  1. If that was a cartoon, one of those guys would be the evil genius and the other would be his blundering sidekick. I don't want to say which is which.
  2. It does. After we 'outbid Aberdeen and Hibs'* to sign Eamonn Brophy, agents all over Scotland will be chucking our name in to secure an extra few hundred a week for players. * No need to rake up why that's not necessarily the whole story again.
  3. Fair play to him for being prepared to try something new. You're right: Turkey is a bit of a rollercoaster of social development standards, though I'm sure a footballer will be stopping in a nice area. I'd have liked to have signed him, but you always get the impression a Turkish club might pull out mad money for signings. The main challenge is often getting them to actually pay the wages they offered, mind.
  4. WE WANT MOAR ATTACKERS!!1!!!1 I can't see that we need one, tbh, and it's more likely to be a 'forward' than a striker, IMO. Having said that, it might be pie in the sky but having seen how we played at the weekend, I could imagine us trying to push the boat out for a loan for Greg Stewart. I think we need a 'buzzing round the main striker' kind of second striker and the Killie fans pretty much to a man said he brought out the best in Brophy. McAllister did that role BRILLIANTLY at the weekend; if Obika was more mobile he'd be good at it, too, but we have got a lot of games coming up, so I could make a case for Stewart, certainly. Plus, if we're on for top six, Rangers might see the value in strengthening us vs the rest. Not that anyone is coming close to them now.
  5. Seriously, if you didn't find that win exciting then supporting St Mirren isn't for you. I honestly can't see what you get out of it. Was it tense in the final 10 minutes? Sure. But we also played some wonderful stuff. Alnwick made a last-ditch save, too. I felt sick from 80 mins onwards but that's not to say it wasn't exciting.
  6. It's a high-profile example of how the fish rots from the head downwards. I'd probably have said 'backwards'. Unless it's standing up, I guess.
  7. Can't be arsed posting this in the match thread now as it's become a centre for navel gazing for over-entitled glory hunters. However, how the dust has settled, that really was a bit special yesterday. For me, though, the performance was more than the result. Jim promised we would start to go toe-to-toe against the cheeks, and I think we were all crushingly disappointed with the manner of the 3-0 game at Ibrox. But since then we're really developing as a team and it's magic to watch. That game has put to bed any doubts I had about Goodwin as a tactician. He may still get it wrong - I'm sure he will - but he absolutely did a number on Celtic yesterday. And it was no smash n grab: we played some outstanding football. We've now got options all over the park and a squad that will clearly buy in to what he wants to achieve. These results will get the club noticed and players will want to come here. Honestly, I - as with any Saints fan - can take defeats. They're a way of life. But I do want a side that plays without fear and doesn't look beaten before a ball is kicked. It feels like we're finally getting there and it feels amazing.
  8. Obviously yet to beat Ross since he left, including an absolute horsing in a friendly against Sundlund. We are obviously flying high right now, but a third win on the bounce? Not very St Mirreny. Should be a fascinating game, though. Entertaining 2-2, I reckon.
  9. What I would say is that Dennis' movement is definitely a step up. Making crosses and meeting crosses is a two-way thing. It's one thing saying the forwards get no service, but the forwards have to make the right runs. In back to back games now we've seen Dennis make darting runs to get on the end of simple balls into the box, from which he has scored. Simply put, he's making it easier for that service to happen.
  10. 35 typically. Might require more this season because it's so tight at the bottom.
  11. Based on what I've personally seen, I think you'll reel them in eventually. I was surprised at how poor they were. Makes me more annoyed that we dropped points against them when we were struggling earlier in the season. Have to say I can't see past County and Accies for the bottom two places. While the points are tight, it's their GD that is staggeringly poor. What fascinates me is the managerial switches. Four teams that needed to twist have done so so far. It's obviously paid off wonderfully for Livi. I think Alexander will be fine at Motherwell. Jury's out on Hughes despite a mad result at Pittodrie. Killie have left it late but will probably scrape over the line. Which leaves Accies as the outlier. For me it's been clear that they've needed rid of Rice for some time. I admired them for sticking by him when he came out about his gambling issues. I'm also broadly in favour of teams giving guys as long as possible to achieve stability and to prove themselves (except Alan Stubbs). It'll be fascinating to see if they'll prevail by not rolling the dice.
  12. I took my clothes off at 4.45. Felt like the right thing to do.
  13. Actually choked here. What a win and performance that was. I'll type more later. Fucking St Mirren, man.
  14. McAllister fatiguing will be an issue, but at least we have plenty options. I could imagine sending Brophy on and telling him to run himself into the ground for 35 minutes. McAllister busy looking like the player we all hope he can be, though.
  15. Very pleased to see half time roll in there. We were doing ok still but needed the whistle to regroup. Our passing had become a bit stretched. That said, it's been one of the best 45 mins of football I've seen from us for a very long time. Durmus has been utterly magnificent. Playing left forward and also at full back.
  16. Shame that, we've been excellent so far. Happy to eat my words about the tactics. Even if we go on to lose, some of our passing and movement has been excellent.
  17. His thinking is that the Tombola must be obeyed no matter what mad shit it spits out. But naw, you might be right.
