  1. Like others, I was glad when I saw the starting line up, and thought the changes were correct, albeit I've said recently (and seemingly ruffled a few feathers) that league position is more important than performances, but today was absolutely inexcusable and the coaching staff and players all need to take a long, hard look at themselves after serving up that "performance". I'll accept workmanlike/professional/grinding/unspectacular performances when the points are rolling in, but today wasn't that. You could see that we weren't at the races from minute one. And that's not acceptable.
  2. Utter disaster from first minute to last. I said to my mate about 10 minutes I tears it wasn't our day and something was missing. We were the architects of our own downfall at both goals, and could (perhaps should) have conceded more. Hester had Carswell on toast for the 60 minutes Carswell lasted, McNiff was all over the place, Buchanan and Long got in a fankle several times and Lynas was shit. Midfield non existent. Russell McLean was rotten. Every pass we made all game was to an Elgin player. Elgin weren't great, but if you keep passing the ball to the opposition, standing off them, letting them run by you, not tracking runs and not showing an option for your teammates then you're going to lose. Felt Elgin players went down constantly from first minute to last, plus time wasted, and both the ref and stand side lino were poor BUT neither the poor officials or Elgin gamesmanship had an effect on the outcome, that was purely down to us being abject.
  3. Great free kick by Blair but otherwise its not working at all. We look shite. As does the pitch. As do Elgin. I counted 4 Dumbarton mistakes in the Elgin goal. Long 45 minutes coming up.
  4. I'm always falling out with people over philosophical matters.
  5. That's not so good. Jim's a smashing guy and since he took over you can actually get a decent pint in the bar now. Hard to tell much from that statement, without purely speculating on what could be behind it.
  6. Big phase of the season coming up. In 6 games' time we'll have a better idea of whether we finish with a title, or slide into playoff ignominy.
  7. Not exactly a surprise as we've stuck to the winning team and 4141 system all season bar one match which we were pumped in. He's not going to change the system or the line up that's been working and nor should he. Anyone complaining about that is a moaner who should be looking at the table, not wasting time second guessing what's working for us.
  8. Anyone picking Scotland v Cyprus over a top of the table clash between Binos and Sons is a weirdo. International football is crap at the best of times, but even more so when it's an important club game.
  9. Enjoyed the podcast as ever. Thought Aitken came across well.
  10. All fair points, BUT, we haven't changed tactics all season bar the Stirling disaster and are sitting 7 points clear in February. Whether it's easy on the eye or attacking enough for the punters isn't really an issue, it's moot because what we're doing and how we're set up is working. It may be slightly nerve wracking to the fans, but it's effective and one simply cannot argue with results and consistency.
  11. Great result. The moaning on here about negativity and soaking up pressure is relentless, but the team keeps winning. Perhaps the moans are misplaced.
  12. Old nickname for Boyle from his Killie days, wasn't it?
  13. The Facebook fans' group is a meeting place for people who wear velcro shoes. As for reality, Farrell deserves credit for having us set up well and sitting top, particularly for sitting top for an extended period. However he is too keen to stick to the adage of "don't change a winning team" and should be more adaptive to circumstance, such as setting out to be more attacking when merited.
  14. Can't blame them celebrating a point against the Sons. Don't mock little Stenny.
  15. Take the point and move on. Thankfully Stirling did the same so the status quo remains and we're still top dogs.
  16. Seems a sensible swap from a Sons perspective. I would hope McGeever can get the games to show he still has the legs and return to Sons in the summer. Definitely not fit to play for us currently so not sure what Clyde get out of it.
  17. A search would confirm or disconfirm but I think it may have been me who pointed out that Grim O'Grady was on the rob with his "please send me money as my house burned down" stuff.
  18. What are posters known on PnB for? ICTChris is know for starting interesting threads and always signing them off with "have PnB users ever...?" Ruggy is famous for the banhammer and marrying a child bride. Div is known for being a bald tory. Viking ton is known for petty bickering and his petty bickering catchphrase 'be (very) specific'. I popularised the phrase WaffenThinMint is Bible John because he was a weirdo of such intense proportions (even his username ffs!) that it occurred to me one day he probably could be a murderer. Also Scheme Goblin to describe trampy schemie behaviour. I also once won best Dumbarton supporter and joint worst Kilmarnock supporter in the same season's end of season poster awards vote.
  19. Been a member since 2008, but browsed from 2006 or 2007 before joining. Stopped posting for years when bored with it, but logged in again one day in 2020 or 2021 when bored at a previous job and skiving. Used to post loads when I was much younger and worked in offices as it was an easy way to dodge work. Work for myself now and time is actually valuable to me as a result, so you can all be relieved to see less of me.
  20. Yes there will always be those looking to exploit any situation. There's been a few accounts of naughty behaviour from the international legion and the Georgian legion. Saw an interview with a recently returned UK volunteer recently that said a lot of guys from those units are over there 'on the rob'. Saw another with a French Canadian volunteer who said that the military gear they're supplied with is stolen and sold off by the Ukrainian officers.
  21. I don't fancy a long, slow, painful protracted death, but I'm not afraid of dying. My wife and kids lives are the only ones I'm afraid for. But hopefully I'll be long dead before any of them.
