  1. Having watched the highlights the first goal we conceded is very disappointing. Euan Cameron could have booted the ball up the park but loses it cheaply and Lyon absolutely done at RB. And it takes a couple of unlucky deflections in the build up too.

As I thought at the time, there is f**k all wrong with Peter Grants goal, to see a foul on the keeper there is a joke.

Kennedys first booking is a farce, but the second was stupid, the boy was going nowhere.

Still not convinced Cunningham was offside when played through.

Nothing wrong with the alloa winner, just incredibly disappointing to lose a goal (and the game) with virtually the last kick.

  2. From speaking with the podcast guys, they find their superfan very flattering, if not a tad stalkerish.
Onto the football. Poor result today. Roberts goal a highlight but still work to be done on the individual errors.
    Anyone got a manager wishlist?

Reckon we are going with Moore for the foreseeable unless something gives with the Danny situation.
  3. Can’t quite believe we managed to lose that today. Felt we were the better team for long spells and rarely under pressure from alloa. Kurtis Roberts played really well when used in his proper position centrally for once.

The standard of officials was terrible throughout, almost laughably one sided. We had half a dozen bookings which eventually (unsurprisingly) led to a red when there wasn’t a bad tackle in the game. You are allowed to challenge a goal keeper in the air from a corner, somebody needs to let the ref know. Peter grant had a goal ruled out for nothing I could see, Ross Cunningham given offside when slipped through and still trying to get past the defence. A collection of baffling and frustrating decisions.

Felt most of the players were playing for the jersey today and that’s all we can realistically expect, it’s not their fault that the squad is inbalanced and some players just aren’t good enough. That’s down to the recruitment. Giving certain players abuse from the sidelines isn’t going to make them any less shite I’m afraid.

Finally, fair play to Peter grant for acknowledging the fans at the end and trying to encourage his team mates to do the same. We are on a horrendous run but hopefully if we keep playing like today we can pick something up soon.

Our season is now basically a head to head with Peterhead for 9th and a chance to stay up via the playoffs.

  4. Surely questions need to be asked about that new 2 year deal he was given in April this year.

    What was that based on?
We were on a run of 2 wins in 14 games when DL signed his new deal. We had literally just been spanked 3-0 at home off Peterhead. We only managed 3 wins in the full league season that weren’t against Alloa or East Fife.

We are now left in a position where we are paying him for nothing for (potentially) the next 18 months.

The decision making at board level is consistently terrible at this club.

  5. Agree and disagree with this.  The 2 goals we lost v top of the league Dunfermline this week, were not caused by McLean or P Grant. but by 2 individual basic errors from experienced players.
If anyone has played football to any decent level they'll tell you the understanding between players, particularly defenders, is huge.  Because DL can't decide on his 'best' selection nor formation, no understanding is built. Maybe that's where the problem is?

The first goal you’ve got to look at Gomis losing the ball but that was well into the Dunfermline half, they broke on us far too easily after that.

The second goal was a poor header by Parry but wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t have everybody up in their box looking for an equaliser.
  6. Where are they now

That’s got nothing to do with your point on budgets though does it? Clearly our lowly budget is not being best utilised is the point.

For example we have 4 experienced cbs when 2 would do plus a couple of younger lads/cheaper options. We have no full backs worth the name. We have very limited options in wide areas of midfield.

What summer signings have actually been a success?

Ray Grant for sure, jordan Allan probably, duthie looked good before we lost him. McLean is steady enough. It’s not exactly been a resounding success though.
  7. You talk some shit what are you expecting promotion into the championship. You need a reality check as he was given a relegation budget hence the has been players and the young prospects and the need to turn that into results.god knows why we engage with you.

Arbroath had arguably the smallest budget in the championship last season and finished second. Surely you can find a couple of bog standard league one full backs on our budget. If not getting rid of the 3 or 4 shite ones would free up some cash.
  8. Put it this way get rid of DL and watch the team get relegated.I have no doubt he will start getting results.I think your a fair weather supporter.

You have no doubt he will start getting results? We’ve won 5 out of 29 league games in 2022, when will we be seeing these results?

He is also clearly incapable of building a properly balanced squad given he hasn’t managed to sign a full back worthy of the name in all our time in league one.

I don’t care what he achieved with st mirren a decade ago, I’m judging him on the here and now and finding him woefully short.
  9. Hypothetical question I know but would that one man have made a lot of difference to your season so far? He certainly ran us ragged that day tbf. True, Connelly has been available for selection after serving his ban, but think the Gaffer left him out of a couple of squads as punishment for his stupidity, he hasn't featured anywhere near as much as would have been anticipated. In fact his mum even asked him if he'd fallen out with the gaffer 'cos he wasn't getting game time. I do accept your point though.

Difficult to say of course but he carried the ball forward extremely well that day and the left hand side has been a real problem since with us having absolutely no similar styled replacement. We’ve tried various players including Kurtis Roberts and Gomis there with disappointing results.

We are three or four players short of an even close to functioning team and duthie will not have to wait long to reclaim his place on return to fitness.
  10. Also went last night, Clyde looked disjointed, not knowing what their jobs were. On the 3 or 4 occasions that decent crosses went in, there was either no one gambling or big enough to win headers. The only way was to push up and stop the Pars playing, force them into mistakes. Add some old heads and the youngsters may prosper.

We don’t need any more old heads, what we need is two fullbacks, at least one centre back who can run, some presence in midfield and a striker that can win headers and hold the ball up.
  11. Get Lennon to f**k. He’s just done saying the back 3 didn’t work and holding his hands up for it and we play it again tonight.

Thicot and Lyon are absolutely shite, get them binned.

Gomis dreadful tonight too and should have been hooked after about 30mins.

Dunfermline bigger, stronger and faster than us all over the park. Constantly pumping high balls at Allan with which he had no chance against their defence.

  12. Seems to me that with recent league results, we aren’t heading upwards anytime soon. I think what the board may be thinking at the moment is do we finish above Peterhead and survive the play offs? Dangerous to take a chance on that, but it’s also a big gamble on Lennon leaving (can we even sack him?) and assuming someone else (none of us can even suggest a replacement at the moment) and see us nabbing 8th.
    Worrying times.
Edit: we’ve only won four league games since Goodwillie left. Now, before anyone jumps in, no, we can’t under any circumstances even think about it, but it makes you think about our way of approaching games and the end result since. Overly reliant, and we’ve no idea what to do to find a replacement for his goals.

We’ve only managed 5 wins in 28 league games this calendar year so far. Dreadful.
