  1. Nah, the way the majority of those clubs are run, I can't see it taking long before they're pissing money up the wall again.
  2. I just don't think you had the forum cred to pull that off, sadly.
  3. I think, philosophically, the troubling issue is what happens to the third point in the event of a draw.
  4. Probably depends whether any big teams are keeping an eye on the game, I guess.
  5. I'd like to take this opportunity to become the Internet's Funniest Man by declaring any void game to result in three points being awarded to Motherwell.
  6. It's the crushing inevitability of it being fucking Hibs that's most annoying. Seriously though, could imagine him looking for a gig down south again. He could get a top half Championship side, I reckon. He said that was his aim from day one so if that turns out to be the case, you'd find it hard to hold it against him. If I was management, I'd be imploring him to give us one more year. But if he's offered uncapped wages in the English second tier then it'd be hard to keep him.
  7. I didn't even realise he was there, tbh. Is he still playing?
  8. Yeah, while there's nothing wrong at all with his quotes, it does feel a bit unfortunate.
  9. Think this will hinge on where Goodwin plays Shane Duffy and what system we use to get the best out the big man.
  10. To be fair they looked thoroughly mediocre in the semi final as well; it's just that we were atrocious.
  11. That'd be the main benefit, though if we get a couple more wins on the board relatively quickly then I reckon we can start those plans anyway. I would say Ethan is a superb reader of a game and is excellent at breaking up play but his passing range for me is non existent. I find myself infuriated at the number of times he superbly steps in, breaks up opposition attacks then proceeds to give it back via a poor pass. I think he really needs to work on that aspect or just play a 5 yard pass to a team mate like JDH that has a better passing range. If he could learn to do either I can honestly see him having a Paul Lambert style career, he is probably capable of that level imo. I think I disagree on his passing; he does still make passing errors, but I think that's down to decision making rather than ability. He has shown he can pick a pass superbly at times. He's also a lot more forward-looking than I expected him to be prior to this season. I think he's got most the ingredients to be a great player and he's getting better all the time. There was a point yesterday when he sort of hesitated on the ball and nearly got into trouble, but he didn't panic, used his strength, held the guy off and found a pass. The more I watch him the more I think any issues he has are down to being 19 years old. He's going to be tremendous in five years' time if he makes the right choices and works hard.
  12. Think we've been the better side by a decent margin there. Moving it around very nicely at times. McAllister looks a different player, hope he's finding some fitness finally. He's running so much more freely now. Shame we couldn't have found another goal before the break because we were well on top.
  13. Here we are. Looks like a 4-4-1-1 with either McGrath or McAllister wide right, with the other playing off Obika. I hope it's McAllister playing more advanced. He was outstanding Vs Celtic, and McGrath has a better workrate for the wide position.
  14. Hibs also beat us, of course, but your broader point still stands.
  15. I can't see much from the Championship that ought to be worrying County, so really you only need 11th or better. You might even be allowed in to see a playoff final.
  16. Tough to know how we'll like up today. The 4-4-2 might have to make way because of a lack of personnel. We have so many options/permutations though. McGrath, Connolly or McAllister could all play off Obika. Equally they could all play wide. Flynn should be in, but might be tired. If he does play, does JDH miss out after selling us down the river in midweek? I think we'll see McGrath wide, McAllister off Obika, and Ethan in the middle with JDH. Crazy number of strong options at the minute, though. No wonder we let Foley leave.
  17. Yup. I will happily choose this as my hill to die on: people who think VAR has been a good introduction to football never really liked the game anyway.
  18. VAR is horrible and needs to get in the sea. If it actually stuck to its remit to correct clear and obvious errors then fine, but the implementation in England is utterly killing football. The whole point of the game is that you can go absolutely mental when your team scores. Take that away - because you're waiting for confirmation from VAR - and the immediacy completely disappears. The prawn sandwich munchers on this side of the border might not care because they barely celebrate goals anyway, but the idea of tempering my celebrations because there's a chance it's getting chalked off by some c**t not even in the ground makes me feel pretty hollow, tbh.
