  1. Awright guys, I'm stopping in Dundee for a couple of nights for a wedding at the end of next month. Could do with a food recommendation for the Friday night. We're stopping at the Hotel Indigo, so somewhere walkable from there would be ideal. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Cheers!
  2. Nah, likely outcome now is you beating us in the playoffs for maximum agony.
  3. I've just had to cash out my £10 6/1 bet on you guys to win the title. Managed to get £8.75 back, which was respectable damage limitation. Useless b*****ds.
  4. If he was that desperate to save you, he probably wouldn't have laughed in your chairman's face when he stalked him on holiday to offer him a job that time.
  5. He'll do a great job for you. Some folk wanted to see him getting a chance this season, but we only really play with one up front so he's about fourth choice. We don't produce many strikers so I hope he does the business for you and comes back with some game time and confidence under his belt.
  6. Well, exactly. Todd is a good player, had a horrendous time with injuries and probably needed to move to a less pressured environment to reboot his career. Obviously don't know if he's Prem standard.
  7. Yeah, I think you'd put them mid-low Premiership level, based on attendances alone.
  8. Really, that's the rub. The best squads we've assembled in a very long time came in 2011-3 (IMO). On paper it should have been challenging for the top six. We didn't even vaguely threaten to do so. But still, when you've seen the club pull together genuinely entertaining squads such as that one, it can be galling to see, as @Torfason said, a procession of utter jobbers stealing a wage. What's worrying is that we stumbled across a bit of magic, in Jack Ross, Lewis Morgan, Stephen McGinn, Gavin Reilly, Cammy Smith and Harry Davis all clicking at the same time in the second tier, but we seem to have no recipe to recreate that magic. You can start to wonder if it was a fluke. I'm about as realistic and as pragmatic a fan as you'll find - I know that our natural place in Scottish football is floating somewhere from 10th-16th, with occasional peaks above that and occasional troughs below. I know that 2011-13 squad with Thommo, Teale, Goodwin, etc, was built on the foundations of several years in the top flight, and a couple of good cup runs (semi & final in 09 & 10 respectively), not to mention the incredible good fortune of Stevie Thompson actually being a St Mirren fan. But still, as you say, it's tough to watch other teams having that success, and creating those memories. What Livi have done this season (and over the past few years, since League One) is incredible. In Saints' defence, I'd say they're embarrassing a lot more teams than just us - right the way down the Championship.
  9. Nah, all joking aside, I really can't see you getting caught by three of the sides below you. As much as I'd like to see Alloa staying up, for Jim, I can't see it now. That said, a Raith-Dunfermline playoff final would be full of #scenes.
  10. In all seriousness, I could be tempted. I'm about as non-knee-jerky as it's possible to be, so will see how this pans out. Bear in mind that if we go down, there'll be little point selling W7 to away fans as there won't be any games that require it. Or do you mean only W7 to be used by them?
  11. Yep. Think we'll be seeing you again next season. Yeah, certainly a strange decision, but you'd like to think a fan being stretchered out of a ground would be basically safe no matter which part of the ground it was happening in.
  12. Certainly doesn't look good. Something feels wrong at the club at the moment (aside from the obvious). Incredible how quickly things can change, when you consider where we were last year, especially with the buzz around the club, the support, the manager, etc.
  13. Three key players were away - Reilly, Morgan and Davis. We had some players on contracts that just weren't good enough - some frankly baffling extensions were handed out. Stubbs pissed off the rest (Smith, McGinn), and bought complete duds in, all bar one of whom have been booted. The twist in the tale is that Stubbs was pretty much correct about some of the players. Doesn't make him any less of a c**t though
  14. Fair enough, I'll bow to the stats. I guess players such as Hammill skew the 'norm' slightly. Yeah, just saw that goal on Twitter. Decent! Glad he's doing well for you. As we have found, most of our squad from last season wasn't good enough for the top flight, but Lovejoy should comfortably be getting a game at top-half Champ level. Can't see you going down with a fit and in-form McShane pulling the strings.
  15. Nothing boils my piss more than a short free kick or corner. When you think about how much time is spent in open play trying to engineer crosses into the box, it's criminal not to take a free chance to deliver one unchallenged.
  16. Yeah. I'm not concerned - we've come up before, we'll do it again. I'm completely happy being a yo-yo team as long as there appears to be some sort of strategy to it. I do worry that we've been lucky with the 6 Ms production line (seven if you count S McGinn the first time round) and that we might struggle to replicate that in future. I think serious questions need to be asked, though. I guess bringing in Gus was an attempt to ensure we have a consistent identity moving forward. That is essential, IMO. Obviously scrapping around at the bottom of the league with a terrible squad is always going to make things difficult. Lessons have got to be learnt here.
  17. Bye bye Premiership. It's been horrible. Next time we come up I hope we have a clear plan. I don't mind going down fighting, but this has been tame as f**k.
  18. Nah, agreed, though there is a growing (incorrect) perception that Oran is under a lot of pressure - and I imagine that will increase if you beat us. In fact, he might actually start to be under some actual pressure.
  19. Should be a decent game. I'd put you at slight favourites given our huge squad churn, but we are better at home than on the road. It'll be interesting.
  20. They are really few and far between. Hence Bigirimana going to Hibs, I guess. Just not that many to go around.
