  1. JR did a great job at Alloa and St Mirren. Done a good job in the circumstances at Sunderland and took Hibs to their highest League position for some time. Don't know what is going wrong at Dundee Utd. Suspect he is missing his backroom team of Fowler, Potter and Samson.
  2. When we signed Gogic on loan last season I wasn't that fussed. However Gogic proved to be a brilliant signing. He was playing DM and doing a brilliant job covering the back line and was also able to carry the ball forward in mazy runs. A real winner. Was gutted when he didn't sign on when the season ended. Thought he was moving to Utd. Don't know what happened there but Utd's loss is our gain. Delighted to have him back on board and Utd really missed a trick in not getting him on board when allegedly they had the chance.
  3. JR is the one who is laughing. Sacked by Sunderland and has one year left on his contract. Gets a big pay-off. Goes to Hibs. Has 3 years on his contract when he gets sacked. Gets a big pay off. Joins Utd. Realises getting sacked is a good thing - big payoff and can sit at home and write his children's books. Fucks up the first few games and awaits his payoff on a 2 year deal. Smart move.
  4. Folk paying to much attention to a reply by a journalist from a fan. Robinson himself said the same thing weeks ago. No-one coming in unless someone leaves.
  5. I knew a guy who as a boy put the scores on the scoreboard at the old Brockville stadium. I think he said he had to climb a ladder to do so but I am sure a Falkirk fan may correct me. He got free entry and a pie for his troubles.
  6. Totally agree. We were talking about that during the game. Ayunga had some great wee flick ons to nobody as Main was on the other side of the pitch. Main does a lot of work but Greive or Brophy would be a better partnership with Ayunga. And Ayunga is the first striker we have had in a long long time who can hold a ball up top.
  7. I was more having a go a Ali de Foy. She fronts St Mirren TV every week and claims to be a great supporter being privileged to do the job. You would think some European night photos around the stadium would have given her a clue.
  8. Absolute shite from 5pm. Driving back from the match where there was a full card bar 2 matches. All I heard was discussion and an interview on tomorrow's games and midweek games. Barely a mention of today's matches. Get McIntyre out of there.
  9. Thought we dominated that game. Very good performances from Strain, Baccus, Kiltie and Ayunga. Kiltie worked his socks off and maybe went under the radar but he was instrumential in dominating the midfield. Pleased for Robinson.
  10. Rad Bradshaw 'have St Mirren ever played in Europe?' Ali de Foy (who calls herself a 'great St Mirren fan') answers 'no'. Maybe those nights watching the likes of St Etienne, Slavia Prague, Feyenoord (with Cruyff and Gullit) and Mechelin (who went on to win the Cup Winners Cup that season) wete all a dream.
  11. Times are changing. Many Clubs are now heavily involved in the community. I am not singling out my club as special but am referring to it as I know what they do. We have a charity foundation and a member of staff running it. Are having a team in the Kilt Walk next month to raise funds for local charities. The supporters sponsor season tickets to be used by various groups that cannot afford to attend games. We run fitness sessions for those needing/wanting to lose weight. We run a dementia support group. Have walking football sessions for those not so fit anymore. Have Street football coaching for local kids (1200 kids). The Club and supporters help with funding for a women's team and 4 girls teams at various levels. We have free pre-match entertainment for kids (bouncy castles, face painting etc). Last Home game we gave out free tickets to local Ukrainian families. We have regular Food Bank collections. Free Xmas meals in the stadium for those on their own. We are partly owned by the Kibble - one of Scotland's largest charities to help young people and young folk can get work experience at the Club (hospitality, maintenance etc). Our website has a Community section for latest community news. As I previously commented many Clubs run similar initiatives. These things were unheard of 20 years ago.
  12. And for the record I am not suggesting we'll be pushing for Europe. However unlike under Stubbs, I think our signings have been decent and it's far too early to call to call for the manager's head.
  13. We have played 2 league games so far. First we were by far the better team and the second we were competing ok until the sending off/penalty. Far to early to talk about must win games. SR has recruited some decent players and we have shown we can compete. I'll be giving them a chance before calling for SR's head. Last season Ross County didn't win any of their first 10 matches and made it into the Top Six and just missed out on Europe. How about we back off and relax a wee bit.
  14. Ethan has a great left foot and can pass. Defensively he is appaling. Fails to track back, doesn't close down and doesn't mark players. Looks lost when the opposition are attacking. I've seen an improvement in his work rate and attitude under Robinson but for a defensive midfielder he needs to learn how to defend (and tackle on his right side).
  15. Been listening to Sportsound for more years than I care to remember but had to switch it off yesterday. Little information on what was happening in matches and too much discussion on the OF. McIntyre is ruining it along with the muppets they call pundits.
  16. O'Hara is out because we played last Sunday. If we had played on the Saturday he would be OK to play (assuming no serious damage). Concussion means 7 days before you can play again.
  17. Paisley artist John Byrne exhibition in Kelvingrove is £7.50 New Order tribute Band at the Bungalow in Paisley £11 Showcase cinema Paisley £9.75 for the most expensive ticket. For each of the above I will be entertained; can buy a ticket at the venue or on-line; have access to decent toilets with hot water; won't be searched on entry. At one venue I can even have a pint. The others have cafes. It is no surprise that non-diehards won't go to matches when they can have a far cheaper form of entertainment at a fraction of the cost. Only the diehards go to matches these days and that will slowly diminish as price rises give us all less spare cash. Clubs will not attract more potential fans at current admission prices.
  18. McGrath is a good player. His last season with us he rarely saw the ball, along with the rest of the midfield, as Jim's one and only tactic was a long ball to the wing backs pushed up the park. The midfield was redundant. McGrath left us to a team who were settled and winning every week and won the League so there was no way he was going to walk in and change a winning team. Surprised he is not getting a chance this season to see what he can do as he was also a slow starter with us. Good luck to him. Jim wasted him at the end.
  19. We play Aberdeen this weekend. Can you buy tickets on the day? No. Can you buy tickets on-line? No. Away fans must purchase a paper ticket from the St Mirren ticket office which has restrictive opening hours. Clubs are making it almost impossible for folk to just turn up at 3pm for a game. I went to most Away games last season besides the OF but will be going to a lot less this season due to ticket costs, fuel costs and the difficulties in getting tickets.
  20. What pisses me off is St Mirren issue a statement before every game stating that any intolerance from fans will result in action being taken. Unless it is the OF that is. 5 mins in and the bile is being sung for all to hear except our BOD. I complained to the SLO who took it up with the Club and the Club response was they never heard anything. Cowards.
  21. Apparently Carson, Tanser, Main and Brophy are all fit for today which gives us more options. I'll buck the trend and say a Home win.
  22. SMiSA have been buying blocks of tickets for some years to give to local groups so its not a new concept. And The St Mirren Charitable Foundation and the Club have been involved in loads of community initiatives long before the Kibble or Lasley got involved. Lasley may be expanding on some ideas but we have been very much a community club since SMiSA was founded and regularly gave cash to local initiatives.
  23. That was my thoughts exactly. And Tam Cowan said earlier the journalist was a Well supporter who rarely gets things right.
