  1. The team Ross inherited from Alex Rae were poor but in the 3 months till the January transfer window they were much, much worse. Ross was given substantially more money than our immediate rivals (Ayr, Dumbarton & Raith) to revamp the squad that window which tbf he did - incredibly well - but I don't see him getting the same time or money, relatively speaking, as he did with us again.
  2. My main worry is that energy price rise is not gonna be a spike but the new, erm, normal. Ner cast a cloot till May is oot and all that.....
  3. Shocking post, unless it significantly affects Saints league position, like a matter of relegation, I want every other team to beat the OF. Expelled from the Diddy Alliance!
  4. Our game with Hibs finished at 4:58 yesterday and I got a lift from my mate to the train station which I reached at 5:12 (due to temporary traffic lights) with 2/3 mins to spare - I couda got there walking if I'd gone at soon as the final whistle was blown and not stayed for a minutes applause. Less of a problem if we lose - get it sorted Robinson!
  5. That's what I was saying (trying anyway), we scored on our first attack and this meant we were happy to play on the break, Hibs looked bereft of ideas especially after they missed that sitter just after H/T and by about 65-70 mins looked done and with better finishing we could and should have increased our lead in the last quarter of the match - Hibs clearly had no Plan B and I've rarely felt as comfortable defending a 1-0 lead against one of the bigger team. @Arch Stanton Last game on Sportscene.
  6. Fair enough on your first half opinion but the 31% Possession and 2 shots on target is on the BBC match report (it was also my impression) so I don't see how that can be unfair. Like I said I felt Hibs self-belief waned as the game progressed and by 65-70 mins they were playing like they knew it wasn't gonna be their day and again like I said we shoulda from at least one of our breaks. At least we're both happy with the 3 points.
  7. Scored from what must've been our first decent bit of possession and Hibs were by far the better team in the first 45 - happy to go in at H/T ahead. Second half Hibs still had the bulk of possession but I felt the longer the game went on the less likely they looked like scoring and their confidence ebbed away and as so often happens we had better chances on the break - shoulda really had a second. Youan shoulda had a red card as everyone in the ground knew and him being subbed 60 seconds after his verbal warning confirms this. 31% of possession and just 2 shots on target - delighted to take them thar 3 points.
  8. I don't really hate Hertz, in similar circumstance I would probably hold a ridiculous grudge for 30-odd years - it's one of the reasons for being a fan. We can of course agree to raise a glass to the real hero, Albert Kidd.
  9. Didn't want to mention the T*p 6. Anyway as a long suffering Saints fan I'm just counting the days down to our next "Robbo must go" crisis - I'll say before the Feast of Samhuinn!
  10. The Ferrier episode happened pre-vaccine so at that time the rules were not nonsensical.
  11. Gogic emerges from from cellar to sign deal, great work by Lasley.....
  12. Stinky pinky... Former NRL star Corey Norman gets eight-match ban for 'hand between buttocks' | Super League | The Guardian
  13. An utter embarrassment, yes, but then I look at the dictionary definition of scum and it's clear that's how Sunak & Truss see me (Scottish & working class) so I get counted twice. The answer is to know your opponents but not to hate them.
  14. Probably the same year one of the OF wins a European trophy again - congratulations to Aberdeen for being the last Scottish team to do so which makes the OF and their bigotry based financial domination of Scottish football just that little bit less special.
  15. There's always a bit of action, both ways, towards deadline day, intrigued as I guess it will be an indicator to how good Lasley is gonna be as COO...
  16. If you comb your hair forward you're in! *************** Edit - OK, it was a combo of that and ditch the beard.
  17. ...John Lennon asked Ringo Starr to join The Beatles.
  18. Diddy clubs like ourselves need two game plans - one for the OF and the other bigger teams (Hearts since they rejoined the top flight) and one for the scraps with each other - IMO Livi have been the best of the diddy clubs in this respect far better than us since we were promoted in 2018. Slightly off-topic but in a similar manner I wasn't too worried by our poor LC performance last month as I didn't see it as being relevant to our League campaign - I was far more worried by the two opening losses in the league coming despite a decent performance against Well and similar start against Aberdeen, but yesterday has left me a bit more relaxed.
  19. It's an art form - being able to commit a foul and not getting booked for it, and it's a lot harder than it was 10 or 20 years ago. Our ex, Handsome Jim was a master at it until he got caught elbowing that Dundee Utd. starlet (where is he now?) after that HJ was a marked man and often booked for innocuous challenges which were barely fouls. Our 99/00 (Tommy Turner) and 05/06 (Andy Millen) First Division wins were in no small measure due to these guys being masters at it. Every team needs a horrible wee shit of a player!
  20. Resilience - so far under Robinson we haven't come from behind to win or draw. It's what good teams do - they get a "result" in adverse circumstances, not always admittedly but we've not managed it once under Robinson's tenure.
  21. "pretty decent until...." always one set of fans saying this and it usually doesn't end well for them.
  22. I honestly feel we've got that doomed team vibe this season - come on @elvis will you marry me?
