  1. The SWPL should have known that there was still a card of men's fixtures below the Premiership, though. You're not getting the maximum exposure you probably could have if you're competing directly with other SPFL games (plus all levels below that) for viewers/attendees on the Saturday. This point still stands even if the final didn't involve a club whose men's team is featuring on the same day. If they had scheduled for the Sunday instead, however, the competition it was up against would have been far less. That would be maximum exposure. It's not just Brian Graham who is affected by this either. There are staff members and volunteers at Partick Thistle who will have to make a decision or be told which game takes priority. Plus the fans - I imagine you'd get quite a healthy support at Tynecastle to cheer on the girls if the match didn't clash with the Arbroath game. As it is, they'll get a fraction of the support they would have got without the clash. Pretty shite for them. Eta - just clocked that the SPFL Trust trophy appears to be on the Sunday as well. So not quite zero competition for the women's cup final, but still far less than on the Saturday anyway.
  2. I’m so, so sick of this repulsive franchise getting to the AFC title game every single year. f**k off.
  3. There are two sets of fans who might care a wee bit about it.
  4. The BBC, as usual, are going to make us sit through the extended highlights of Celtic battering some Highland League mob first.
  5. Thought we’d win, just because it seemed like a very Thistle thing to happen. Didn’t expect a pumping, though. Fair play to them.
  6. League instead of Union, but Jordan Mailata has done a bit more than that. I do think the chances of a skill position player making it are much slimmer, and especially one who is trying to do it purely from the point of being very fast. Let’s see how he can adapt to wearing the pads, and learning the nuances of the WR position compared to playing rugby. As you said, he’s soooo far behind the Americans who have been playing since they were very young.
  7. McCarthy seems a very likely departure, with Sirianni a 50/50. Some of the stuff coming out about Daboll recently doesn’t make for great reading either. He won’t lose his job, but I think he might be on much shorter leash going into next season after the reports/leaks the other day about him essentially being a massive dickhead on the sidelines all year.
  8. We beat County in the LC in 2019, which was a particularly surprising result considering we had Gary Caldwell in charge. For the Scottish Cup, I can't think of one since we beat Inverness on penalties in 2005/06. For an outright 90 minute victory against a team from a higher division in either Cup (ie. not counting any kind of AET/Pens), I think it's Dundee in the 01/02 Scottish Cup where we won 2-1 at Dens en route to the semis.
  9. He’s a St Mirren fan, so I doubt he was even at the game and is only in here looking for bites - which you’ve given him.
  10. Saw a few tweets about that this morning. We’re going to hire a GM first and haven’t even interviewed a single person for the HC post yet, so this seems very presumptive media reporting. Pierce can’t just be appointed without following the Rooney Rule process (there’s a certain irony behind that) and the Raiders haven’t even attempted to meet the criteria yet.
  11. Kraft has talked glowingly about him for years, and Mayo got a new contract last year when he possibly could have taken other jobs, which suggested the Pats had told him he’d be next man up. And so it has proven. Doesn’t feel like the most inspiring hire. Continuity at a time where they probably should have gone in a different direction.
  12. Would be surprised if we signed Ashcroft as well as O’Reilly. Pleasantly so, but definitely feels like we could use the budget to fill other holes.
  13. He's the best RB in this league imo. There are no real weaknesses in his game - he's reliable defensively because he's strong, has decent pace, is good in the air and can tackle, but he also gets up and down the pitch and chips in with goals & assists as well. I think he'd make the step up quite comfortably. I didn't expect us to even have him this season after his amazing form in the second half of last year. Not surprised at all if he makes the step up this time.
  14. Nah, not when he’s only 15 wins off the NFL win record.
  15. Bill Belichick leaving NE. Not unexpected, but still a big deal. Got to imagine that’s the final HC domino fallen now. Vrabel or Mayo to take over there seem like strong possibilities, but the bigger question is where does BB land?
  16. Moving upstairs, most likely replaced by Dan Quinn according to the media talking heads.
  17. Yeah, that’s kinda my point. After a failed DC hire, the Chargers really should be pairing Herbert with an offensive HC rather than another defensive guy.
  18. Why interview 4 minority (DC) candidates then?
  19. Editing what someone has said and writing “FTFY” is very 2016.
  20. Fingers crossed we'll be playing him next to Neilson, with Muirhead to the bench where his recent play has suggests be belongs now. Won't hold my breath on that one, though.
  21. Wes McDonald away back down south has freed up a wage. He was apparently on a decent whack for a guy who never actually played. I don't know a great deal about O'Reilly, but judging by the Raith fans' reaction I take it we've got a good one.
  22. This feels like a mistake. Maybe Titans fans will disagree but I feel like he did well and overachieved with mediocre rosters.
  23. In saying that, I’ve just seen that they’ve also requested Patrick Graham (Raiders DC) and Raheem Morris (Rams DC) - they definitely didn’t need to do all of those if they were only looking to fulfil the RR. They’ve also requested to interview Dan Quinn so that’s 4 DCs. Strange for a team who you would imagine should be really looking at an offensive minded guy to pair with Herbert.
