  1. Like something out of Starship Troopers: come and join a human wave attack at Bakhmut and get vivisected by Ukrainian machine gun fire.
  2. The answer to the bolded part is clearly yes in terms of the rules as published. When the SFA wanted the east and west regions of the SJFA to become feeders to the LL a few years back in pyramid working group meetings, the EoS and LL were able to block it from happening because of a similar playoff agreement that the SFA, LL, SoS, and EoS all had to sign off on where changes were concerned.
  3. My recollection was based on comments in a newspaper article that were posted on here. Might try to track it down if I have a bit of time. It made the announcement of Campbeltown Pupils' entry into the WoS somewhat amusing.
  4. Bo'ness United are in a similar scenario in that the ground was left to the people of Bo'ness at one point. Newtown Park is run by a charitable organisation for that reason that was set up by the local council in 2012 so there are definitely ways to solve this and become licensed: https://www.newtownpark.org/ https://www.newtownpark.org/about
  5. Reading between the lines of that statement the council not being able to process planning permission on floodlights because of a legal technicality is what likely made fast tracking impossible. It's good to hear that they are very much going for it and likely won't represent an obstacle in the way of other clubs going for promotion in future. Lucky break for Linlithgow Rose.
  6. Harthill Royal lost a game 0-3 by forfeit last season because they couldn't field a team away to Campbeltown Pupils: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021–22_West_of_Scotland_Football_League#Division_Four They came from the East Region Juniors ironically because they didn't fancy long away trips in the EoS to places like Tweedmouth.
  7. Interesting tweet from Blackburn United: Too many people had a simplistic SFA good vs SJFA bad mentality rather than a more nuanced outlook that could acknowledge that there were and are serious problems with how both of them conduct their business.
  8. Creetown have done a lot of work on their ground in recent years to have it enclosed and install floodlights so that's definitely possible. The waiver comes into play when a club is only waiting on a rubber stamp to officially receive the licence at the SFA AGM. The LL board has been flexible on that in the past.
  9. Creetown have no entry level licence so not a factor where the playoff is concerned has been the assumption on that on here. Do you know different?
  10. Seriously doubt the Conference League is ever happening because of who needs to sign off on the pro/rel changes involved but the threat of it appears to have been enough to get the B teams back into the LL which may have been the goal of the exercise.
  11. Unless the WoS has unusual rules for this it will be a 3-0 forfeit win for CP and some sort of fine for Thorn Athletic.
  12. Should have phrased that more carefully. Brechin City promoted with Albion Rovers, Bonnyrigg Rose, or Stranraer relegated sending Edinburgh Uni down to the EoS premier is one scenario to keep an eye on. Darvel or Auchinleck Talbot rather than Beith winning the WoS championship could also complicate matters in the west by forcing Linlithgow Rose into a promotion playoff but that's looking increasingly less likely.
  13. I know this guy is controversial but this is from some of the towns now reduced to rubble about a year before the war started:
  14. Wasn't to be. Lost on pens after a late equaliser.
  15. No idea what your problem is and I'm not losing any sleep over it, but this is not the first time you have bizarrely flown off the handle like this. An important adage to bear in mind is that you don't throw the baby out with the bath water. The SJC still has drawing power so it would be an act of wanton vandalism to discard it just because something something junior dinosaurs something something devil's incandescence something something senior pyramid.
  16. This competition can still draw a crowd in a way that the SCC quite simply doesn't: Not bad given East Craigie are involved.
  17. Been a while since I have seen tweets like this: whether it's actually true or not is another matter entirely.
  18. Technically count as a Borders club given West Linton is in Peeblesshire. That should round off the numbers in the third division to 12 next season. Too bad the Pentland hills are in the way or it would be a lot quicker for them to get to all the games they will be playing in West Lothian and vice versa for the West Lothian clubs. 16-16-14-14 would make more sense than 16-16-16-12 moving forward if there were no more applications in future but I suspect there will continue to be a slow trickle of new entrants. Still plenty of largish towns in the EoS catchment with no senior club and several recent Borders EoS clubs like Selkirk, Kelso, Duns and Eyemouth may be tempted to make a return to the bottom division when/if clubs like Hawick RA, Tweedmouth, Peebles Rovers and Vale of Leithen start plying their trade there.
  19. Only need to beat Keith now to set that up but having to play that game means they won't be as fresh as Buckie for the big game next Saturday. Elgin winning yesterday was a big blow to Dalbeattie Star's possible lifeline on avoiding relegation. Albion Rovers need two results in three games to catch them now with probable champions Stirling Albion as their last fixture while Elgin will play Bonnyrigg Rose in their last game.
  20. Think it's better for the competition to have a Tayside team in the final sometimes because otherwise the Scottish angle rings very hollow. Hope the better team on the day wins though.
