  1. Here's how Iceland are dealing with incoming passengers. I know they won't be dealing with passenger numbers anything like the UK, but surely it's better than compulsory quarantine?
  2. I was going to say it was good to see somebody who isn't just a "bomber" win, but although Simpson is something like 87th on Tour in driving distance, he still averages 300 yards. Sergio dug a huge hole for himself in an interview over the weekend, basically said there were plenty players on Tour who deserved to get Covid 19 before Watney. A player testing positive has shook the rest of the field, who didn't seem to be taking it all that seriously. It's astonishing that Watney was allowed to wander around the practice areas while he was waiting on his test result. 3. We are pretty far advanced with a licence application, we know exactly what we need to do to meet all the criteria.
  4. Would need some negotiating, there is a long standing block booking for a local charity on a Friday night. It's a council facility, outwith our normal agreement we are just a customer like anybody else.
  5. We are hoping to enter a side next year, too many logistical problems to get in before the deadline this year, the main one being nailing down a regular home ground. On that note, I hear 6 teams from the Edinburgh area have put down the same home ground, in a complex with only 2 pitches, so only 4 of them could realistically use it every second Friday.
  6. A large part of them I would think would be jobs in the hospitality and tourism industries, with no real idea yet of when they might open up again. According to this https://www.gov.scot/publications/regional-employment-patterns-scotland-statistics-annual-population-survey-2018/pages/1/ 2.6 million people in Scotland have a job of some sort.
  7. Hatton 1 ahead thru 12 with Ancer and Webb Simpson right behind him. Too tired to watch the rest though.
  8. Decent article in Private Eye about where the science went wrong, including Professor Ferguson ballsing up the figures early on. https://www.private-eye.co.uk/issue-1524/columnists Nobody in any of the top government positions at the moment gives you much confidence in their abilities. It's debatable whether a lot of them would be competent MPs, never mind being responsible for a government department.
  9. Looks like Hancock could be the first casualty among government figures. Fully expect the scientists to be flung under the bus quite soon too. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tory-mps-despair-incompetent-matt-22226375.amp?__twitter_impression=true
  10. I know we are wanting to run a competition on July 4th, but to do that we are switching from the BRS website for our bookings and shifting everything over to the V1 Members app as it can handle both the bookings and the scorecards. Some clubs were already using V1 so might have been able to get comps going quicker.
  11. I'm currently 20.6, after starting last season at 23.4, and only playing in 7 qualifiers. Got cut 2 shots in one go after hitting a nett 66. Target for this year was to try and get under 18 and into the second class, we are hoping to have a competition on 4th July and run something every week until October, so still an outside chance I could do it.
  12. Honestly haven't seen it in shops here for years. I can remember having some ludicrously strong stuff on holiday one year, think it was 12% ABV. Rocket fuel.
  13. Played 10 holes this morning as the guy who I was supposed to play with didn't trap, so I was getting held up all the time. One torrential downpour that only lasted 5 minutes, fine apart from that. Friday I was nett 1 over for 18, struck the ball really well this morning, parring 5 of the 10 holes I played to be nett 2 under after a sloppy start with a couple of 3 putts. Laying a wooden floor yesterday with an early start this morning wasn't one of my better ideas.
  14. The current PGA Tour event is being held at Hilton Head in South Carolina. Justin Thomas said that "it was like a zoo" in the town with the beach crowded, and bars and restuarants very busy, and absolutely no fucks given for social distancing. Some wildly differing death rates in those US figures. California has a death rate of just over 3% from it's cases. while New York is over 7.5%, with Virginia under 3%. It wasn't just Kelvingrove Park that was busy last night, author Ian Rankin lives right by the Meadows in Edinburgh, and tweeted that it was crowded, and with no public toilets open folk were going for a pish anywhere and everywhere.
  15. Ooft. We were just talking about that in work last week, hard to come by these days. How much is a can with the 50p per unit minimum pricing? (Or is that just the basic 5% stuff?)
  16. Strong words from Justin Thomas about the locals at Hilton Head. https://www.bunkered.co.uk/golf-news/its-a-zoo-justin-thomas-critical-of-this-weeks-pga-tour-stop
  17. Glasgow. I'm guessing it might have to vary from school to school, her school has 3 entrances so they can use one for each age group.
  18. Update from the daughter's school yesterday. When they go back in August S1 to S3 will start at 8.50 am, have 2 x 75 minute periods, and go home at 11.20 am. Only positive is that they will be in all 5 days. Can't see them having any practical classes at all. S4-S6 will be in for 2 x 85 min periods in the afternoons.
  19. Played golf with a guy the other week who is a loss adjuster for an insurance company dealing solely with commercial policies. He has been dealing with claims from businesses for loss of income due to being forced to close, but said the number of policies that actually have a specific clause that will see them get any sort of pay out is miniscule.
  20. It's his first major faux pas for quite a while. He's been on the money lately with his comments about the proposed World Golf League thing, playing the Ryder Cup with no fans, and saying he won't play with Trump again. He doesn't seem to have noticed that the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick going over early to quarantine was the exception rather than the rule, and it was an easy decision for Rory to make to play given he lives there and has no kids to worry about.
  21. Saw a tweet saying there have been more suicides in Scotland in the last 2 weeks than there have been Covid related deaths. My wife's pal was at her Uncle's funeral last week, he had decided that life was no longer worth living. He was 83. Been a while since we saw any of our nursing heros on the thread, here are a couple of paramedics to keep us going in the meantime.
  22. Think Missy has had enough of lockdown.
