  1. Further to that, from memory these are the players we've brought in for 'nominal' fees. Mark O'Hara (Peterborough) Liam Donnelly (Hartlepool) Trevor Carson (Hartlepool) Elliot Frear (Forest Green Rovers) Ryan Bowman (Gateshead) Louis Moult (Wrexham) Marvin Johnson (Kidderminster Harriers)
  2. @well fan for life referenced this in the match thread earlier but I thought I'd stick the post in here because it's more to do with 'A Thread For All Seasons' than it is a routine Celtic win... I'd posted a running total of REPORTED fees we've brought in since Hutchison took over and the subsequent shift to fan ownership here just after the Scott transfer at the end of January so with the 'club record' fee for Turnbull that bumps the player trading revenue up further. I'm not an accountant and I'm not doing a fucking audit so any of the joyless "no chance did we get X for that guy" c***s can do one...yes, some are probably contingent on add ons being activated and all that but I've lifted the reported fees from a quick Google and in the case of Pearson, Johnson, Heneghan and Bowman a rough guess based on the numbers that appeared in the accounts. 20/21 - David Turnbull (Celtic) - £3m - Transfer 19/20 - James Scott (Hull City) - £1.5m - Transfer 19/20 - Reece McAlear (Norwich City) - £250k - Transfer 19/20 - Jake Hastie (Rangers) £350k - Development Compensation 19/20 - Stuart McKinstry (Leeds United) - £400k - Transfer 18/19 - Ryan Bowman (Exeter City) - £30k - Transfer 18/19 - Cedric Kipré (Wigan) - c.£1m - Transfer 17/18 - Louis Moult (Preston North End) - £500k - Transfer 17/18 - Ben Heneghan (Sheffield United) - £350k-ish - Transfer 16/17 - Marvin Johnson (Oxford United) - £750k-ish including sell on - Transfer 16/17 - Stephen Pearson (Atletico Kolkata) - £100k - Transfer 16/17 - Ben Hall (Brighton) - £210k - Development Compensation 14/15 - Lee Erwin (Leeds United) - £500k - Development Compensation Total = £8.94m Kyle Semple also moved to Rangers and for 'a five figure fee' but I've left that one off as I don't think I've seen that number anywhere else beyond Reddit and The Twitter. There's also the ongoing Cadden dispute as well I guess. The first sale under Robinson was Heneghan - so during his tenure the club has brought in a reported £7.38m through player trading.
  3. Fully agree with that. It's why I had mentioned the situation with the Reserves yesterday. As I think it'll be interesting to see how many we actually manage to get out on loan. Now that Turnbull's away the first team is sitting at 29 bodies. There are half a dozen that you'd say fall into the "young" player bracket who would probably benefit from being loaned out - so that brings us down to 23 which is still as close to being maxed out (albeit with 5 long term injuries - Fox, Carroll, McGinley Dunne and Donnelly). Taking Robinson and MacIver out of the equation we've 7 players for the 3 forward positions - of which Hylton, Seedorf, Watt and Long are 1 year deals while Lang and Hastie are loans - Hastie's loan has a break in January as well. The one thing I would say is that having a lump sum of cash in the bank (potentially more if Kipré moves) means that we're probably a bit more flexible in terms of getting a body or two in if necessary and actively looking to streamline down the line.
  4. Agree with that. The only thing I would say is that they could do worse than using some of the money to get Campbell tied up longer term given his deal expires in 2021. Same with Gallagher and maybe Polworth. St. John mentions the stand being built with the money from his move to Liverpool in the wee clip below btw.
  5. IIRC there was a boy who did one of the Scottish Fitba' analytics Twitter accounts got himself a gig at Livi doing analysis and ended up at Wigan off the back of that.
  6. Had Fitzpatrick played much in your first team by the time he left? If it's any consolation you got a bit more for him from Norwich than we did for McAlear (reported as £250k) though he only had a year left to run on his existing deal and had all but told the club he didn't intend to sign an extension.
  7. I honestly thought that was a bit. Were the majority of Polworth's "2nd highest number of assists in the league" not like...from set pieces?
  8. Noticed this in the Well Society mailshot that went out the other week, I had been wondering if there had been anything official about the Reserve League: Genuinely quite curious to see how many are loaned out as you've got about 6 or 7 around the First Team who fall into that category and another 8 actual Reserves who don't have a league to play in but are presumably covered by furlough for the time being.
  9. I mean....Hibs got £2.75m for McGinn from Villa, United got £2.85m for Robertson from Hull and £1.75m for Armstrong from Celtic. But aye, Ryan Kent is clearly the most accurate comparison here.
  10. Just saw a few of your tweets - some of the shouts out there are absolutely fucking wild. Fair play to Turnbull. He's signed an extension (twice) to make sure the club get value for him. He fully deserves to get paid himself now.
  11. It's everything about the Samson thing that seals it for me. I mean, it's not like he's someone we signed who turned out to be a bit pish - he actually left Killie because he couldn't get into their team. He signed for us...and was 2nd choice to Ripley who was a fine enough 'keeper but we extended his loan in the January so it was clear that we fancied him more as #1 than the ginger prince. So he wasn't good enough for Killie, wasn't good enough to be our first pick ahead of Ripley so clearly it made complete sense for us to offer him a new deal, make him #1 and watch him almost relegate us.
  12. Slightly disingenuous on my part including Ferguson I grant you but here's my working (you forgot about Ndjoli): Out: First team: Hartley, Tait, Ferguson, Gillespie, Livingstone, Ilic, Manzinga, Aarons (end of loan), Ndjoli (end of loan), O'Hara (end of loan) = 10 Reserves: Hemfrey, Brown, Kettings, Starrs = 4 Total: 14 In: First team: Lamie, White, McGinley, Fox, O'Donnell, O'Hara (loan made permanent), Hastie (loan), Lang (loan) = 8 Reserves: n/a Total: 8
  13. In fairness MacIver's 1 year extension was signed in January - so at a point where the 'Rona had only just been reported as a thing in China. When he signed we wouldn't have been anticipating a circumstance in which the league was called, the game would be shut down and there would be no Reserve league this season. I agree that the Robinson coming out with the 15-16 first team players chat looks weird now we're sitting with 23 + 7 'young" players but again, to devils advocate - the 15-16 first team players interview was mid-May so it's fair to say the landscape may have changed since then eg: our ST sales are roughly a similar number to last season (that wasn't a given), the season has started on time (again that wasn't 100%)...what was true around mid-May didn't necessarily hold when pre-season started in mid-June and signings started being confirmed. There's every chance our budget has been negatively impacted but as I've mentioned a couple of times on here we're still down in terms of overall numbers if you factor in the two squads and we've brought in fewer than have moved on. As others have said back to middle we seem fine but the forward area is the obvious concern. Even at this early stage it sounds like Robinson realises he's fucked it bringing Hastie back and we're getting absolutely no impact from substitutions but we're sitting with a maxed out squad.
  14. I thought Robinson's post-match had heavy "this isn't working eh?" vibes. "I take responsibility. I picked the team. I signed the players. I made the substitutions. It's on me." is it in a nutshell. I know folk are focusing on the "we don't have a 15 goal centre forward like Moult, Sutton, Higdon or Porter" but that's less of a concern IMO. Robinson's teams have generally relied on goals being shared around - which is fine but as it stands we've only scored 2 goals in 5 games so there's something fucking up. After 5 games last season we had scored 11 goals, only one of them was scored by our centre forward. Breaking that down it's: Donnelly (4) Seedorf (2) Hylton (2) Long (1) Gallagher (1) Gogic o.g (1) - we'll give it to Hartley though 2 pens and 2 direct from set pieces and from memory Donnelly's 2 against Celtic were 2nd phase. We've lost 3 games 1-0 which is fine margins, teams are sitting in and it's up to us to break them down one way or another. vs Ross County: Possession 60%, Shots 15, Corners 8 vs Dundee United: Possession 60%, Shots 18, Corners 7 vs Hamilton Accies: Possession 68%, Shots 17, Corners 13 If we're not creating clear cut chances from open play then our set pieces are important but we're getting f**k all from them.
  15. Drop Seedorf, play Lang as a 2nd striker and switch to a diamond.
  16. Sorry to disappoint but other than them being from Northern Ireland and Bigi having signed for them I have zero additional info about Glentoran.
  17. They've just been relegated so I wouldn't be surprised if they were open to moving a few players on. When Scott signed they were 14th and 13 points clear of the relegation situation.
  18. The Reserve League was an absolute shitshow last season even before the 'rona hit so it'll be interesting to see if there's much difference in development strategy if they're binning it this year. The SPFL published amendments to the loan rules last month: There are probably half a dozen around the first team alone that would be a reasonable shout for being loaned out.
