  1. Shit, I didn't even clock Tait wasn't in. Right. Interesting.
  2. 4-5-1. Dennis starts up top. I feel he's earned a go. Durmus and Connolly means it's far from a defensive line-up. The issue is the two young lads in the middle. Didn't go well last Sunday.
  3. The prospect of playing alongside Flynniesta clearly has remarkable rejuvenating properties.
  4. Might work now we have better striking options and potentially Flynniesta in the middle. But I tend to think it's an awful formation.
  5. That's the fella (it's the Thor in his name that keeps convincing me he's Norwegian). Cheers. Thought he looked alright in the five minutes I can remember seeing him play.
  6. Who was the Norwegian chap? Strange one, that. Doesn't even feel like that was this season.
  7. Something about Jim's transfer moves still gives me the fear he might fancy a 5-3-2 sometimes. I guess it would allow us to play two up front at more difficult grounds, where he wouldn't want to go 4-4-2. Like tomorrow.
  8. Jim seemed to be more focused on the 'left-footed defender' thing, so that'd be my guess.
  9. I feel bad for the lad. He wasn't good enough and ended up even behind injured players and non-central-midfielders in the list to play CM. Can't have been much fun, in the currently climate, to be on loan somewhere far from home, not getting played. Hope he finds somewhere at his level where he can get a game.
  10. Well, they chose to relegate Hearts last season, so
  11. Yet, here we are, four posts in to a Celtic/St Mirren thread...
  12. To be fair, a St Mirren fan obviously has more knowledge of how to plan a relegation battle than fans of your club or mine. I think you overestimate the role fans have in planning relegation battles, tbh.
  13. Goes without saying but that result was a huge boost for our GD, too. Bit of a cliché, but that's effectively an extra point on the board there, especially when you look at the disastrous -GD that Accies and County are currently sitting on.
  14. I feel it's very statistically important to flag that every team in the league, with minimum 24 games played, has now surpassed Heart of Midlothian Football Club's total of four (4) wins last season.
  15. It sometimes helps to broaden the scope of the form table you're looking at. This perhaps gives a better guide: Being less of a dick about it, here is the last 10 (ish):
  16. When you've seen one lumbering carthorse defender who's out his depth in the top flight, you've pretty much seen them all.
  17. Was pleased for Dennis making an impact last night. It's a funny thing, but most folk seem to have agreed very early on that there's something about him, even based on very little evidence. Watch his darted run to get on the end of that Flynn pass for the goal... as Flynn moves into the box, Dennis holds/times his run to absolute perfection. He makes up a huge amount of ground, leaving United's carthorse defenders for dead, in a split second. He looks really sharp. Can't help but feel Connolly may have played his way onto the bench. Using him as a terrifying impact sub seems the sensible route for the time being, especially as defenders seem to have sussed him out to a degree.
  18. I feel that, with that post, you've set the stage perfectly for Foley to burst onto the scene and enjoy an 18-month Indian summer at Fir Park. What I would say is that although 'the way we play' isn't always obvious, what is clear is that Goodwin really prizes pace and mobility. Almost certainly why Morias continued to get games before whatever happened, happened. Sadly Foley was just too cumbersome and looked a shadow of last season's player. At least Motherwell would be signing a guy chock full of antibodies.
