  1. There was certainly enough time to have a go, but very little willingness. Look as if all they want to do is bring the losing streak from the winter to an end.
  2. Could backfire, but it certainly dangles a big carrot to England that they could win it. If they bat another hour then it takes that chance away and England go into defensive mode, although going by the winter that might have been the best thing for the Kiwis.
  3. They can't let him play just because he is leading when other players have had to miss tourneys because they tested positive or were having to isolate. Agree that it was shockingly bad way to tell him, but pretty much what you expect from the PGA.
  4. 21 leaving in total, a lot who have been pretty ineffective and in some cases probably fairly expensive (yes Leone, this means you), but that's a lot of jerseys to fill.
  5. Played Millport for the first time yesterday, very tough in a strong breeze and being unfamiliar with quite a few blind shots. I've only brought a half set with me due to lack of space in the car. Biggest club I have with me is a 6 iron, creamed one downwind which travelled 220 yards, turned and played the next hole back into the wind and an equally good strike barely made 150. Very picturesque with nice views over to Bute and Arran and up the Firth of Clyde too. Couple of pictures including one from the par 3 12th tee if you zoom in you can just see the flag. 135 yards downhill with a strong left to right wind yesterday, I was quite happy to walk off with a 4 after finding the front right bunker.
  6. Humza caught talking pish again. Lord knows how he keeps getting the posts that he does.
  7. Conway into the 180s but could run out of partners soon as it's now 8 down. Robinson has 4 of them.
  8. When the numbers are so low it's foolish to look at percentages imo. If you tell some folk there is a 20% rise in ICU numbers they start screaming for lockdowns, but the reality is it means an extra 1 or 2 cases at the moment.
  9. Alex Cejka wins the Senior PGA Championship. He is 6 months younger than Mickelson.
  10. When you remember that you dropped Wiesberger from your fantasy team.
  11. Enjoyed the 10 year tribute show on Friday night, and very sad to see how ill Paul Ritter looked when it was filmed, but fair play to him for taking part. I was nearly in bits through Tamsin's intro so god knows how she got through it. Some good outtakes, but it was amazing that they ever managed to film the scene when Jim gets covered in paint without somebody laughing.
  12. Osaka fined 15 grand for refusing to take part in any press conferences, she had already said she wouldn't be doing them. She cited the negative effect on mental health of having to face the press at times, especially immediately after defeats. Now all 4 grand slams have issued a joint statement pretty much telling her that if she doesn't do the press she will be kicked out and banned. https://www.rolandgarros.com/en-us/article/statement-from-grand-slam-tournaments-regarding-naomi-osaka
  13. A long thread which confirms that vaccines actually work, and explains that the majority of the handful of vaccinated patients who are in hospital suffer from prexisting pronounced co-morbities. In other news, forgive me P&B for I have sinned. Last night my wife and I travelled outwith Glasgow to go for a meal with friends. And it was fucking great.
  14. Delayed start due to Covid regulations for those arriving from the UK, except most of the field will be coming from Denmark.
  15. Next weekend is the Porsche European Open, it would appear it will now be a 3 day event with a Monday finish, nothing from the European Tour yet though. The main sponsor has this on social media.
  16. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-57263822 Eric Carle, writer of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, soon to be worm food.
  17. https://news.sky.com/story/samuel-e-wright-who-voiced-sebastian-in-disneys-the-little-mermaid-dies-aged-74-12317233 Once sang Under the Sea, now heading under the ground.
  18. I was in for surgery to release a trapped nerve in my forearm on 7th May, tonight was the first I've hit a ball since then. My handicap index is 21 at the moment, and the last round I played was a nett 75. Tonight I bogeyed the first, but then hit 7 straight pars before I had a 7 on the 9th to be 40 (4 over) at the turn. God knows where that came from.
