  1. Archaic - it prob'ly went over to Murica with The Pilgrim Fathers - like I've said before you've gotta think like a Murican. I should've trusted my instincts and gone for it on guess 3. Wordle 566 4/6
  2. Arry's book Spare has been "accidently" released a few days early in Spain and apparently addresses the big question. I didn't expect that subject to be touched until book three. Not much left to sell after that, he says hopefully...
  3. What pisses me off is the "one drip at a time" nature of the revelations - this is never gonna end.
  4. Nope as I mentioned yesterday my reason for disliking the the current ScotLab iteration is it's decision to elect an exploitative corporate shill as their leader, someone who can be trusted to jump exactly as high as Sir Keir requires. There seems to be a bit more promise in the generation to follow Sarwar but they've yet to turn that promise into credible reasons to think about voting ScotLab. Alba is led by Mr. Sleepy Cuddles and filled with backwards looking malcontents you sum them up pretty well - it really doesn't surprise me that they appeal to a corporatist acolyte like yourself.
  5. That joint endorsement says more about you than is good to reveal..
  6. EE will have options, he'll be weighing them up - this is likely to be a last day job.
  7. 3½ year contract for a player at our level - that's bold.
  8. Just a pity Sarwar's a throwback to Wilsonesque Labour with that can't be exploitation if it's one of ours doing it attitude.
  9. That would do more much more than standardize "in-play" time, it would affect teams game management tactics - no more ball boys going slow or RowZ clearances leaving non-footballing defenders at a disadvantage - might we see another cathartic moment like Thommo's last minute equalizer against Oldco - the result that tipped them over the edge IMO. Would it finish like Rugby Union where games don't finish until the ball goes out of play after the allotted 80 mins?
  10. Another chance for us to display our improved resilience, although I wish it wasn't necessary.
  11. How long can Labour go before they decide folks what have changed their mind since the Brexit referendum are more numerous than the Farage Ultras in the Red Wall seats who probably won't switch back to Labour anyway?
  12. Tommy Turner - came to Saints on what seemed to be the downward spiral of his career which seemed to be confirmed by the start when he fell out with TonyF and was sent on loan to QotS. He was recalled by Tom Hendrie to much indifference as I recall but proceeded to captain us to the First Division title in the maddest of all Saints seasons I can recall. 99/00 - how many last minute winners, a revenge 6-0 win over Raith, 4 wins against Clyde which drove Graham Roberts insane, 12 players sent off against us over the course of the season and that fabulous month of April with 4 nervy 1 goal winners, so many cult players that season but Tommy Turner just wins with his "Who me, ref?" routine which he used at least twice a match after late tackles.
  13. I've got a dog and while I'm on a walk usually meet another dog/owner combos. After the ritual sizing up and sniffing (by the dogs) lady owners will often say "Come to Mummy" to their pet (twice today), male owners saying "Come to Daddy" are less frequent - cringeworthy! PS - Never kiss a dog, think about where there mouth/nose has been.
  14. It might vary on a given day but No.1 will always be Cinema Paradiso Cinema Paradiso (always makes me cry) Goodfellas One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Dune (1984 - David Lynch version) Blade Runner Goodbye Pork Pie (NZ road movie - 1981) Apocalypse Now Once Upon a Time in America Judgement at Nuremburg (Even after the car crash Monty Clift was still a good looking guy!) Unforgiven Can't believe I've omitted The Godfather 1&2, chosen Once Upon A Time In America and not one of Leone's westerns. The only one unlikely to be in most folks Top 100 is Goodbye Pork Pie which I'd recommend it's a road movie about a guy who gets a Dear John letter from his girl and sets off in a stolen Mini to win her back, nothing that's not really been in every other road movie but the setting (New Zealand) makes it a bit special. Am I the only person in the universe who found the casting of Morgan Freeman as Red in The Shawshank Redemption just too tokenistic in 1940s New England?
  15. Apologies for butchering your post but my feeling is that refs will tend to go for the safe option such as in this case upgrading the yellow to red, with the expectation that this will be almost always be backed up post-match. As I said earlier in the thread I feel long term this will result in more red/yellow cards - still no point longin' for long hair & AC/DC them daze are gone.
  16. Lifted over the turnstyle at Love St. (all I remember) as a 5-y-o in Nov68 by my dad to see Hugh Gilshan score the winner against Oldco. The weather was foggy (according to reports) the attendance was 43,500 and we moved up to 3rd spot unbeaten in the league. Went into school on the Monday and declared myself a Saints fan. We lost the next game to Aberdeen and managed to fight our way down to 11th - missing out on that Top6 spot and it's been that way ever since.
  17. I actually respect someone willing to make an oldskool in yer face post, to many nicey, nicey "we're worse than youse" posts made while secretly sticking pins into a voodoo doll of Eamonn Brophy.
  18. So it being an example of " the Scottish Government's xenophobic and racist policies" only existed in your head!
  19. It's all part of the dance his agent will be using this story to leverage a better deal, if he goes it will likely be close to the deadline. Plenty EE stories still to come....
  20. IMO the Pittman sending off shoulda been yellow but you can see why the ref changed his decision to red. It'll be interesting to see if this becomes the new criteria for a sending off, if so we're gonna see a lotta them.
  21. I'd been hoping one of County, Killie or United would get cut adrift but they seem to take it in turns to pull off a big win from the bottom spot - one of you should really do the decent thing and make that bottom spot your own. Saints are near the top of the mid-table log jam and given the resilience we've shown in general and that there are 5 teams between us and the play-off spot I feel we should be safe (famous last words), as a pessimist I've rarely felt this secure before the New Year. A win against Killie in our next game would do nicely....
  22. For me that's the most important point (sic) about last night's game - it's further proof that we are a more resilient team this season under Stephen Robinson.
  23. We've been here before, more than once, summed up best by The Four Tops. the same old song four tops you tube - Search (bing.com)
  24. I throw Ricky Gillies into the debate, youngest player ever to play and score for us, highly rated but unfortunately tipped as AC Milan standard by Tony "Top6"Fitzpatrick, he seemed set for a move down south but failed to impress during a trial with Liverpool and came back to Saints. He moved to Aberdeen where he failed to shine and returned as a last day loan in March 2000 to help us get clinch the Division 1 title. He stood out (scoring 10 goals) in the mediocre squad that went straight back down in 2001 and was expected to move on that summer but it never happened. He stood out at times back in Division 1 but when Gus MacPherson took over as manager he was replaced by the incoming Andy Millen in what became a more, erm, robust midfield - hard to argue against the decision but Gillies still looked skilful in the few sub appearances he made before moving onwards and downwards. As I said all the skill but just lacking a combative edge.
