I know you've never especially rated him so happy for you to say you told us so. I'm still surprised; it's his persistent big game bottling that's mystifying. I don't even think you can fault him for Sunderland - they are on their second manager since he left and no different in terms of league position. But he's got a mental block for the cups, which is a big chink in his armour. I think he'll at least get the rest of the season; they'll finish 3rd or 4th. But wouldn't be surprised if Hibs were already looking at their options.

Regardless of the outcome here, the fans of a team that doesn't typically reach cup finals are going to miss seeing their team play in a cup final, and it's fucking shit. I've got a creeping apathy about it at the minute - shades of the 2018 diddy cup final vs Dundee United where a win was a nice wee bonus but I'm not fearful of a defeat - though that is likely to change come Sunday when I'm sure the nerves will kick in. As I've said several times on this forum, it's very difficult not to admire what's happened to Livi over the past few seasons. You've come from further away than we were, even at our nadir in 16/17, and have gone further yet, on a shoestring budget.

Guess this is going to come down to who's on the bigger character arc in this movie. Martindale, and his battles with drugs and the law, or Saints and our battles with the impact of the 'Rona. Our story feels more 'of the moment', but Livi's is certainly compelling. Even Celtic have been playing along.
