110 players played our medal today, only 5 nett scores were under par. Best score was a scratch 70 (1 under) for a nett 69.

Anyone else play today? Very tough windy conditions, had a dreadful front 9, much steadier back 9. Ended up with a nett 79, but got a wee bonus by rolling in a good length putt on the par 3 17th for a 2 for a bit of sweep money.

When the greens were soft early season I was hitting wedges into greens and getting backspin, a phenomenon unknown to me in 35 years of playing golf. Really fucked up my yardages.

Longest putt I've holed this year was a close to 40 footer for a bogey 6 the other week. Rory hacking out the rough was also a bit close to home.

My pre season treat to myself was a set of new Cleveland RTX Zipcore full face wedges. Got a 52, a 56 and a 60. Getting plenty of zip of pitches and chips with them, sometimes too much. Still getting used to them.

A smoke and a pancake required for the Netherlands after England rack up an astounding 498-4. Buttler hit 162 from 70 balls, Malan 122 from 90 and Salt 125 from 80. Livingstone had a late cameo bashing 66 from 22 balls. Roy was out for 1 and Morgan a duck.
