  1. Goodwin a done deal, then? I love that man. Hope he wins you the title and also fucks Morten.
  2. Yeah, just injured a lot. Stubbs tried to bomb him out in the summer, too. If we didn't extend his deal (I hope we do) then he'd be perfect for a top-end Championship club.
  3. He's out of contract at Sevco now, so hopefully he can be persuaded to take a pay cut and join the good guys permanently. Times like this that managerial continuity, combined with having a manager that players actually want to play for, really comes in handy.
  4. I adore that big man. What an inspirational figure he was/is. Just what was needed in those big games - credit to him for holding himself together for two games in four days. I also very much hope we get Hodson back. Nearly the forgotten man, he stated weeks ago he was hoping to get back fit for the run-in at a point when I'd assumed his loan had been cancelled. He played a key role (out of position in a very challenging/unfamiliar wing-back position), kept the only vaguely dangerous United player quiet and covered crazy amounts of turf. On ability, but especially attitude, I'd take him back, no bother at all, if we can afford him. Goes without saying I'd have Popescu back if we can reach an agreement. I can't imagine Dreyer coming back, and I think McAllister will be desperate to try and force his way into the Derby reckoning now that he has some match fitness, but I'd happily take both of them, too.
  5. I'm looking forward to hearing from @Poet of the Macabre who has got a real rod up his arse over Oran Kearney for reasons that I can't quite figure out, and has taken many opportunities this season to remind us of this fact. Round ye.
  6. That's the trouble with homophones, tbh. They all sound the fucking same.
  7. The station wasn't in use on matchdays for at least the first ten years of them being there It was an utter shambles. Even now the service isn't fit for purpose (trains lack capacity and frequency of service to be of any real use on matchdays). I hate to agree with @virginton about anything, but launching something like this without the transport infrastructure in place has been proven to be a nightmare. You're right about the ownership thing and it'll likely never be resolved. However, they had a great, if old-fashioned, ground in the city centre - visiting fans could get off the train and pub crawl to it. I worked as a journalist in the city at the time they left the ground and covered every home game at Highfield Road for three years, and then a few at the Ricoh. The overall experience wasn't even vaguely comparable for quality and overall enjoyment. Going to the Ricoh typically involved driving, parking somewhere dodgy, walking a mile or so and not being able to drink. Great fun, that.
  8. Coventry moved to an out of town stadium with poor transport links and it absolutely ripped the bollocks out of the club. Just saying.
  9. This. I lost money last summer after Robbie Neilson was a 100% stick-on to be St Mirren boss. I think they should leave Clarke alone. There's no need to f**k over a club's progress for the sake of an utterly poisoned chalice of a job. Plus, I really can't see the appeal of taking it, if you're Clarke (maybe aside from the money). He's doing an amazing job, turning Killie into a force, and the Scotland job will always come round again in 18-24 months. Or 18-24 months after that. He could take it then.
  10. That's a great appointment. Should have happened last summer, but looks like an amazing fit from where I'm sitting. Top four next season, surely.
  11. I can't speak highly enough of them. I think they do an outstanding job and put in so much effort. It's clearly transformed the atmosphere at the ground and the players obviously love the support and positivity.
  12. I never actually saw that pic. I prefer it that way: there's no way he could possibly look as creepy as I imagine he does.
  13. Haha, quite possibly still. Steeling my nerves for the playoffs as I can't see us getting 10th now. I've clearly been hanging around a bit too much because my browser brings me to the Champ forum if I type 'pie' into it and press enter now...
  14. I was going to ask for context as that has passed me by. Does he really?!
  15. That's quite the legacy that Paul Hartley is leaving around Scotland at the moment. There are folk who might think it's harsh to blame him for both Dundee and Falkirk's relegations, but I'm going to. He's lined them up like a trick-shot of managerial mediocrity. The smug, fat fucker. I'd like to think this will be enough to make sure he never works again, except maybe at Morton.
  16. Hopkin would be a great shout. Should have got him last summer but was always going to be tough to compete with Bradford. Feels like a natural fit though.
  17. Congrats guys. Genuinely delighted for you and, of course, that fucking sexy manager of yours.
  18. Arsenal did it with Oxlade-Chamberlain. I don't think there's anything diddy about it at all, tbh. Just good sense. You were clearly bagging JJ at the end of the season anyway so no point lumbering the new guy with a player he might not have wanted.
  19. Two years to the day since you relegated us at Cappielow*. * Copyright, @virginton
  20. We're not getting in till 8, so didn't want to spend too much time dicking around. Thought I'd impress the wife (first time for everything) with some vague local knowledge. If we do win, it's fine: I'll be in heavy disguise as a guy with an English accent so I'm sure I'll be fine... Thanks everyone for the recommendations.
