  1. He does but in fairness he's talking about Celtic trying to break down Killie and us having the same issue IMO. Edouard would be the "world class player" rather than Chrissy Long.
  2. Definitely. The issue at the moment is that our two first choice options for LB are injured. The ideal would be to bring in someone who could play both RB and LB and give us a bit of value for money and cover RB once Carroll and McGinley are fit but if as the quoted tweet suggests it's slim pickings for cover then the alternative is keeping Lamie at LB until Carroll is back and looking at another left sided CB and bumping Bev out the side. Hartley's pretty much been living in Motherwell's mentions all summer so it doesn't seem that wild a shout. It maybe wouldn't be ideal but it really depends on what sort of budget we could afford.
  3. Just don't give him the ball. I'm kind of in the same place tbh. It's probably an unpopular opinion but I thought Bev was fine at the defensive stuff on Saturday. He put in tackles, made blocks, won headers etc. Unfortunately with the ball to feet his distribution made Hartley look like Pirlo. There's absolutely no harm in having folk like Devine, Hussain and Johnston around the squad especially given the 9 subs but it seems unlikely we're going to chuck any of them into the starting XI. Johnston's still only 16 AFAIK.
  4. Out of contract left backs lads, have at it: Transfermarkt Looking forward to us getting Gael Clichy signed up asap. Tbh, if we're looking at cover and taking @crazylegsjoe_mfc's point into account you'd have thought a loan would probably be our best option rather than seeing us end up with a pile of 'left sided defenders' on permanent deals.
  5. Not to get all Alanis Morrissette about it but this is going to end up costing us more to bring in another body as cover than it would if we'd just went with Tait's original contract offer eh? Hindsight and all that like.
  6. From the same press conference it seems we're looking at bringing in "cover" at left back. So that hints at us looking to bring Lamie back to CB - which doesn't bode well for Bev and suggests Charlie Dunne's a fair bit away...maybe.
  7. So he's not got the 'rona then? Every cloud and that. Still...some start to the season. McGinley now Donnelly.
  8. After his performances against County and United it's difficult to justify Hastie getting a start. With McGinley out, Donnelly self isolating and Lang still suspended (I think) it's a case of going with what we have back to middle. It's up front that there are obvious questions. Long's never a lone striker. I'd imagine we'll stick with our 433 and try to make it work but given we've been struggling to create decent quality chances then changing it up and going 4312 could get Polworth and Turnbull on the park at the same time and also put a body alongside Long. Carson Grimshaw Gallagher Mugabi Lamie Campbell O'Hara Polworth Turnbull White Long
  9. I agree with a lot of this. I don't think Robinson necessarily needs to rip it up but I think there's an argument for evolution of sorts - what that looks like IDK. It's a good point about the 60% possession - when the 433 was in full flow a lot of our goals were coming from counter attacks. Hastie against Livi and Seedorf against Hearts were peak examples of that: As it stands though, against both County and United we've spent large parts of the game playing in front of their defensive blocks without really looking like we're going to break them down. I'm not going to pile on Hastie but he's a good example of the problem we have in so much as if he's not able to get in behind he's not really doing anything - he's not putting crosses in and he's not getting shots off equally he's not offering a target to hit from diags in the same way Scott or Cole did. According to WhoScored? we put 22 crosses into the box on Saturday, played more passes and fewer long balls than United (according to Sky our passing was 79% successful which is some going given Big Bev's performance). Ultimately, for all that you could count the clear cut chances we had on one hand - if that. Unlike his 2nd season where Robinson doubled down on the Main and Bowman by adding Sammon and launching it at them looking at the forwards we have with Long, Watt and White along there are at least different "options" there. It's not simply a case of the same player x 3. The issue Robinson's got at the moment is that what he thought would work for his starting XI may not actually be the best mix in practice.
  10. Fwiw: here are our opening 6 results for Robinson's previous seasons. 17/18 18/19 19/20 Robinson was clearly scunnered in his post-match interview yesterday and his focus (rightly) seemed to be the final third. It's true for every team but normally by this point we've had pre-season games plus Betfred - last season for example we had played 8 games which had we been looking at similar this season might have allowed Robinson to get daft ideas like sticking Turnbull wide left out of his system. We tried that first half on Monday and it was largely useless and while I've a lot of time for Hastie - his confidence looks utterly shot and we've effectively started both games a man down as a result. While we don't look like a well oiled machine it's worth pointing out that the margins in the two games have been 2 daft defensive decisions (and a missed penalty). I thought it was interesting that Robinson was saying of Lang that we thought we had the "solution" with him...but he got suspended. I know his red card colours things a bit but looking back to Monday 3 of our 4 best chances actually involved him. He had a header shortly before his sitter and the penalty came from his knock down at the back post. The run of poor form in February was largely a knock on from losing Cole and Scott and a frontline of Seedorf, Long and (on current form) Hastie doesn't change that. We still look blunt up front. Arguably we've looked more of a threat when we've chucked White on.
  11. Not really forgotten as such since the various members are still pretty well known but... Captain America The Boy Hairdressers
  12. Reality Bites (1994) It's weird to read comments from the studio marketing dept that "The media labeled it as a Generation X picture, while we thought it was a comedy with broad appeal". I mean, it absolutely is a Gen X film. It touches on all the themes of disaffected twentysomethings of the time against a grunge/MTV background but it's not really a comedy. It is however very early 90s zeitgeist. Cards on the table, I'm wildly nostalgic for the early 90s at the moment which is why I revisited this. It's Ben Stiller's directorial debut and he also co-stars alongside Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke. There are loads of recognisable faces Janeane Garofalo, Steve Zahn, John Mahoney and there are cameos from Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum and Evan Dando. 7/10
  13. As someone who was a kid in the 80s my obvious ones are really, really fucking obvious: Star Wars trilogy Back To The Future Raiders of The Lost Ark Top Gun I watched Back To The Future the other week and it absolutely still stands up. Tbh I'd watch pretty much anything with Michael J Fox so Teen Wolf and The Secret of My Success were on repeat as well. Commando and Predator were probably my picks of the Schwarzenegger catalogue. Someone mentioned Smokey & The Bandit earlier in the thread and in the same vein I absolutely loved Cannonball Run. Proper school holidays, parked in front of the TV viewing.
  14. Picture was perfect for me on PPV. Like others no audio though. Not really bothered by that tbh - it was fine. Game was almost a carbon copy of County on Monday. Plenty of the ball, daft goal conceded, could have played all day and not scored. Smashing save from Carson. We really need to sort out what's going on up front. I thought big Bev was doing fine until we started giving him the ball to feet...fucking hell.
  15. O'Hara in for Donnelly, Campbell in for Polworth. Turnbull back to centre mid. Big Bev starts as well.
  16. Depends how early in the week "earlier this week" was but given they've had 2 further tests since the initial false positive you'd think it'd be the start. In that case Carson did the press conference yesterday and Campbell, Watt, O'Hara, Gallagher, Grimshaw, White, Polworth, Semple, Hylton and Hastie were all in training going by the photos that went up on the socials. Harry Robinson's in the 3rd photo of the IG post along with White.
