St Mirren against Motherwell
NorthBank replied to Doonhame Buddie's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Really missed Gogic in midfield today. Hope Joe or Declan are back soon to allow Gogic to run the middle of the park. Good win considering injuries/suspensions but wee bit concerned how light the bench is. -

So a wee boy Tweets St Mirren will sell a World Cup player for £400k and some a St Mirren fans thinks that is the correct fee? Rangers just sold a 20year old with 24 mins SPFL experience to Forest Green for £350k but we should accept £400k for a world cup playoff player? Juranovic's form was dire when he returned from the World Cup but Celtic didn't think 'oh, we'll sell him for £400k' . They said £7.5million which they got. Baccus is an excellent player who's form has dipped, like many other players returning from the intensity of a World Cup, but for St Mirren to 'fix' a transfer price at this point in time of £400k is just plain mental. We may not get what we hope but to punt him for peanuts due to a dip in form is criminal. -

On the right we have Strain, with Flynn and Tait for cover. On the left we have Tanser and no-one for cover. Personally I would be chasing a left wing back. Preferably Australian if Strain is anything to go by.. -
The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23

Jim needs to drop Stewart and find a new captain. Someone that can actually lead and knows how to pass forward and doesn't get sent off. That alone would be a massive improvement in the team. -
Darvel v Aberdeen 23rd Jan Live on BBC
NorthBank replied to Suspect Device's topic in Domestic Cup Football
Goodwin is the manager so has ultimate responsibility but I thought Stewart was the cause of the defeat last night. He is captain but constantly passed sideways or back to the keeper. I don't think I have ever seen so many non passes in a game. There was no urgency from the back line and few forward passes - back and side was the name of the game. Keeping possession in a one off Cup game doesn't get you a result when you are a goal behind. In contrast every time the Darvel defence had the ball they were pushing it forward. Goodwin should have been bollocking Stewart and Stewart should have been leading by example. Two failures. -

Brophy's record isn't great however it is a lot better than Main or Ayunga (discounting Ayunga's spell with a national League South team). They average around 3 maybe 4 goals a season and Brophy is about 7 goals a season. On Saturday we had no attempts on target in the first half with Main and Ayunga. In the second half Greive had a goal chopped off and Brophy had a header on target during his 8 mins of normal time. Considering we have drawn 5 of the last 8 matches one more goal per game could have given us another 10 points. Main and Ayunga try hard but they simply do not score anywhere near enough for the position they are playing in. For me it should be Main and either Brophy or Greive and give us a chance of an occasional goal and maybe turn a draw or two into a win. If we are paying Brophy it is madness to me not to play him. Thought he changed the game for us at Livi then he gets dropped which cannot help his confidence. Greive is the more natural goalscorer imho but Brophy is surely a better option than Ayunga? -

It is all about opinions. I do not rate Ethan very much. Everyone sees his good left foot (which I too rate) but seems to ignore his many glaring deficiencies (Gogic and Kiltie I rate higher). I won't change anyone's mind and no-one will change mine so there is no point in trying. I rate Stevie Mallan far higher than Ethan and he is playing with Salford in English League 2 which is maybe Ethan's level. Time will tell of course. I'll be happy to say I was wrong if he does get a starting place in a team higher than English League 1 but I doubt that very much. -

Not a great draw but a good money spinner. Morton would have come away with £320k on Saturday for a 40k crowd at £20 a ticket. A larger crowd and more expensive ticket could see us nearer the half million. And saw that Forest Green Rovers have signed McCann from Sevco for £350k on a 3.5 year deal. Reckon Ethan may now be regretting not signing. -
We have lost 2 of the last 9 games - Away to Hearts and Celtic. Hardly relegation form. Do you work for the b*****d Tories?
-
Lowest Home crowd of the season for some reason. 6K Buddies against Hearts and 3K for a Cup game. We have 4k season ticket holders so is money the issue? And as I have been saying for ages Main and Ayunga are a terrible partnership as they simply do not score. Why can't Robinson see this and do something about it? Main and Greive were good against Hearts Away yet Ayunga automatically gets back into the team and has a horror show at Parkhead then gets picked again for the Cup game. WTF. Sorry to hear French broke his leg. It was a really poor display by us but we got through which is all that matters.
-
Our poorest Home display of the season there. Far too many players were honking today and Main/Ayunga simply doesn't work so why does Robinson persist with it? At least we can score penalties and Carson can save them. Playing absolute shite and winning is a good habit to have.
-
Watched Dundee v Raith and thought they were garbage. Still relying on McMullan which shows how bad they are. We'll dominate but need Main and Greive or Brophy as Main and Ayunga doesn't score goals. Easy Home win.

We signed Taylor from Waterford and he hasn't played since October. The deal is short term to see how he would get on. However he was really good last night and far better than I expected - I thought he would be a real weak link. To be fair almost all of Robinson's signings have been very good. -

What a difference Gogic has made to the midfield. The man is a machine. Covers every blade of grass all over the park; closes down and wins balls off the opposition more than any player I have watched. Pity it has taken this long to give him a starting place. -

We played Away at Killie with 10 men for 89 mins and Carson only had two saves to make. We can be a very difficult team to break down. Injuries and suspensions make our squad very weak. Hopefully Strain is fit (excellent player) but Flynn did a great job when he came in on Saturday. Touch and go about Gallagher being fit - hopefully he is. Gogic is great in midfield but will likely be moved into the back line in Gallagher's place. Kiltie would come in for Gogic if that was the case. Biggest uncertainty is starting our new signing Richard Taylor from Waterford in the back line - a complete unknown. We can still rustle up a good starting eleven but will have Academy players on the bench which will be our greatest weakness. Tight game with few goals but loads of excitement. Away draw. -

Get real. Do you think Fraser, who had been taking our free kicks from that position, deliberately jumped over his own player to land on the Hearts guy to break his leg with a minute to go? Really? I was about 20 feet away from the incident and Fraser apologised to the Hearts guy and explained to the ref why he was jumping over them. The ref accepted the response until Var told him to take another look. Fraser had to go as he landed on the guy but there was no intent. Muppet. -

There was 1 minute to go and the ref had blown for a foul for us. Fraser jumped over the two on the ground to get the ball to take a quick free kick to launch it into the box for a last gasp attempt. Unfortunately he landed on the Hearts player.
