There was a typhoon that hit Chiba prefecture last month and some areas still don't have electricity. There is a lasting effect and believe it or not, contrary to what's been say on this thread, people do actually die in typhoons. I live on the West coast of Shikoku (an island South of Honsu (the main island) and we're having everything shut down for the typhoon.

The World Cup SF in Durban very nearly got postponed due to flooding in 1995. The World rugby diary (very much like football) determines the dates to be honest. It's a long tournament as is without having spare dates. Other than reducing the number of teams, I can't see what they could have done. If they are serious about growing the game they need to give the tournament to Countries like Japan and Argentina........even Italy!

It is indeed typhoon season. This is the 19th that's hit the mainland this season, although they are unpredictable. It'll be the same for the Olympics next year!

It's looking like it according to our weather reports. That said, we're constantly being told we're going to get hit with a typhoon here in Matsuyama but have I've yet to experience one in 3.5 years! Scotland might get lucky.....

You can, by going to a proper restaurant that sells decent food. In terms of wanting roast chicken/beef/lamb/pork and vegetables, I'd say it represents decent value for money. Sure, if you want fine dining go somewhere more upmarket. Would you go to a Michelin Star restaurant for a fry up?
