  1. I had seen it in a tweet last night by a Brazilian girl I follow, she didn't say who it was though. Bolsanaro is a fucking mentalist.
  2. Happy 80th birthday to McDonald's.
  3. And just to add to the fun, one of the people being slated to take over as Health Minister is a flat earther.
  4. So things I have learned from the government this week: The "R" number is all important, unless it's higher than we would like, at which point it becomes unimportant. Wearing face coverings is an ineffectual way to control the spread of the virus, but now we should wear them in busy places like the public transport that we haven't to use, but do have to use if you need to get to work. International comparisons are useful, until our body count has outstripped everybody else in which case we can ignore them. The government "threw a protective ring around care homes". Seriously? To paraphrase Piers Morgan from earlier in the week, infected residents were then catapulted over the protective ring back into homes that were inadequately prepared for them, and have caused thousands of needless deaths.
  5. When the old Petershill club used to have it's golf outings, Hollandbush was one of the regular venues. Good course, not too long on the bus, and not too taxing to play twice the same day. Was always in good nick back then. I've plugged the McKellar Golf podcast in here before, but the latest one is a 90 minute chat with Rory McIlroy and is a superb listen. Talks about everything from his amateur days to the present, and even finds time to give Trump a bit of stick. Live golf on Sunday as we have Rory and Dustin Johnson taking on Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolfe in a $4m skins game in aid of Covid-19 charities. No caddies and the players will carry their own bags. Fully expecting DJ to rock up with driver, putter and half a dozen assorted wedges. Most interesting thing though will be the course, Seminole always gets a mention as one of the best, but this will be the first time it has been seen on TV ahead of it hosting next year's Walker Cup.
  6. The first one was on a few weeks ago, but probably only stayed on iPlayer for 14 days after.
  7. I would say it's harder for a comedian to have a long career than a band or musician. E.g. if you have a back catalogue like The Rolling Stones, your audience would riot if you didn't play the greatest hits, a comedian has to constantly keep changing their act. As funny as stuff like The Crucifixion is, Connolly could't have just kept trotting it out year after year. The full unabridged version of An Audience with Billy Connolly was his peak for me, prescription windscreens, incontinence pants, and the Archers theme for national anthem all among the material.
  8. Glasgow's cleansing fleet consists of bin lorries (usually driver plus 4 or 5 men) and VW Crafter cage tippers with a 7 seater crew cab. Since the lockdown started the bin lorries have been limited to a max of the driver plus 2 men, while the Crafter's have been limited to the driver plus 1 man. To ferry the rest of the crews around they have been using the 15 seater mini buses that normally do school runs, with not more than 4 men in a bus.
  9. Heard a brief discussion on the radio last night about travel and tourism in a post lockdown world. The EU have had some talks with member nations regarding trying to start up the travel sector again, but it's going to be tough if social distancing is to remain a thing going forward. Some of the things mentioned were obvious like flights having to fly with a reduced number of passengers on board which will have a direct effect on ticket prices. One other suggestion was that hotels might need to operate a booking system for poolside beds with time restrictions to limit numbers at the pool, and pools might have to stay shut for while yet anyway. Looks like Millport next year.
  10. The cynic in me would say that South Lanarkshire Council have taken this as an opportunity to let the courses get into such a state that they are no longer financially viable. https://www.bunkered.co.uk/golf-news/fears-south-lanarkshire-courses-could-close-within-weeks
  11. I'm looking forward to the shortage in teachers in certain subjects being filled by all the posters that think it is a doddle. If you can teach home economics you could virtually pick where you want to work.
  12. I'm sure the Tifosi would love to see an Italian in the car, and he has shown a bit of promise, but not sure if he is ready for a big step up quite yet.
  13. But they do have a contracted number of hours, and the teachers I know all work well in excess of that as if is. Some of them also give up their holidays to take their pupils on overseas trips, for which they have to pay their own way too.
  14. And Ryan Jordan with his cap and MotM Award in 2007, and an article about Davie Watson.
  15. And a few Peasy related, Dougie Freedman, Stevie Walker and Jordan Murch
  16. I work shifts and play a lot of golf at what other people would class as weird times, so I play a lot on my own anyway. Most if those other restrictions had been put on place voluntarily before the lockdown by most courses any way. In other news, Trump continues to make Johnson look like an elder statesman.
