  1. That's a good point and I nearly mentioned it. Not sure who is playing wide left for Accies just now but they have a number of quick/tricky options and defending against pace certainly isn't one of Robbo's strengths. On the other hand, well though Dave McKay has been doing, I always feel more confident about our central defence when Taggs is in there, especially against a quick attack. So I'm not sure I agree with your "definitely". ETA I haven't listened to this week's podcast, so certainly wasn't picking up on any views therein. Will have a listen now.
  2. Started the thread as there are a couple of posts on the game on our club thread. Have copied what I said there: We are doing well and Accies have struggled at times recently, but they are still favourites on Saturday. Winning is a habit, however, and if Steven and Wales can maintain their overall form, and strike rate in particular, then anything could happen. Hopefully Cammy is fit as his absence would leave us looking more fragile on the left. I'm assuming Robbo comes in if McKay is out - that doesn't weaken the side IMO.

  4. A couple of thoughts having watched the highlights. I think the red card is worth appealing. Not sure it will be changed to yellow, but think it might be. On first viewing it looks like a dangerous lunge and a red, but it's not as bad when looked at more closely. I've listened to a few of Hartley's post match interviews recently including yesterday's and he seems very subdued. Understandable given results, but I'd still expect more spark and positivity from him.
  5. Indeed. Good signings. We are lucky to have them to enjoy at the same time. Credit to Andy for getting the best out of them. I see in his post match interview that Paul Hartley was annoyed his players allowed Taylor to cut in and shoot on his left as they had been told about his goal against Stirling. One thing to know it might happen, but another to stop it! ETA The real pressure is now on @Kevchenko to come up with a suitable name for Taylor. ☺
  6. That's Wales and Steven with twelve goals between them. Eight of those (four each) in our four wins (so far) in February. I'm expecting the SPFL monthly divisional awards to be heading our way.
  7. That's some result! Taylor and Bobby on fire. Can't wait for the match reports and highlights.
  8. Agree with the general consensus. Not a good performance, but Andy is clearly right that the win is the most important thing. Having said that, if we keep playing like that (and as we did second half versus Stirling) we won't keep the winning run going for long. Of course Andy will know that and will look to address it before Saturday. It seems to me the main issue is midfield balance/quality. Miko has done well, certainly defensively, but we could be doing with someone who can put their foot on the ball, keep it better. In Stevie G's absence Robbo or Scougs deeper seem our best options In that respect. Andy is right again though to highlight the team's spirit and the options he has on the bench. We were talking early on in the season about being very short in attack. Now we can bring on all of Buchanan, Sammo, Roy, LD (and even Coulson if we get team sheets right ). Big shout out to Sammo for his goal. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but he still has a big role to play at the club. Credit to Annan, they played well and have some good players. They are fighting for survival and if any of the team's above them falter they will feel they can stay up.
  9. Jack Ross and Allan Maitland were both articulate, but Andy has that and more. I was talking to Kurtis Roberts' Mum and girlfriend at the game yesterday and they said he's loving being at Alloa (as pretty much all players seem to). Andy and the rest of the older players (Taggs, Robbo etc) are a big part of the reason why IMO.
  10. Agree with both of these points. Kurtis a clear MotM for me yesterday and really good to see Robbo getting a full ninety minutes in, during which he went about his business in his usual quietly effective way. I'm sure he's claiming an assist for Steven's corker of a goal. I thought the defence looked better with Taggs central, it seemed to allow Morgyn Neill to concentrate on what he does best (attack the ball in the air). I'd be happy if Andy went on Tues with the back four which finished the game. As others, including the manager, have said it certainly wasn't our best performance, but we got the job done against a decent Stirling team. Not sure about a couple of Andy's subs, but he knows the bigger picture better than me. I really like what he says in his post match interviews - who wouldn't want to play for him? Cove have been sucked back towards ourselves, Montrose et al and so there are now two places to play for. A positive.
  11. He's Scotland's full back.
  12. @Oweny makes a valid point re our defence, but if Wales and Steven continue their form I'm hopeful we can get the win. Would never underestimate a Darren Young side.
  13. Kurtis is a very important player for us. Especially with Stevie out.
  14. We've completely lost the plot. Need to go back to basics, keep the ball and slow it down.
  15. I asked the question "what can we expect" on the SM thread and got the reply "full backs on toast". I like the sound of that. The other response was positive too, similar to your feedback LoganAAFC.
  16. What can we expect? Fast? Tricky or direct? Left or right sided? Good delivery? Eye for goal? What does he eat for breakfast?
  17. Some of them, maybe, but there are some which are well up for trouble.
