  1. Happy to see us get a fair bit of our business done early, all players with experience in the division - I presume we are looking at one more similar short term and then holding back to see who is freed up towards the end of the window in August.
  2. We're living through a re-run of 80s sitcom "Yes, Minister". It's clear BJs plan for NI is to hunker down and hope the EU take pity on the province.
  3. I could have made it clearer but I always saw the song as a personal lament about his own decline, that he was the Green Manalishi but maybe I'm just looking at it too literally. In Man of the World Green sings "But I just wish I had never been born" - I saw an interview with Mick Fleetwood where he said that maybe (sic) they should've looked at some of the lyrics and tried to help him at the time.
  4. Yeah, rewatched Jack Johnson: Unforgivable Blackness on PBS America last night and he supplemented his income with stage work and "uncompetitive fights" where he took it easy with his opponents over 100 years ago. Mind you one opponent hit him too hard and riled him and Johnson knocked his front teeth out in retaliation.
  5. Associating BLM with Marxism is classic dogwhistle politics, you can't deny that structural racism still exists within the UK so right wing commentators look to find examples where the two overlap and present these as the mainstream of the BLM movement - clearly lapped up by their online supporters.
  6. Yeah, I was on the strict side of the debate until about March when the vaccine/third lockdown had obviously started to kick in, we knew there was gonna be some rise in cases et al as restrictions eased I think the government has to hold its nerve.
  7. Maybe I've got it wrong but I always thought that song was a straightforward example of Peter Green's drug fuelled schizophrenia. For me it's when Joe Strummer sings "If I go there will be trouble, if I stay there will be double" it's obvious Joe - you should go!
  8. Interesting show on the subject tonight @8:40 on PBS America (Sky 174) - Terror
  9. First "on the record" witness to state he heard BJ make such a statement.
  10. IIRC Dargo's signing was greeted with unanimous approval within our support - unfortunately for us he suffered a pre-season injury from which he never really recovered but there was no baggage prior to this.
  11. Ah Hillsborough, another of Boris's journalistic triumphs.
  12. He was a goal a game striker for Killie, if he could do the same for us I wouldn't mind if he put Boris Johnson over his knees and poured lumpy custard down his arse.
  13. I guess the relevant question is whether Neilson enhanced his reputation last season or otherwise?
  14. A semantic point which only serves to undercut your argument - the hate and intolerance is what matters.
  15. I can understand the lack of enthusiasm but surely confirming MacPherson/Millen and getting your business done early is the best option. Lotta managerial vacancies and I don't reckon yours would be the plum job, if you do decide to sack them, it would leave you near the back of the pack wrt building for next season.
  16. Surprised to see Mellon go he seemed set on staying in the post-match interview on Sunday - family moved to Scotland, lovely location to stay, joined golf club in personal terms and after a mixed first season back up onwards & upwards on the footballing side so I suppose he's been offered a fair wedge to move back down south. No offence but I hope you bollox up his replacement.
  17. Cheeky little phone call to Lafferty's agent in order? I doubt we'll be able to afford him but he'd be an asset to any top flight team outside the cheeks...
  18. Not that I spend much time worrying about Labour but the old tribal allegiances are disintegrating and if they are going to make any sort of recovery it doesn't seem like they're going to do it by repeating the Blair Formula of the 90s i.e. emphasizing Tory incompetence and sleaze, though they seem decent enough reasons to me. They're gonna have to male people want to vote for them and for me the target groups would be then gig economy workers by offering better workers rights and Green sympathizers genuine Green politics as opposed to Nimbyism is left wing so no contradiction there.
  19. What I see is the UK securing a mediocre deal from a position of weakness - and pissing off one of the groups that was at the emotional centre of the LEAVE campaign into the bargain. Are there many more "win-win" deals to follow? ******************* Moving Off-Topic Ms. Truss came unstuck this morning on the radio when after claiming the Govts. recent review on Racial Disparity was well supported she was unable to name anyone who had actually done so!
  20. Glad to see Flynn getting an extension. I don't expect him to be a regular starter but he's still good enough and can play in a few positions plus most importantly he's the last name on my /18/19 Championship Winner's mug. Is the JDH offer appears to still be on the table (IIRC we were hoping to conclude it within 7 days at the turn of the year ), would be surprised and delighted if we can get Durmus to re-sign. Oh well as Scarlett O'Hara used to say nest season is another season...
  21. His link-up play is good and when forced to shoot early scored a coupla crackers for us but given the chance he'll overthink things and let the opportunity slip away. Like everyone else says appears to be a genuinely likeable guy...
