    That's my thinking too tbh, they have done very well to get there, but it's no coincidence that it's almost 40 years since our last final appearance. We simply don't have enough quality players. Murray isn't daft, he knows he can't keep murdering himself in 3 high intensity matches in as many days a few times a year. I think he wants to put all his energies into the Davis Cup as this could be his only chance to win it.

    First pictures have appeared of JPP since his firework accident. Lost his index finger. He is confident that it won't affect his play.

    That was absolutely bewildering tbh, no wonder the TMO was confused, the instructions he was given were extremely vague apart from the timing of the incident. Thought Blair, Ashe and Harley were excellent, the early part of the season is going to be very tough for Glasgow with more than a full starting 15 on world cup duty. Very steep learning curve for the younger players.

    Kyrgios out, Tomic in for the Aussies for the Davis Cup semi, pity, I full expected a massive heads gone from Kyrgios in front of a partisan crowd. Nadal also returns to the Spain team for the first time in two years.

    Decent effort from Scotland in Paris last night, just a pity they ballsed up what would almost certainly have been a match winning try late on when they were playing the last ten with Denton in the sin bin. Do I dare suggest that Cotter has them coming good in time for the World Cup?

    Finished 19-12 to Canada. How strong was the Canadian team? The Warriors were obviously under strength with the amount of players on international duty. Strauss played the full 80 minute.

    He's lost 10 sets in a row against Federer so he definitely needs to have a rethink on how he is playing him. As you say Federer does far more with his second serve than any other player and he is playing at a terrific level just now.

    Wasn't pretty, but Scotland scored a late try to win 16-12 in Italy, Henry Pyrgos going over in a nice move with Matt Scott.

    Cook goes late in the day for 85,England now 203-6 at the close. He'll be kicking himself as has handled everything the Aussies have thrown at him and gets out to the bowling of Steve Smith. Forecast for rain from around 2 pm tomorrow.
