I'd make an argument for having him play off a single striker when we're away from home. Something has to change when we're on the road, and taking a striker out doesn't necessarily make you less attacking. Putting him in a true number 10 role could really benefit everyone involved.

It's weird that a couple months ago the bench looked rammed with game-changing quality. Two first-team players out the door (counting Brophy there, albeit he was replaced) and a couple injuries and suddenly the bench is mainly kids. I'm comfortable with that and I want to see them given game time, so it's not a criticism per se, just an observation on how that seems to have swung so quickly.

Had that top when I was a kid - I would have been ~9 - and I always loved it. Through adult eyes I can see it's not brilliant, but holds great memories for me. Probably wouldn't buy, though.

It's one of those where the facts can mislead, and you need to appreciate the nuances. We had gone on a good little run, but it was incredibly flattering to both us and Goodwin. I was raging at Robinson early on because he appeared to tinker with what looked like a winning formula. But with hindsight you can see he was correct. The squad was flawed, had been assembled to play 3-5-2, but hadn't been adequately coached to play that formation in an effective way. I think when Robinson says look how far we've come, all of that must be borne in mind.

Classic case, IMO.

I'd welcome it, tbh. I realise our games against Aberdeen have all been skewed by early red cards this season, but they have been staggeringly unimpressive. He has a divisive managerial style that he got away with for us, but to the detriment of some decent players such as Erhahon. Apply the same formula at any club where he's not a cup-winning legend and you can't imagine he'll ever be afforded much patience. Happy for this to be bookmarked and rammed home later, but I would have no fears about facing a Goodwin-managed Motherwell team.

Still, if they score more than five against us it'll be boom time for Greenock-based manufacturers of commemorative DVDs.

I'd be surprised if it tops 1k, tbh. Think we took about 600 to the league game. From a financial perspective, this fixture is good, but that's really not a priority despite what gets written about our finances. From a footballing perspective, it's as bad as it can get for us. Plus, it doesn't have the 'big day out' feel that it would have done for Morton fans in the last round. That's not even a dig at them; there's only so many doings you can take at Parkhead before the novelty wears off. And yes, we're the last Scots team to beat you there but there were no fans in the ground and we'd be lying if we pretended that wasn't a factor.
