. Which as i said is a nonsense.

    Oh I say, jolly good.

Whilst trying to discredit the graphic, you stated it has no foundation whatever and is nonsense. The fact that too many years were included does not detract from the fact that all the actual years were included and the list correctly lists the runners up in those appropriate seasons. It is therefore far from nonsense and is indeed a very good foundation for assessing the clubs that suffered from Rangers cheating. You're post was therefore almost totally wrong unlike the graphic, which wasn't wrong but just included too much correct information than was needed.

  5. 7-2s original point, as I read it, was that Rangers should disappear completely. I disagree. If it was United I would expect, and probably get, every sanction including kicked out the SPL. I wouldn't object to this. However as a fan I would want a club that could start at the bottom and work its way slowly back up. We cannot bang on about sporting integrity then treat Rangers newco differently.

Again, in his original and subsequent posts 7-2 brought in the bigottry issue. That's not what we're dealing with here. If we think the SFA/SPL should address that issue then that's fine but it's a seperate matter.

My point is indeed about them disappearing completely because that is what they have done. I'm not killing them, they've done that themselves. I just don't think we should them resuscitate them. That's where the difference lies. it's the only way to save Scottish football in the long term.

For the current situation, you are quite right, the bigotry issue isn't being dealt with. It should actually have been dealt with numerous times over the decades but of course wasn't. However, if we are talking about a club applying to join the Scottish league set up then it should come into the equation. Just as owners pass a fit and proper test so should any applicant club and their supporters. For that reason alone they are not fit and proper to be sent all around Scotland as representatives of the 'SPL brand' nor represent Scotland. The oldco/newco supporter argument wouldn't wash either...pun not intended but I wish it had been...as without the oldco supporters the newco would have no supporters and therefore no income and business plan therefore unsuitable as a league football side.

    Just kill 'em off!

  6. One sanction which should be applied, but hasn't been mentioned yet is a choice of strip to reflect the years of cheating, tax evasion, bigotry, intimidation etc, etc. The SFA should impose a strip so that every time they take to the field they carry the mark of their shame with them. What would be your "uniform" of choice for The New Rangers in Div Whatever? My choice would be black and white hoops from the shirt, through the shorts and right down to the socks with only black boots allowed. (just like the old silent movie convicts)

They also have to play Broadfoot in every game. That'll be the equivalent of the ball and chain round their ankle.

  7. I think Rangers should suffer severe sanctions - no newco admission to SPL, SFL to decide if they admit them to division 3, existing fine, 3/4 years out of Europe and signing ban. Once that's happened they should be allowed back in and allowed to work theur wat back up.

I hated Rangers (and their 'neighbours') long before this all happened but it's important we apply the rules equally. Any team who has committed offences should pay the correct penalty then it should be over (if not necessarily forgotten).

Even allowing for my hatred of all things OF, the situation is that Rangers have killed themselves. They've put themselves out of business. They haven't just broken some rules or gone into admin and therefore need to be punished. They no longer exist through their own actions. Unless we take this opportunity, no matter what sanction is handed out, within a few years the duopoly will be fully back up and running and Scottish football will be back to the normal '3rd place is success' situation.

The only way anything will then change will be when some form of cross border European leagues are formed, the OF join but leave their reserve teams in the Scottish set up. I would expect that these teams would be strong enough to continually win things without perhaps the total stranglehold currently enjoyed.

As long as the Old Firm are in existence, every other club in Scotland is consigned to being also rans. Scottish football can only thrive through true competition without them. We have now been presented with a once only opportunity to free ourselves of one of them through their own actions. To do this, we actually need do very little. Let someone like Spartans in Div 3 and everyone move up one. A couple of seasons budgeting readjustments and then off we go, building a new Scottish football set up. You can't get much more positive than that!

  8. I did think of that but then thought it would be too big a list to compile. Have been to Brunton Park a few times in the past as well. As a student my local team that I regularly went to see were Rushden and Diamonds. They got into a bit of trouble with the taxman as well. Although its's fine, I heard theyre now called "The Rushden" and were admitted to the EPL...

    Oh wait....

Yep, they rightly got their comuppance. Not what the Doc ordered.

One of the good things about living the the North West of Ingurlnd is the number of footy options. I could keep myself going for a month down here for what it costs to go to a Saints home game. I'm with you on the Wigan situation. A couple of beers, game of pool and discussion with the locals about the merits of Gary Caldwell in the Queens Arms is an interesting experience. I'm still alive to tell the tale too.

  9. Newcastle, Sunderland, Liverpool Everton, Wigan and I suppose the Manchester clubs aren't that far away. And not impossible to get tickets for. Just a shame Blackburn and Bolton got relegated.

Depending on your work schedule Milan and Bremen are fairly easy and relatively inexpensive to get to for a game every now and then.

You...you...you glory hunter. Lots of decent stuff played below the EPL and certainly better than a lot of the SPL offerings.
