  1. Almost certainly I would think. Read a report about Canada the other week where they had reported higher numbers female cases and it was linked to the number of nurses and care givers who had become infected.
  2. An embarrassing about turn by the WM government regarding having all primary kids in England back in school before the summer. It turns out that head teachers and teaching staff actually knew what was physically possible to achieve in regards to social distancing in their schools, rather than the usual muppets in government who only really wanted the kids back in school so that their parents can go to work.
  3. When I had lessons, the pro's advice was that if you are just off the green with nothing to go over other than fairway>fringe>green, his recommendation was that a bad putt would never be as wayward as a bad chip. It's worked pretty well for me since taking him up on that.
  4. Bad news from Fife as Charleton Golf Club goes up in flames. https://www.bunkered.co.uk/golf-news/huge-blaze-destroys-clubhouse-at-popular-scots-club Guy I was playing with yesterday is a loss adjuster, and he has been dealing with Macrahanish having their clubhouse replaced after it burned down. They had hoped to be opening in September, but that looks like being delayed until at least November now.
  5. I think we all see it. If anyone knows the 5th hole at Bishopbriggs it's a short drivable par 4, but is a blind shot with a sloping fairway. It's a very narrow opening to the green and there is probably only an 8-10 yard wide channel that will see a good drive find the green. Anything left will find the rough, anything right will kick right and find the trees on the right. I always (try to!) hit an iron to the top of the hill which leaves you around 100 yards to the middle of the green, and I've played with a few very low handicappers who played it the same way, in fact one of them got an eagle 2 after holing out with his wedge. Played with plenty of mid range handicappers who try to drive it, and I would reckon 90% of them have ended up in the trees on the right, usually with no shot to the green. They end up hacking sideways and toiling to get up and down for par 5 handicapper I played with yesterday only hit driver on the longer par 4s and the two par 5s where you need the extra distance off the tee, he was banging a 4 iron right down the middle on every other hole. Playing the percentages right makes all the difference.
  6. 9 for Monday. I've been helping my daughter with her French school work for weeks, that word hasn't come up yet. Bugger.
  7. I had the same clubs for over 10 years, but my Dad passed away a couple of years ago and left us a bit of cash, so I upgraded everything except my driver. I'm 50 next January and that will be my birthday treat to myself. A former workmate could have 2 or 3 new drivers every year. The staff at American Golf in Irvine must have been falling over themselves to serve him whenever he came in.
  8. I was just a touch over 3 hours again this morning, and that was with the odd wait due to the group 2 in front of us being a bit slow.
  9. It's getting harder and harder to comprehend the rules when the anti racism protests are effectively being sanctioned when they were asked to move from George Square to Glasgow Green, but 20 players meeting up for a training session is a no go until you can fund regular testing for them all.
  10. We took a buggy to Greece with us when my daughter was nearly 5, specifically for the reason that we knew we would be eating late and it would be easy for her to get in her buggy and conk out. I don't know anybody of my friends and family who would think it was normal behaviour to bugger off and leave the kids in the hotel room or apartment without any supervision, even to go 100 yards away. Imo the version that Maddy gets up and wanders out and is snatched is the most likely to be what happened, although that relies on the slimmest of odds that the first person to see her is a paedophile who strikes gold. The McCanns have to live with the guilt of leaving her alone and going missing, but they seem to have done a good job thus far of blaming everybody else.
  11. I don't agree with a lot of what Todd has posted in this thread, but have to agree with him on this point. It's perfectly plausible for new infections to be dropping off while deaths are still comparatively high. My brother in laws workmate passed away last weekend, fully 6 weeks after he had first taken ill, and spending his final 4 weeks in hospital. People dying today would have been a new infection around a month ago, as far as the figures go it computes perfectly well.
  12. A windswept and interesting 3 hour round tonight, ball striking a bit better but not easy in strong gusty winds. Looking forward to another round on Sunday morning.
  13. My round last Friday was 2 hours 50 minutes, and that was with the two in front of us being slow. They had 2 clear holes in front of them at the 12th and they let us play through, by the time we were on the 17th green they were just teeing off on 16. No excuse for it.
  14. Abandoned buildings, shopping malls and theme parks are my go to videos. Sometimes like to waste some time by clicking on the suggested videos, some of which seem to have the most tenuous of links to what you are watching. I can't even remember the route that ended up with me watching BA Robertson last weekend, but that then led me on to this...
  15. We are still sticking with 2 balls only regardless of family groups or not, but have cut the gap to 8 minutes between tee times. Playing at 4.20 this afternoon, with 40 mph gusts of wind forecast. [emoji33]
  16. The last part happened to my Samsung Galaxy S7. I took it in to the Samsung store in the St Enoch centre, it was still under 2 years old so they replaced the motherboard under warranty. Still using it now, just over 3 years old and working perfectly well.
  17. I can definitely see them walking free, if you are looking for any precedent, have a read about Amadou Diallo, who was killed by 4 NYPD officers in 1999. They fired 41 shots at him, hitting him 19 times. He was unarmed, but he took his wallet from his jacket pocket, and the officers opened fire without warning, believing he had a gun. All 4 were indicted on 2nd degree murder and reckless endangerment charges, all 4 were acquitted. One of the 4 had previously shot another unarmed black man 2 years earlier. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Amadou_Diallo It inspired Bruce Springsteen to write 41 Shots, for which the NYPD patrolman's benevolent association called for a boycott of his shows after he performed it at Madison Square Garden in 2000.
  18. Brees now back pedalling furiously.
  19. Here's what Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins had to say...
