  1. I picked up a copy of the Pale Saints debut album The Comforts of Madness, on clear vinyl no less, I remember listening to it with my little indie girlfriend at the time, we played it non stop, I was curious if it still sounded as good as I remember, it sounds great and certainly doesn't sound like it's 30 years old. Out of curiosity i searched for that ex on Facebook.... She hasn't aged as well
  2. My gf got me for my birthday 100 euro gift card from my favourite record store over here - Concerto.
  3. I going to a restaurant tonight and playing football tomorrow, good times.
  4. I always had the feeling that he was just a bit lost but couldn't work out for himself how to get out of the rut he was in. I was in a similar situation in my old office job till i was made redundant and had to make a plan.
  5. I don't mind the word soccer, it's certainly better than footy.
  6. I was in the scouts with chris from b&s.
  7. Oh here comes Hull down the motorway in a car
  8. I like you as a poster DA but that's a bit of a sweeping statement, i love Bowie but i can totally understand why some people don't like him, i don't love everything he ever did but can appreciate an artist that pushes themselves in other directions in order to keep the creative juices flowing rather than releasing music just for the sake of it, he tried so many different things, not always successfully by his own admission but it's that openness to and curiosity of other sounds that gave him his longevity. I do reckon if he was on p&b he'd probably give you a greenie for the bland creep comment
  9. Great set, it certainly didn't feel like it was from 20 years ago and to think of all the stuff he left out of the set. I poured a large Balvennie and stuck on Hunky Dory then Blackstar and seemed to get something in my eye during the closing track of Blackstar.
  10. I'd bloody love her to be widowed
  11. Amazing, i love that song and album, i've never heard the instrumental version, really cool hearing the strings of Danny Thompson's double bass vibrating.
  12. Could just put Burkie in as a left footer, the little genius that he is.
  13. Apart from David Bowie, Bourdain was the only celebrity death that upset me, i was genuinely gutted to hear he'd taken his own life. Definitely one of the good guys, i recently watched an episode of No Reservations where they go to Beirut and it all kicks off, he made some great tv.
  14. He lost a lot of respect after his good news/bad news announcement at the end of season one, think it highlighted that he was only interested in furthering his own career. I stumbled across an interview with Stephen Merchant who said they didn't cover any of Brent’s back story during the writing process, they did drive around before the Christmas special to see where he might live, the guy driving was Jimmy Carr.
  15. I quite like tofu, took me a while to be convinced but i like it, the key is to remove as much of the excess water as possible, i usually marinade it with hoisin, soy sauce and a squeeze of lime then fry it in the wok.
  16. I could feel f**k Buttons vibrating through my body for the duration of our trip. Saw Hubby support Mogwai at Paradiso, damn that boy can play.
  17. Ha that's very inconsiderate of him. For a band with very few lyrics and quite long tunes they certainly keep you engaged when playing live. The NYC gig was very special, first time in the city, almost didn't get in because we didn't have our ID's but they loved our accent and let us in, f**k Buttons were the support and i reckon they were even louder than Mogwai, great gig then you step outside and boom NYC it all seemed to fit perfectly. Simpler times man.
  18. Sorry to hear that mate, must've been devastating. We have a woman that comes to our house for a few hours a day when we're away. Our Monty had his yearly check up today, need to take him back in two months as he's lost a bit of weight recently, he was always on the chunky side, probably because he was homeless then we found him and he made up for the times he had to go hungry, i'm hoping that its just stress due to all the disruption going on in our building with renovation work.
  19. One of my favourite bands to see live, saw them in NYC back in 2008 and numerous times across Europe, my favourite was seeing them perform the Atomic soundtrack at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, a friend was working for them so we got to hang out with them afterwards it was a lovely evening just sitting by the water, I miss going to gigs.
  20. I've already posted that one David: I heard you the other day, and I thought "Oh, he used one of my catchphrases" I don't mind influencing a young comedian - you're not a comedian - but I usually credit someone if I use their comedy. Gareth: What ones are your that I use? David: Same shit, different day, that's mine. Exsqueeze me, instead of excuse me. Tim: w**k you very much. David: Yeah, I invented that.
