  1. Tesco still playing elegiac music as opposed to their normal Radio Smooth fare - it's what she would've wanted.
  2. I note with interest The Grauniad is not taking any comments re Lizzie's legacy and has published some surprisingly (to me anyway) hagiographical pieces like this one from Andrew Rawnsley... I also note Stewart Lee has submitted a piece this weekend which I was to stupid to see...
  3. IIRC he was one of a pair of Austrians who played one game for us during Tom Hendrie's dog days... Foreign Players | Stmirren.info Klaus Dietrich (Marlene would've been better and she been dead over 10 years!) and Gerhard Fellner - the list is a bit of a mixed bag.
  4. Well off topic but I remember after Queen played Sun City in South Africa and were put on the UN blacklist, there were mutterings that they shouldn't be allowed to play at Live Aid. Lucky Nelson was a forgiving kinda guy as the remaining band members were allowed to play at his 90th birthday party. Or are these false memories?
  5. Yeah I remember that story which brings me back to my point about Liz using the "Queen's Consent" privilege to grift money from people who were immeasurably poorer than her... Mother of the nation with the common folks interests close to her heart -hmmmmm!
  6. Fuxake - copying that photo has got me an Amazon recommendation for his Greatest Hits elpee!
  7. Essentially this, the pro-monarchy position is a clear example of cakeism. During her reign Liz used the "Queens Consent" to seek changes to proposed legislation over 1000 times protecting her own interests and I see no reason why the she (and the RF) should be above criticism as many of their supporters want when arguably her preoccupation was grifting., I certainly don't agree with the selfless, mother of the nation, line that is being pedaled by the MSM.
  8. Bit late to this thread, although I'm a republican I'm not perpetually raging at the RF, mostly I just wish they'd go away (they can even keep their obscene wealth) I only get annoyed when they start lecturing us about the environment and how they're just like any other family - so that's just about every other day then!
  9. Alice Cooper in the same age as Prince King Chuck, will undoubtedly be able to supply his own throne and is sure to be more interesting....
  10. The result has been drawn out longer than a talent show and just like a talent show there's been precious little in evidence.
  11. Let's go the other way, how about a chillout album by Motörhead guitarist Würzel, it's obscure and quite hard to find excerpts online but I'd say it's worth it.
  12. Let's hope he's not over to pick things up this weekend. If I were the export manager from the brewery who supplied the quote I'd be a bit worried about my job.
  13. That's where we are in Normal Island with the the Tories saying "last 12 years - nothing to do with us" and Starmer's Labour party unwilling to be more than a hair's width to the left of them so it's left to to outsiders like Lycett to speak "truth to power".
  14. So far this season we've played 6 games scored first in 3 and won them and conceded first and lost the other 3, I'll admit that this is maybe not as exceptional as it sounds because the course of a game is often settled by the first goal, but it is a continuation of a pattern set last season and during his dog days at Well @capt_oats - am I getting my knickers in a twist too soon or do we need to develop a Plan B for when we go behind? Just for the record I'm reasonably satisfied with Robinson's record so far and think we'll be competitive amongst the Bottom6 teams but there little room for error for a team like Saints.
  15. I think it's important that the investigations into Johnson's actions are continued and taken to their conclusion - if not you just know that 6 months from now his supporters will be claiming he was vindicated by the process, big calls right etc.
  16. You scored first - we've yet to come back even for a draw during Robinson's tenure.
  17. You're probably correct that Gogic won't start today but he's an experienced footballer who'd have been looking for a club so he shouldn't have been that far away from peak fitness. On the assumption that he'll never get a start as long as we keep winning I hope he never does. Edit - Forgetting about Mark Yardley, he must've spent every close close season sitting on the couch and eating 10 pies a day.
  18. I realize it's a GrumpyOldMan post but if I'm not going for a post match beer then it's better than later trains on a day like yesterday when one of the OF is playing at home - there's normally quite a few Saints fans on it (some of whom I recognize & greet) but yesterday it was just me & one couple. Just part of my match day experience but nobody has to reply, let the thread die before it gets old...
  19. You'd like to think so but I remember thinking the same at some point during their European campaign last year but we managed to go behind within 5 minutes and lose comfortably. Just to add my voice to the chorus I've never considered Hugh Keevins as anything other than an OF lickspittle.
