  1. It was good to be at another Shire match disappointed that its another defeat.  Had the chances to win it just wasn't going into the net for Shire. Missing Grant I think anyway and probably Jamie aswell.

It would also appear that Sludden doesn’t trust or rate the players on the bench as they only get on once we are in command of a game.
  2. Five goals put past East Kilbride yet totally unconvincing up front tonight against a well organised Uni team. A famous name in their team too, Maskrey! That's right son of Stevie who was there.
I did like their number 11 apparently a Spanish student called Rafa. He drifted past players effortlessly. We could do with a player like that.

We had one last season “Jamie Glasgow”
I thought it was a pretty even game with Shire having more of the ball but the Uni creating better chances especially as the game wore on.
I thought the ref was poor and I also think jamie McCormack was lucky to stay on once the red mist had descended.

  3. HOWEVER HE IS LAZY AT GETTING BACK AT TIME .  eg ROLICKING DEL GAVE HIM FROM 70 YARDS AWAY DURING THE AWAY MATCH AT VALE OF LEITHEN AFTER HE TWICE MADE NO EFFORT TO GET BACK ON TWO OCCASIONS BY WALKING EVEN SLOWER THAN ME

Del has shouted at every player in our team that's why he's our captain as for sludden best player on the park and a possible goal of the season.
  4. SHOCK / HORROR AT SCORE. ONLY GOT HOME A FEW HOURS AGO AFTER MY BACK SURGERY AT THE WESTERN GENERAL. ON SAT NO MENTION OF ANY HIGHLAND / LOWLAND LEAGUE & ONLY GAVE A LATEST SCORE FOR THE JUNIOR TEAM IN THE SCOTTISH CUP. NO MENTION OF ANY OTHER TIE LET ALONE ANY CUP DRAW.BY BBC TV ( WHAT ELSE DO U EXPECT FROM THE BBC! ) HOW OFTEN WAS SLUDDEN OFFSIDE THIS TIME ?

Sludden was outstanding why would you single him out. It's always the shire fans who are not at the game that have the most to say!
  5. I don't recall making a point about East Kilbride's stadium plans. My point was about the unnecessary digs  at them over the size of their support and the criticisms of other football fans from the town occasionally going to watch them when their own teams aren't playing. Do keep up..

70% of your supporters base are part timers good luck with that once your charging £13 a game.
  6. Except the Old Firm wasn't the only difference.
East Stirling were seen as East Kilbride's nearest challengers last season. That's not the case this year. The game last season took place during an international break. There was very little football at all that weekend, never mind being up against an Old Firm game.  And the capacity last season was only 550, so a crowd of 800 at that game is greatly exaggerated.
Still let's not let those pesky facts get in the way of a good dig.

Ok but why build a 5000 all seater stadium if you only have 200 loyal fans? Answers on a postcard.
  7. I don't think anyone's pretending they are a big club. The point I'm contesting is that there's some sort of an issue of fans that support different teams watching East Kilbride too. That's the market they're in for support.
By saying it's "interesting" that folk "can't make it", I'd suggest that the original post from selfassemblyshire was very much a swipe at East Kilbride.

If you play a league game after around 8 games with a crowd of over 500 the the exact game 1 year later can't attract 200 and the only difference is the old firm are playing??
  8. And more people were at last season's East Kilbride v East Stirling game because it was a bigger game than yesterday's. Why the need to mock them for that when the same has happened to yourselves?

No mocking here again simple fact is they are not as big a club as I first though.

  9. I didn't say you made a cheap dig. I said selfassemblyshire did.
His point didn't appear to be about East Kilbride's potential, rather that their fans are actually Rangers and Celtic fans. I don't see interested neutrals turning up at a bigger match but not turning up at a more run of the mill game is exclusive to East Kilbride.
The last East Stirling game I went to had a crowd of 1300 against Edinburgh City. What was your average last season?

That's a ridiculous comparison considering 1150 were there to see us get relegated.
  10. That's not the point I was replying to.
The point was about locals ditching East Kilbride because they had a more attractive option. These people have likely supported other clubs all their lives, but still occasionally go to K Park.
I'm in a similar boat, having lived in East Kilbride all my days, but was at Tannadice yesterday, in spite of going to East Kilbride games when Morton aren't playing. It strikes me as a pretty cheap dig at them.

When we were there last season there was a healthy crowd certainly not the 800 you quoted but I did think that EK were a team destined for greater things, then arriving yesterday and see a crowd less than 200 it has changed my mind as to how big a team they could become if that's a cheap dig then so be it.
  11. The game last season took place on an international weekend, did it not?
Don't really see why it would be a criticism of folk to go to a game when their own team aren't playing, especially in a town that didn't have senior football until recently.

Why would you want to build a 5000 all seated stadium when you only have 150 fans?

  12. Think it will be a tight game even if we play well to be honest. Not much between the teams i dont think. Hope you enjoy ur first visit to kpark. Just not to much.

One thing for sure so far this season we have been too easy to score against but maybe last Saturdays 7 goals will have boosted the confidence so we can at least be competitive.
  13. I'd much rather hear the swearing! Who honestly is going to be offended if they voluntarily watch football highlights from the lower leagues. Swearing is part and parcel of the game.

Seriously Ivo do you think that a football club promoting videos through their social media and website that are littered with swearing would be acceptable? Football is supposedly a family game.
  14. watch the highlights muted, it's the only way to filter out that unbearable w**k which for some reason they insist on keeping with the highlights.
no one gives a shit about the opinions of non Shire fans of course, but surely most Shire fans watch their highlights on mute too.
E2A: good to see Shire looking a bit more co-ordinated and hope they begin to climb the table and challenge for the title. I'd like to see you guys back ASAP.

The music is played to dub out the swearing from the two benches plus this was written as a 1 minute track to be played as the teams come out personally I love it.
  15. What's the feeling among the Shire support on the future of the manager? Will he stay and fight on, and more importantly do you want him to stay?
In my opinion he has done a decent job up til this point, and probably deserves the time to get things right. From what I've seen you are still playing well, but maybe not as clinical as last season?

Don't see what changing the manager would do, the shire are in desperate need of a magic money tree then everything will be fine.
  16. Don't think yous ll ever get that bad?
Hawick took thumping today what's your guys thoughts on Tully taking over doon the Albert Park. Sure to improve???

Tully is obviously desperate to get back into management and with him having the shires relegation from the league on his record his options would be very limited and with Hawick being as poor as they are it may be a good place to try and rebuild his management career I just hope he has learned from his mistakes and improved his man management skills.
  17. I had forgotten about Jamie Glasgow as your a regular you'll know more about it than me. You seem like night and day from last season either way.

Last season there was a real feel good factor going on which pretty much carried us all season although in the end we still won he haw, this season there is a reality set in about where the shire find themselves and it clear so far that our summer signing have not improved us.
Anyway you would know this as your at more shire games than 50% of our support, hope the £4 pie was worth it.
  18. Went along tonight and actually said that to someone. Shire were I suppose a "surprise element" in the LL last season but now everyone has sussed out how they play.
Grant has been a big miss for Shire this season.
I would agree that Geddes has a decent side at the Uni this season.

I personally think Jamie Glasgow is the bigger miss than Grant.
